With the recent breakthroughs in NR2003 modding, seeing a revival of road course racing interest would be an absolute dream - with a new benchmark of visual fidelity and performance! Redline GTP revival is extremely improbable but would be amazing.
Oh my gosh - this is amazing ! Everything is sooo spot-on . While watching this i turned the volume up om the HI-Fi ..... and the floor was just a rumbling !!! this Sim always has soper sound ! Thanx Jake .... A + Approved !!!!!!!!!!!
Don't forget the physics mods that have been done to support the modifieds, Sellers Gaming and I put out a physics mod for them supporting both tour and SK mods, it's available at Stunod!
This is what really caught me off guard when I started NR2003: the mods aren’t related to the physics. You need different exe’s, or it’s the cup car you’re driving always lol.
Bit of a coincidence that you post a video on NR2003 modifieds after me installing the original NR2003 '03 modified cars into my own installation of NR2003 (Which I only do for short/quick races due to using a laptop and numbpad to drive). Absolutely right with the original mod being off with the model proportions. Imma get this downloaded now.
I've said it before, but you really should consider installing the Project Wildfire patches. They were the team Papyrus gave the keys for N2003 to so to speak when the end came. Their patches added 3D crowds to the grandstands (so much nicer looking than vanilla N2003's "splotches", which especially look awful in this video with the half empty grandstands), pit stall tape markings, enhanced damage modeling for the Cup cars, etc. And taking advantage of physics that Papyrus patched in with the final official patch, they did the Craftsman Truck mod, the IROC mod, Busch, Trans-Am, and a lot of track conversions from NASCAR Racing 3 and Legends like Mesa Marin and Bowman Gray (and I think a track or two completely from scratch were made).
I'm a console gamer but you got to respect moder who love the games they mod make amazing content. What a great sprint race I hope we get to see another 1 soon!
This game is so old that literally ANY computer built after like 2007 will run this game perfectly fine with plenty of fps and highest graphics settings. I know your a console gamer, but this game is definitely worth checking out for anybody who owns a computer / PC that is newer than 15 years old.
The modified mods out are decent but the wheels are not to scale and don't look right. This looks really good. So awesome to see another major mod get released and especially by DMR!!!!
Last time I tried to play nr2003 I couldn't get it to work right with my CSL DD. I think I'll try it again because these modders put a ton of work into making the cars and tracks look fabulous. If I get good enough at it maybe I'll convert some of my tri-track iracing paints assuming no one else has done those schemes yet :)
I love this mod now maybe one day we will get updated late models edit: in reference to you haven't seen anything from them they just made a new 1975-1976 Iroc mod that would be really cool for you to check out.
How would you say the physics are on NR2003 mods like this? Do you feel like the downforce or grip that the car should have is present? I’ve always loved playing with the mods but I end up feeling like I’m just driving 2003 cup cars with modified skins on them and then it destroys the illusion.
Physics are whatever you've got. If you've got an altered .exe with modified physics, it will feel like a modified. If you're running the standard .exe and it's CTS or GNS, it's going to still be CTS or GNS.
Am I correct on thinking the no.18 featured in a TV series about modified racing on dirt at some point? I'd love to know the name of it because I wanna re-watch it
So I haven't played NR2003 for years - have the physics ever been modded? Or, are the only choices still just the 4 original options that papyrus gave us? What physics does this mod use?
Mods just change the looks of the cars. Physics will be whatever you've got on your system. Not sure if it comes in Cup, GNS, CTS or PTA but those can be swapped out with the physics editor to whatever you wish. To get different physics you'd need to change them, create an altered .exe and then run that .exe instead of the standard NR2003.exe.
GPLaps, Do you ever share or have a file share with all the AI edits you have done over time for the different games/cars/tracks? I would love to dive into some races you have set up and edited the AI for.
We had a local 1/8 mile asphalt oval track that raced modifed and a series called "pro modifieds". I am not sure what the rule differences were but the pro mods were faster. I think horsepower and tire difference. Each car was bespoke...like you said, based on some kind of stock vehicle usually. Not always though. Massively offset cockpit. They sounded and looked so cool and nothing since has ever done it for me the same way. Most of the current modified asphalt racing is good racing, but everyone runs the same chassis and all, and it's kinda...boring. The liveries are all that seperate them cosmetically from one another. I used to love going back in the pits and seeing all these cool machines. The track still exists, but it is now 1/4 mile oval...most would say for the better, but I loved it when it was 1/8 mile. Lots and lots of action. Wheel to wheel. It was awesome. They raced everything oval track there...loads of series with cars from the 30's to 90's...and newer these days. I would like to build the track, in 1/8th mile and the 1/4 in this game...and maybe a few of my buddy's race cars.
