    Jeremy is wrong. The GT is the prettiest car Alfa has made for a long time.
    The 159/Brera look good in photos but are flat and surprisingly bland in person (apart from those headlights of course). In pictures the GT looks slab-sided and badly proportioned, but in person it's curvaceous, sleek and dramatic, and flared in all the right places. It's perfect.

    People who say Alfa's are unreliable either haven't owned one or have had a bad one. They are no less reliable now than any other brand. The GT is gorgeous and much more desirable than a a social conformist box like a BMW.

    If you drive an Alfa you drive a car with a soul, driving it makes me happy, it's constantly wanting you to get through corners faster. I drive 155 1.8 '97. It's reliable, just treat it good, not like many ppl do, cold motor and 4000+ rpm is deffinitly goeing to kill any car, but an Alfa kills faster because of that. If you treat it good, you will be payed for that. And yes my 155 sucks petrol :)

    the alfa GT 2.0 JTS was my first car and I don't have a bad word I can say about except it's a bit more expensive to maintain than normal cars, but the drive was absolutely brilliant, it was super comfortable to drive long distances with and it feels better than sitting in a bmw or audi to be honest. not to mention the car is drop dead gorgeous in my opinion.

    I have a 1985 gtv6 and i'm a cancer. I have to disagree with the unreliability of an Alfa. I drove a 1984 gtv6 for seven years (daily) and it never left me stranded, failed to start or got tempramental. Just changed the oil every 3000 miles, timing belt every 30,000 and mind the brake pads. Other than that had the propshaft doughnuts and bearing replaced once. I liked it so much I bought the '85 to replace it with only 34,000 miles on the clock and original paint. This one is not a daily driver.

    In terms of reliability that is... The 156, 147, Brera, 159, GT, all great honest solid cars with amazing design. Too bad they stopped producing the Alfa V6 engines, I hope they come back some time. Probably the best sounding engines in a regular car with great performance.

    i am not a german car fan per-say...we (my family) have owned 3 alfa's in the past decade...starting with the verry same you have, then we had the 2.4 jtd facelift and after that the 159 1.9 jtd, full spec...got it cheaper because it was a showroom, pre-registerd car in the dealership...we had that for a year, then swapped it for an E class (not an amg sadly) but an e class none the less
    however my personal car is a 1993 land rover defender, but thats another subject

    Im a Pisces ♓️ and did buy a black gt 3.2 v6 busso last week. Its the most expansive one when it came out. This car is just really fun to drive, maybe a little bit heavy on the nose but that's just it. Its still good looking today if you ask me. @waltibaba I know you extended it but it was pointless to do so. Who doesn't admit Alfas have shit reliablity in fact that's what makes them so special because if you can have one and for it to not go wrong for about 150,000 miles than you got it made. That's the beauty of it.

    It's not bad. But Italy are not good on technology. Alfa is a fun car to drive, and make alot of attention. Alfa Romeo is father to Ferrari and grandpa to Lamborghini. It's look good, it's a nice feeling to drive. Smooth... Don't buy an Alfa whit a V6. It's make the car heavy and you lose handling. You can still have fun whit a 2.0 JTS :)

    i bought mine from a bloke who got it from the local police who sold them off because they got new ones....he restored it completely, and "pimped it" a bit...he got it for 6 grand, restored it for 1.5 grand, sold it for 7k
    it has the 2.0 diesel engine out of a transit van, which is as reliable as a plough horse, he also installed an LPG kit, which makes for great runing costs
    i've had it for 3 years now and all i had to replace on it was the odd light bulb and a squeeky door hinge

  • @MaverickM1
    @MaverickM1 15 лет назад

    @Keluzzina Agreed! Nothing beats italian horses!!! Germany? They had to change rules in DTM around '93 to catch the 155 V6Ti :)
    Technology? TwinSpark (since the 1920's!!!!), CommonRail ('97), MultiJet (2001). The germans are still using the TDI, a weak copy of Fiat's iDtd debuted as the first direct injecting diesel engine in the world in '88 with the Croma! And what about the PDTDI crap? Muhahahahaaaal! Cars from Italy forever.

  • @benwhit3
    @benwhit3 15 лет назад

    lol italy is known for its salami an cheese, not its cars. maybe you have 4 well know brands, the lambo an fararri cant eb classed as every day cars, other wise you have the germans to contend with, that leaves the alfas and fiats, and i can tell you through experience that they might look ok but are built like, drive like and are as reliable as shit. dont get me wrong im not saying england makes great cars, i know they dont, well not commercial cars anyway.

    No, I haven't had the opportunity to read any of the TG boys' stuff, think I'll have to look out for them though.
    We used to have a huge shed a few years back when all of us were living at home, we each had our work areas in the shed and I always kept my stuff neat, tidy and categorised (eg different screws sorted out into little tubs whereas the boys would just have them all in one big jar), it was annoying when the boys couldn't find their own stuff so they'd "borrow" mine and never return it!

    He's not anti italian .. he's anti alfa romeo.
    And he has the right to think that.
    I've driven Alfa's and I have to say that they're very empty cars. The interior doesn't make you feel like you're in a nice car though I must say the GT does have quite nice handling.
    But I'd never buy an Alfa Romeo.

    @rdwar001 take this into account as well, unless you picked up the 325i straight from the factory..than I wouldn't consider it new. Any number of things could have occured between the factory building it at you buying it. I've never had an Alfa or a BMW, so I guess in reality my opinion shouldnt matter

    I love alfa romeos, they dont break down if you take care of them (like you should ANY car) it's all hype saying that they are unreliable, alfas a very reliable cars, just stay away from selespeed, check suspension, oil and coolant regularly and she'll purr like a kitten.

    I never drove an alfa...i dont get why they are so special? i mean beauty is relative, and reliability/performance/quality isnt...
    I just dont get it, hopefully i will drive one someday and understand...they dont sell them in the USA

    alfa's are great if you're in your 30's or 40's...my dad's now in his 50's with a dodgy back...say what you will, the seats in a 159 are not the most comfortable thing in the world...they gave me back aches and im only 24

    That's exactly the problem I have with Alfa Drivers. You're elitist. It's completely untrue that everyone else is an A to B driver. Jeremy and James don't even have Alfas anymore. They were too insufferable to live with. So stop being so condescending.

    the GT is rubbish...its too small and too cramped for a car that size...they shuld have made it either lighter or rear wheel drive....or re-issue it with the new 159/Brera style looks
    if you want a good fast Alfa, get a 159

    I don't know about the Falcon and your other aussie-specific Fords, but the Mondeo and Focus are both well-built cars. (It's the Fords where I live - in America - that you need worry about.)
