After decades of hating this song it took me a while to even give the PTX version a listen. I should have known better. Everything they touch they improve, even this old worn out repetitive nightmare. Thanks to PTX now I enjoy it again (their version only) and even manage to sing along! More PTX please!
The live performance on stage (during their Christmas tour) is the most adorable thing! You should watch that if you get a chance!!! I was blessed to get to go see their Christmas tour & it was the best day of my 62 years of life!!!
Scott had a TicToc post a few days ago where he was practicing his part in this song. It was quirky and disjointed, lots of starts, stops and pauses and odd sounding harmonies…but it makes perfect sense after hearing the song!
Scott was having a blast. But, if you watch many of their live videos, you can see how proud he is of the rest of the group. He's like a proud papa. And you can see/feel the love they have for each other.
They just released a new video "Over the River" with Lindsay Sterling. GORGEOUS arrangement with cello and violin. They also did "I Saw Three Ships" which might be one of my favorite arrangements of their Christmas music ever. It was on iHeartRadio Christmas special recently. Also great is "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen". Whatever you pick, you'll enjoy it! Thanks for your reactions. Loved your comments about Scott - he definitely seems to be in his element in the Christmas songs.
Yes! Their new songs "Over The River" and "I Saw Three Ships are Amazing"--you would love them. These past two years have been horrendous for me (and everybody I know) and listening to the depressing, old, tired Christmas songs is not what we all need right now so I am loving the Pentatonix upgrades. Thanks for your enthusiastic reactions to Pentatonix Christmas music and I look foward to more of your reactions!
♥ Since you mention it, check out this 33 second TikTok of Scott rehearsing his part of this song for the tour. ruclips.net/video/9V_HElUsnIo/видео.html
My favorite thing about Scott is how much genuine pleasure he takes in watching other people get amazing spotlight moments to shine! You see it in some of the official videos, but more in live performances, where he'll look over to whoever is about to do something amazing, with a huge grin! Check out Seasons of Love live & watch him & Kirstie do that to each other before their solos-it's so genuine & sweet about Scott!
I love looking at your face when you react and your smile. I saw them in concert last Sunday and they closed it with this song. It was EPIC! You are right. Scott is amazing when he performs.
You reviewed Home Free’s Version of “Mary did you know?” You should really listen to Pentatonix’s cover. It is absolutely stunning! Home Free is certainly no slouch when it comes to acappella but they can’t come close to Pentatonix version of the same IMHO. You will also love their cover of “You’re a mean one Mr. Grinch.”. While it is not a traditional Christmas song, it is from the soundtrack of the Dr. Seuss classic, the Grinch that stole Christmas. they won a Grammy award for “Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy.” You should also check out “White Winter Hymnal.”
You have ingested enough PTX. Welcome to the world of the Pentaholics. You will find us very faithful to our PTX. We will help you on your journey. We will go down the rabbit hole with you. Once again welcome my friend and Merry Christmas
Deck the Halls - Oh Come All Ye Faithful - Little Drummer Boy - Walking in a Winter Wonderland - Mr Grinch, in my opinion, are the best Pentified versions of "tired" old standards - and now we can add Over the River to the list!! Thanks for this reaction, the look on your face was so worth the watch!!!
I really don't care for this song usually but love this. They're so creative with the twists they give to their covers. Great reaction, thank you. I'd highly recommend God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman. Sooo good!
Oh gosh some of the non Christmas rearrangements are so insane you will need a seat belt 🤶🏼🎄 but for now Christmas songs are great. I enjoy your Reactions so much. Thank you
This is a fantastic and very fun cover, but I hope this isn't the only version of this song you listen to, because Straight No Chasers' cover is so different from the original that it's almost a new song, almost. If you haven't heard it or aren't familiar with it, it's definitely a must hear.
You wanna talk about them taking a super basic song and turning into something incredible? What the video for Over the River that they just released. The only time I've ever heard that song was the first grade music class that taught it to me, but they turned it into something that must be heard to be believed. Of course, they do that with pretty much everything. But still.
Befor I first heard PTX version I was hoping that they could at least make one of my least favortite carols tolerable...they far supassed my wildest expectations (as they have so many times before) with their incredible abilities and fantastic arrangement. Thanks!
Scott had a video where he made choir voices for one of the songs they were going to sing. He said it was to late to try and find a choir so he made one up. Lots of practicing, hit and misses but in the end it came together so well.
If you want to see Scott really enjoy himself you should check out Superfruit, it's Scott & Mitch's channel from when they were roommates (it kinda died when they moved out on their own). They have lots of fun stuff on their like Hip Hop Goes Broadway 1& 2, Evolution of Lady GaGa, Evolution of Beyonce , Rihanna anti-medley, Feeling Myself, Frozen Medley featuring Kirstie, and Defying Gravity from Wicked (to name but a few of the more popular). They had several guests on and did all kinds of silly skits & challenges. On top of that they wrote & recorded their own album "Future Firends" which has a video for every song except one (if you want a wild ride check out guy.exe lol). And then there's their epic cover of Katy Perry's - Rise, recorded with Brian Justin Crum, Mario, Jose and Mary Lambert. They often have bloopers after the credits too. Even if you don't react to them, it's a great way to get to know them better & also see the evolution of Mitch unfold lol. And if you want to see what Kevin can do (I wouldn't even say it shows all his talents because still holding some like his saxaphone playing), you should see his channel K.O. and his cover of Marion Hill's - Down or Harry Style's - Sign of the Times, among the many other KOvers he has on there.
I agree that this is the only version I will want to hear too - because otherwise, I hate this song lol. I love how they did the 3 French Hens in different ways.

