"Off to clock the shrunken brains that punctuate the squalor, yonder. Shotters on the underpasses passing rocks in rotten poplar. Doctor, doctor...your people never needed you, it's deep when human evolution seems it's superceded you..." - Is one of the most well constructed and delivered lines in rap history and deserves poet laureate status, fight me.
Love to see mans discovering Jam, once in a lifetime lyricist and IMHO the posterboy for UK hip hop. Check out Ed Scissortongue as well if you like this, peace!
Jam Baxter is a crazy lyricist he is a very surreal writer, he is like a Picasso of bars but he flows smooth. He is one half of Dead Players with Dabbla the other half.
SOOO GASSED you're exploring Jam! He's personally my favourite rapper (Ghetts is second) His subject matter is often bleak, gruesome and gritty, but his cadence flow and extensive vocabulary manage to paint mad visuals with words. A great artist.
Same, his descriptive language and imagery are unbeatable with intelligent lyricism, it's unreal. Definitely my favourite too, the whole High Focus label is so reliable. Love it all 👌
Yes some Jam Baxter! Hope you continue exploring this interesting artist! Keep up the amazing job! :) (He got some really good old tunes with the group Contact Play aswell)
Checkout 'For A Limited Time', 'Saliva' , and the Ed Scissor feat Jam Baxter track 'Excellent Donut' My favourite track (no video though) is 'Breakfast'
Yo of course we do Halloween, we created it! It's where you got it from🤣. it's originally a Celtic pagan religous festival called all hallows eve. Of course you guys commercialised it tho 🤣
Been into UK rap since the 90s. Jam Baxter is my fave at the moment. Also on the "backpack" side of the scene: Cult of the damned, Lee Scott, Black Josh, Jehst (veteran!), Foreign Beggars, Ed Scizzor, Dirty Dyke. Jam Baxter tracks: Salsa Valentina, Red Hawaiians, Dumb, Mask, All Clear. With Dead Players: Cherry Turbo, Cooked.
Why not try Cult of the Damned - Offie on for a taste of some grimey flavoured bars and into to Blah Records. And Lee Scott - Don't Tell Me for an introduction to his dope bars. Id look deeper into Lunar C's stuff for bars as well (Skwolla, Bumpin, Shabang/shallow) . Oh, and Ed Scissor - Coma is a good video introduction to the lyrical wizardry of High Focus Records. Ed Scissor - Theremin is how you paint pictures with language. Dirty Dyke - Whoops is how the uk flows in ways only the Uk do.
on an extra note (just because on the second watch i'm not sure if you put it together or not) but you've actually reacted to jam baxter before because he's 1 3rd of Dead Players. He's been in other collective colabs like contact play but dead players is the most recent as far as i know. He did a lot of duo stuff with Ed Scissortongue too which was also worth exploring. get ready for heavy metaphors and picasso style imagery
if anyone's interested, i found the original sample completely by chance. it's in the live rendition of nat king cole's nature boy. check it out and wait for the piano solo :)
You’ve already reacted to him with a few dead players tracks. But if you want a halloween track from him “Hellathon” or “Mask” ft Rag’n’Bone Man & OG Rootz (Durrty Goodz)
We have Halloween in the Netherlands, the carnaval you mentioned is only really in the south of the country (Brabant and Limburg) Officially Halloween isnt a holiday but many people celebrate it in some way and stores will have discounts etc Edit: yall should check out "Future Posse Cut One Thousand" by Dirty Dike if you havent already!
Sorry it's a bit late, but you asked about Halloween and I'm not sure anyone answered in the comments. Halloween developed from British traditions but we don't celebrate quite the same way. When Christianity arrived on our Isles it took many of our festivals and turned them into Christian feasts - the Irish 'Samhain' and Welsh/Brythonic 'Noson Calan Gaeaf' became "All Hallow's Eve". The word "Halloween" is actually the Scottish abbreviatied way of saying "Hallow's Eve". We never had pumpkins, we would carve Turnips ... which was MUCH harder to do by the way ... but when the pilgrims went to the New World and could not find turnips they discovered pumpkins, which were both larger and way easier to carve. You guys "Americanised" it and because we Brits love any excuse to make ourselves look silly, it has caught on a bit here but it's no way as big as in the US. Over here it is really more for the kids only and even then it isn't as big a deal as in the US. We do, however, treat it as a night for the supernatural and certain communities engage in some of the folklore and tradition attached to the night, but generally we just watch ghost stories on the telly these days, which is a little sad. At least the students go get drunk in fancy dress (costumes).
we do have halloween but we dont really compared to you guys. kids dont really trick or treat, maybe a little but not en masse like the americans. nothing big really happens. people might throw a party or go out to the pub in fancy dress or something but its pretty quiet really
Jam Baxter is sort of too good for his own good. The level of effort he puts into each sentence is too much for most people digest after 10 listens, let alone one. He sort of suffers from being a bit too...idk. hes writing art, not rap. He's talented to a degree thats overwhelming and so special that i just think its not possible for him to get appropriate recognition on a grand scale, and thats too bad. This person could've done anything artistically and been top 3, he just happened to choose rap.

Jam Baxter - The Stump is one of the illest things i have heard coming from the UK. Jam is super dope
Jam Baxter is a fucking genius man. Especially his first 3 albums. Whoever made his beats for those days is crazy. The prod’s name escapes me atm
You're probably thinking of Chemo - legend in the UKHH scene
SOOO GASSED you're exploring Jam! He's personally my favourite rapper (Ghetts is second) His subject matter is often bleak, gruesome and gritty, but his cadence flow and extensive vocabulary manage to paint mad visuals with words. A great artist.

Never expected to hear this song as a reaction, the reason why I love this channel 👊🏻
🍻
Here is a few other tracks that go hard from this Legend! Jam Baxter - Vines, Red Hawaiian , Caravan, but The Stump is the sickest thing on the list.

You should check out his newest tracks. It features a Spanish artist, Granuja. Jam actually drops a couple of bars in Spanish. Really smooth stuff.
He's awesome LIVE. I highly recommend going to one of his gigs.
Check out the rest of the OG High Focus crew!
Yes we celebrate Halloween
Life in the balance by the 4 owls has jam on it 🔥🔥
It's probably time to look up Baxter's 'for a limited time only' for a reaction. It's a masterpiece
UK Classic!
The instrumental on this slaps 🔥
You’ve already reacted to him with a few dead players tracks. But if you want a halloween track from him “Hellathon” or “Mask” ft Rag’n’Bone Man & OG Rootz (Durrty Goodz)
Please do Jam Baxter - Vines, always been my favourite tune of his and its absolute wizardry from the best lyricist in the UK bar none.
We have Halloween in the Netherlands, the carnaval you mentioned is only really in the south of the country (Brabant and Limburg)
Officially Halloween isnt a holiday but many people celebrate it in some way and stores will have discounts etc
