- Anyone looking to spread light and love this Christmas season can do so through one of many Light the World Giving Machines. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is sponsoring these giving-focused vending machines in 61 locations around the world during the 2023 Christmas season.
These machines offer a unique way to serve and care for others-in your community or in a faraway country. Instead of buying something for yourself, your purchase is a donation for someone in need. Across machines in all locations are a combined 1,200 different items requested by carefully screened and reputable local and international nonprofit organizations. These include meals, groceries, shelter, clothing, healthcare, education, bedding, hygiene kits, job and career training, crops and livestock (such as chickens, goats, pigs, ducks, sheep and beehives). Patrons can type in 777 to purchase one of everything in a machine.
In 2022, donations to Giving Machines provided 2.2 million meals; 31 million water purification tablets (enough to purify 3.9 million gallons of water); vaccinations for 517,000 children; 41,000 chickens; school supplies for 28,000 children; 25,000 ducks; safe shelter for 3,400 people; scholarships for 3,000 children and teens; shoes, socks and warm winter clothing for 35,000 children and adults; 3,800 beehives; and the protection of 459 women and children from further domestic violence or child abuse.
Since Giving Machines first launched in 2017, 1.5 million people have donated more than US$22 million. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints covers all program operational expenses. This ensures that participating nonprofits receive 100% of the collected funds. Participating nonprofits can use up to 10% of Giving Machine donations for overhead expenses. And each is required to submit a detailed report on how funds were used.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints does so much to help all of Gods children.
Days before my mama passed away, we went as a family to the giving machine. Wheeling my mama in her wheelchair, who grew up so poor in Ecuador, and sharing as a family gifts at the giving machine will always have a special memory for us. ♥ Thankful to see how Heavenly Father's children throughout the world may be blessed by this wonderful initiative.
El pueblo de Ecuador mi amo.
Our grandson turns 13 soon. We gave in his name. He thought that was very cool. We all can develope that "attitude of gratitude". ❤
By their fruits you may know them. Beautiful simply beautiful ❤️
God bless their heart 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

So glad I have had the opportunity to participate in the Giving Machines every year. I was able to buy chickens and my mom bought eye exams. Thank you for providing these wonderful machines of giving. I can't wait to use them this year. Thanks for helping to bless our brothers and sisters around the world.

well done guys
Love how you know that especially the chickens make a lasting effect on peoples lives. Gives them the start they need to be successful family farmers. Such an amazing thing, and for reasonable prices too
Amazing to think that $25 can change a whole community.
I love this stuff😊
So neat to see the impact!
Incredible Man!! 🙌🙌
wonderful
Regarding the Israel-Hamas War. We can all help to donate to the Giving Machines so that you all can survive the war and live forever. God bless you. Stop the war, forgive to each other, and everything will be alright.
Seems to be taking it a step beyond ‘giving someone a fish vs. teaching said someone to fish’ to ‘giving a fish then teaching how to fish.’
Extraordinary
This is good!!
We will all both give and receive in our life. So grateful for the opportunity.
Beautiful messages
I love how they aren't portrayed as people who just begs but people that learns and grow. They accepted help but they also help themselves!
We are sorry to hear about your passing brother you surely be missed but we know you are watching over us now we love you
What a blessing for the recipients as well as the donor. This is wonderful for the Christmas season but is there any chance it can done year around or perhaps a few times a year? God bless LDS for the love we offer as Christ wanted us to.
I love that the church isn't just throwing money at the problem which rarely does much in the long run...but provides US opportunities to "teach a man to fish" and for us to serve others out of reach...
Are there giving machines in other states besides Utah? Spread the love please.
Looking for one in Oregon
❤
❤❤❤
Are they going to be still available all year around on-line at least? Then it can be Christmas all year! Where's a simple link for stories and donations for those who don't have machines nearby, like us in Europe...
Wish they one in Boise Idaho
Our city, Hilversum, doesn’t have this. However, I will wish to know that and how I make a financial donation.
*Will any of these machines benefit homeless Americans?*
The one in Kansas City had several different options to help the homeless.
Why can’t the church just help people themselves? They have plenty of money already.
The answer is they do already. They run so many programs, including ones to help people find employment, disaster relief, the ones mentioned in other videos that help new mothers learn how to take care of their baby...and chapels and temples also cost money to run. You've got to consider that.
The machines have a dual purpose. Not only do they give to those in need, they also help us to learn the value of selflessness, generosity and charity in an experiential way.
We're not all wealthy! But all members should pay a tithe the equivalent of 10% of their increase every year. The church uses this money, and money members pay in lieu of forgoing 2 meals a month, called a "fast offering". These monies are used by the church to fund our enormous worldwide humanitarian aide in nearly every single country of the world ( about 180 out of total195ish countries). And yes, this includes huge homeless housing projects in deprived parts of the USA. And including working with the NAACP & WFP(World food program, who they won a Nobel prize with 2-4 yrs ago).
