This is a playlist of Windows Server 2019 training. I will be uploading videos in order to get started in the system administration world with Windows Server 2019. This gets you prepared for an IT SysAdmin role. Please watch the videos in order to understand the process and configuration.
An additional AD domain controller is used to balance the load among existing domain controllers. It also provides fault-tolerance that in case primary AD DC is down, additional AD DC can be used for authentications without any business discontinuity.

I was having trouble adding the second DC to my forest. It wasn’t able to recognize the forest and kept giving me a error code. I checked DNS and made sure everything was setup correctly. However, I figured it out. From the dashboard of my second DC I clicked on the computers name. From there it opens a window which gives me the option to change the name,domain, and group. I changed the name and added my primary DC in the domain field and clicked apply/okay. Then I went back and promoted my secondary DC to add it to an existing forest and this time it was able to recognize the forest. Now both DCs are connect are ready to go! I confirmed this by going to the primary DC and checking in user and computers to see if my secondary DC is listed under domain controllers. Tis 😊. Hope this helps anyone encountering the same problem I had. Also, thank you for taking the time to make these videos Pat. Greatly appreciated brother✊🏽

Followed all the videos up until selecting a domain from the forest. When I type in the domain from DC01...
It tells me the server is not operational. So Im now dead in the water

I have a question do we have to install another domain controller into a different server since I am made a server out of a laptop not VMware so I can't do it double

Make sure you have DNS setup correct, that can be a pain in the butt.

So the second Domain Controller is a new and separate Virtual Machine?
Yes, it’s a separate domain controller anytime you set up a net work. You should always have two domain controllers for back up.
I wan know why did you decided to deploy "Add a domain controller to an existing domain" and not other two options i just want to know the logic
I did this just to do an education videos to understand and deploy windows server. You can do it however you want. I just did it this way for a sequential order of setting up a Windows domain

Excellent content. Proabably need to do more research but Im trying to get my DC01 to connect to the internet whilst still having the internal virtualised domain. Do I need to add another NIC to VM virtualbox?
why download maps Manager is enabled in dc02 and disabled in dc01 ?

Hey Pat, Thank you for this lesson. I am having trouble with something, however. When my virtual machines boot up, they assign a DHCP address, and I don't want that. This happens every time I restart the VMs. Is there a way to remove the DHCP service so this doesn't happen? Thanks!
Yes, what do you have to do is reserve an IP address in the DHCP server. And statically a sign your server, so whatever IP address out of the DHCP scope.