Same here Sonja. You would think we'd know they would do something spectacular with it .
The last countdown Scott was having a blast in his square, he was a joy to watch.
The live performance on stage (during their Christmas tour) is the most adorable thing! You should watch that if you get a chance!!! I was blessed to get to go see their Christmas tour & it was the best day of my 62 years of life!!!
Your comments here were exactly right. It's like I can stand to listen to this song again.
Scott had a TicToc post a few days ago where he was practicing his part in this song. It was quirky and disjointed, lots of starts, stops and pauses and odd sounding harmonies…but it makes perfect sense after hearing the song!
The mental talent needed to jump in and out of that song made my head hurt! Let alone the musical talent…
I'm telling you that you MUST listen to their version of MARY DID YOU KNOW? SERIOUSLY!!😃
It’s crazy how no matter what song you listen to next it’s like it’s better than the last. But truly the best is whatever is playing at the time!!!
And all down with only their vocal instruments! Amazing.

Try Little Drummer Boy!
They performed this for the first time live just the other day on their new tour and it was amazing. Quite a complicated arrangement.
Little drummer boy or Mary did you know!
It is so fun to watch and listen to music by people who love what they’re doing. So watching reactions are even better. 👍🏻

Over the River is an amazing one that they have done amazingly!

If you want to explore some country, try Pentatonix with Dolly Parton - Jolene. Another award winner.
Great reaction
👏😄PENTATONIX IS JUST BRILLIANT!! Please react to God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy by PENTATONIX!!!

Saw them perform this tonight in Connecticut and they nailed it!
they’re insane lol i love them
You MUST listen to Daft Punk Medley, Carol of the Bells, Amazing Grace and Mary Did You Know? Your life will be better for it.
It's incredible how they can jump into different genres the way they did.
I *think* they just decided to have fun with it. I'm seeing looks of glee on their faces.
Eventually, everyone realizes they can do no wrong😁🤗🎶
Oh gosh some of the non Christmas rearrangements are so insane you will need a seat belt 🤶🏼🎄 but for now Christmas songs are great. I enjoy your
Reactions so much. Thank you
I agree 100%... they took my least liked Christmas song and turned it into one of my favorites now. Thanks again and stay safe.
Enjoying your reactions❤🎄
Thank you so much! ☺️🙏🏻
Hi Taylor Family, I've heard that Scott adores Xmas music year round LOL!!!
This is a fantastic and very fun cover, but I hope this isn't the only version of this song you listen to, because Straight No Chasers' cover is so different from the original that it's almost a new song, almost. If you haven't heard it or aren't familiar with it, it's definitely a must hear.
EPIC!
Who thinks of changing genres for each day 6-12? Pentatonix! They always amaze me.
Thanks for reacting to this awesome Pentatonix video. They are amazing. They are magical.

PTX magic! They took a Christmas song I never liked and transformed it into one of my favorites. This is definitely on my Christmas playlist!
Love your reactions. Thank you.
We love this version. From the least favorite Christmas song to one of the favorite.
Please react to “Mary did you know-VOCTAVE”. It features Mark Lowry and It is a life changing experience.
Scott had a video where he made choir voices for one of the songs they were going to sing. He said it was to late to try and find a choir so he made one up. Lots of practicing, hit and misses but in the end it came together so well.
I love this one, but my favorite version is done by accapella group straight no chaser.
Chipmunks, Straight No Chaser And PTX are the only groups to resurrect this worn out song
Agreed! Straight No Chasher's version is great!

They made a song that could be boring and very repetitive in to something more, one again the twist the put on their song... that made a song better
