Kirstin, Scott, and Mitch have known each other since middle school. They were in theatre and choir together. During their senior year, they discovered Kevin on RUclips and were super impressed and asked him to join their group. (Sorry, I don’t know Avi’s backstory). They entered The Sing Off, an a capella competition show on tv, and won. That got them started on their career. They have won three Grammy’s. Later, Avi left the group (amicably), and was replaced by Matt. Hope that helps a bit. Oh, and proud to say that the aforementioned trio came from Texas, my home state! So they always do lots of shows here. ❤️

Kevin (beatboxer) is also an accomplished cellist, with his own videos where he plays and sings. Mitch, Kirstie, and Scott were all in high school together; they added the bass (Avi) and the beatboxer (Kevin) sometime before they were on "The Sing Off" (American acapella competition show).
They actually all met for the first time the day BEFORE the audition for “The Sing-Off”! One of the judges was Shawn Stockman, from the musical group “Boys II Men”. He said Pentatonix would radically change the acapella world. He was right!
