      I couldn't agree more. I am a bit sad really, that I didn't see and/or meet Sir Stirling himself, when he was still in reasonably good health participating at the Ennstal Classic or Schloß Dyk or the Goodwood events. :-(

    You couldn't have hoped to have a better man to interview Moss than Patrick Stewart. Having watched Moss speak to his co-driver in the Mille Miglia in very unflattering language, it's clear that Stirling didn't suffer fools.... so it was heartwarming to see him find a kindred spirit in Patrick Stewart. Theres a clear warmth between them.

    I have always admired Sir Stirling Moss. His image was on my first slot car set in 1963. I am privileged to visit the Aston Martin DB1 he drove at the Simeone Automotive Museum in Philadelphia, PA, USA. It sits among many iconic machines in motorsports history. A top rated museum thanks to the late Dr. Frederick Simeone.

    This is great. Back in the 80's/early 90's, my uncle had several cars (512 BB, a BBI, a Daytona and a few classic racing cars) Back then I was young and didn't appreciate the older cars.
    My uncle didn't have anything historically significant but I was going to events that had significant cars there and, being with my uncle, being a part of the event, I could have had very good access to many classic/significant cars but I just wasn't interested.
    I now have a full appreciation of the classic cars and I am kicking myself because I didn't check them out when I had the opportunity.

    I'm Brazilian but Stirling Moss, Jackie Stewart and Niki Lauda are my favorites. Unfortunately, many Brazilians don't know much about Stirling Moss and not knowing honestly makes me question how passionate the person claims to be about the sport. I may sound rude but he is a legend and so in my mind sports fans should know him or at least know his importance.

    It's difficult to look into the future in "what if's". Moss would've had competition from Clark and other greats. Same would be for Clark, Senna, Villeneuve, Bellof etc etc. Only difference is that Stirling survived it.

    A year or so older in the US than Patrick Stewart, Stirling Moss was may favorite. I took Road and Track back issues and Sports Cars Graphic morphed into Car and Driver in boxes until my first wife was pretty much beside herself. Lovely video and educating. Recommend it to anyone. Also a big fan of Clark, Hill and Gurney. Personally I was never a great driver - bummer.
    My favorite story was Moss using the starter motor to take a birdcage Maserati across the finish line at Daytona.

      Nor his Valiant Hemi Six advertisements he did in Australia in the late sixties and early seventies. Or even his attempt at Bathurst in 1975 with Sir Jack Brabham in an L34 Torana.

    • @frederickmiles327
      @frederickmiles327 4 года назад

      The BRM v16 was just s formula libre car by 1952, it was never ready for the F1 it was designed for, was fast in as straight line, and very slow on corners like most BRMs except 1962-66 it was a disaster, sometimes made respectable by the genius of Pedro Rodriquez in 68-71. Moss made a comeback at Bathurst, in 1976 aged 47, during the practice and the race, he finally got going in the race, half an hour late he was fairly consistently 2 a lap seconds slower than his teammate Brabham. Moss said it was as disaster, he was conned into it, did it on a dare and greatly regretted it. Moss never attempted to race in a big international race again, he was bumped on the start line by some Aussie salloon car driver, who maybe feared the competition if it rained as it was clear in those conditions he was still good. He did a couple of seasons in 80-81 in semi serious UK National Saloon racing, he was generally midfield, but on s number of occasions, it poured and genius was back. It might have seemed ridiculous that was the case but it was not unusual in Australasia in the 1960s for say Clark or McLaren to be bumped out of a race deliberately. The following year 1977 Ickx/ Moffat in a mile wild Ford led from lap 3 to the finish. It was a horror story for the Australians. Brock was lapped 20 times. Some of the locals were stupid enough to try and race Ickx as he lapped them. The holden Brock fans in the Box the notorious viewing enclosure of the hard men and hard drinkers were silenced. As Mofat said it was impossible to get Jacky Ickx to drive slowly enough to not reveal that the great Bathurst heroes were nothing. Watching the edited videos in Australia are like a Samuel Beckett novel or Pinter play, it is very difficult to work out what if anything is going on, a National tragedy is occurring but minor fan, TV commentator or others drivers say nothing. They are just about in tears at every pit stop. Jacky Ickx, won the race. He is never mentioned.

Who could feel sorry for a life like that. The era these guys raced in would put hairs on Hamilton’s vest never mind his chest. Maestros like Stirling Moss truly put their life on the line, the commitment and bravery is beyond extraordinary, like a necessary madness that the general public grew to accept, enjoy and respect. RIP

    What an absolutely heart warming production, a touching tribute to a wonderful gentleman, one of my favourite hours spent watching a TV show ever! Patrick Stewart, humble, genuine and just amazing, Tif Needel, as ever and always simply fabulous. every member of this documentary was just marvellous... If you are one of those lucky souls for whom motor racing is the blood that runs through your veins, if you can smell the petrol, the oil and the tyres, you need to watch because if you ever watch anything in your life this has to be it, it truly brought a tear to my eye, God Speed Sir Stirling, you truly were a legend

    {from Vicky Bueler}...My Dad Al Pease beat Stirling Moss at Mosport Park [Bomanville ON] once. I was there...Moss got in his regular car post race and quickly drove away, a wee bit angry [?]. Lol. Maybe 1980? Probably a VARAC event.
