    Why as a white belt my first reaction it is to grab the forearm when in fact your comment about grabbing the hand makes perfect sense. Thanks as always Prof Chew.

      Probably them movies always showing someone grabbing the forearms when they are being choked

      I think it's just intuitive to grab the forearm as thats where the pressure is being applied from

    I'm new and got guillotine by a great young lad whose doing wrestling and bjj together. Much weaker than me but he jumped on it really quickly. I obviously get caught by adults too so all thi is super valuable

  • @bmstylee
    @bmstylee 3 года назад +2

    This is helpful for me since the guillotine is one of my go-tos. Everyone keeps the arms tight but they let their necks float loose. It's always there if you look for it. So knowing the defense for it is a big help.

    I've been shying away from the double leg because I hate getting caught in these, going to give this a shot next time!

    • @alexanderson1091
      @alexanderson1091 3 года назад +16

      SHOOT BETTER, I’m a wrestler so I’ve been cooking people in standing position because I put everything into a really low shot, protect my neck and finish the double leg as hard and as fast as I can and cover immediately, use ferocity and power when you grapple.

    • @alexanderson1091

      If you get caught in a guillotine while shooting your shot is bad

    • @jpm8960
      @jpm8960 Год назад +9

      @@alexanderson1091 exactly. Working on being super fast when you got your technique right is the key of GREAT grapplers. Khabib is the best MMA grappler of all time, everyone was traning for him for months or years and knew how to defend the takedowns he used the most, all the variations, counters etc, Im sure in the gym they were defending well but then couldnt do nothing and looked like amateurs, why??? Fast and perfect technique, if u getting caught so much in a guillotine when shooting, its ok to learn how to get out and prevent it, but you need get you technique right and then work on being FAST, like a bull, like a train. Eveyone knows about how key fast punches are, well in grappling being fast can be even more important. We all know how to defend a jab, but when a quick jab comes to you, you might not see it coming!

    I hope u see this because I need a bit of advice. So I moved cities and started at a new jiu jitsu gym after being with the same crew for 4-5 yrs. I felt super green compared to my old gym. I was a blue belt no gi under my old coach but here I feel like I’m less than that now I also had to take a yr and half off because of covid on and off the Matt’s the yr and a half. But I just felt super super green. Maybe it’s an ego thing idk.

      Bit more back story don’t mean to ramble 23 yr old male wrestled for 10yrs jiu jitsu 4-5 yrs. 3 of us were kind of the big dogs are purple belt and me and another blue belt who were enforcers when needed but was there for along time and then comen to this new gym it felt more like a culture shock and more of a humbling expirience I guess. Wasn’t one of the best in the gym anymore. Which is great but the initial shock just kind of threw me off I’ve had more time to sit back and think on it. Goal is just to grow and do my best to be up there with the best in this gym. At first it was kind of disheartening but I took some time to think on it and why should it be disheartening. This is a good thing I’m able to grow more here and get better than what I was.

    hey! first comment, but on the serious note, I love what yall do and i have been able to incorporate these techniques in my own rolling,( i'm just a white belt), and have been able to last longer, and longer as i practice more. Again, thank you for what yall do, and i look forward to the next video!

    I've unfortunately severely hurt my friend with basic front guillotine
    They spoke like Yoda for 2 weeks
    But my question for them Is what if your much weaker. I didn't know either they were so weak or I was pretty solid. I now have that old man strength that I'm much more careful not to damage their spine if I'm forced I'm a bad situation... I avoid all force if I can. IDF SF training, bjj, boxing etc made me appreciate the prodigy athletes & how hurting ppl you know or even just live in the same vicinity is soul crushing. Even to judge punishment worth: offense are vile calculations

    What if he also has your arm, like in 3:51. How do you escape the choke from that point forward and get to actual side control? You have room to breathe, but he cotrols your head and your arm is stuck. How do I get them out?