Sure- IRL the tachs are usually rotated to provide better legibility of the critical range/redline to the driver. You don’t see the RL drivers view with the sim and the steering wheel is not displayed/turned on in the sim. I’m from a road racing background, but it’s a very common thing in all racing.
Don't sweat the bad restarts too much. Apparently, the AI doesn't suffer from cold tyres at restarts. It's a bug. Pretty frustrating when there's a late race restart on a cloudy day and you struggle to survive on cold, worn tyres while the AI just whizzes past you (or wrecks you) and it's only like 20 laps to go.
This mod looks very similar to the original version of the iRacing modified. Edit: The one issue I see with this model, and for a 21 year old game I do realize I'm nitpicking, but the front clip is too wide. There's too much mass between the front tires. Looks almost like and IMCA/ UMP dirt modified style front clip on this car vs the skinnier front clip of a tour type modified... Again, for a 21 yr old game, that's a nitpick...
Nvidia just released RTX Remix “Create stunning RTX remasters of classic games. Built on NVIDIA Omniverse, RTX Remix allows modders to easily capture game assets, automatically enhance materials with generative AI tools, and quickly create stunning RTX remasters with full ray tracing and DLSS 3.” I’d love to see a remastered NR2003.
RTX Remix will NOT work with N2003.. its too old.. it uses dx8 (iirc).. and also build for fix function pipelines... RTX Remix requires programmable shaders etc built into the game to begin with...
Are they accelerating too quickly? What setup are you using? The AI uses the setup so sometimes, replacing it with your personal setup, or using the setup yourself, can help. Other tweaks can be made to the 'track.ini' file if they are still getting away too quickly, mainly the "ai_accel_modifier =" line. Reduce that number if they are accelerating too quickly or too much, reduce it if they aren't getting off the line fast enough.
@@Ziggy_Moonglow It's not so much a settings or setup problem, it's mainly because the ai always have warm tires and can't spin their wheels. So the first few laps are treacherous and you'll always lose some spots
BABE WAKE UP, GPLAPS JUST UPLOADED
Now that’s excitement for ya.
Model doesn't look short on polygons. Really really nicely done.
I know about the featherweight modifieds thanks to NASCAR 2005: Chase for the Cup. I wish they receievd a more attention from the general public.
*Featherlight... trailer company sponsorship back i nthe day...
Literally same. The modifieds were arguably my favorite cars to race on that game!
it's 2024 and a game from 2003 still is one of my staples
It's amazing how accurate Seekonk and Star look, and even more amazing that somebody modeled them and put them in a game
I loved running Star. Raced there in the late 90's and I couldn't believe how accurate that was in NR2003!
Awesome to see more modified content. I'd love if someone tried to do one for the 80s era when we still had Pintos and Vega style bodies.
And Richie Evans...
@@FloridaManRacer 70s >>>>>
@@EduardoBrito-hx7gl Richie was around til 85... so both would be fine with me lol.
@@FloridaManRacer 70s was the best looking era in stockcar and modifield series , we need a 70s modifield mod

that one mod where you had to change so much of the files
Oh my gosh - this is amazing ! Everything is sooo spot-on . While watching this i turned the volume up om the HI-Fi ..... and the floor was just a rumbling !!! this Sim always has soper sound ! Thanx Jake .... A + Approved !!!!!!!!!!!
I remember seeing some of these cars at Riverside Park in Agawam MA back in the 90s.
Too bad Six Flags took over that area I live near Agawam and only been to Six Flags once

nice to see some attention for nr03
I saw this casually in the NR2003 subreddit, but now I’ve gotta check this out!
Great video mate. So many mods for racing these days. Great to see
Great video. Makes me excited for the 2024 Whelen Tour! Might drive down to CT for the Icebreaker at Thompson
I paused the Dayton 24 to watch this. Cheers for the upload!
NR2003, a great sim which I still drive in my 70s. Cheers!
Grew up watching Modifieds run at Stafford and its one of my favorite things.
Wow. I love the short track intensity in SRX the game and gotta download this and try it out. Thanks for another great video.
If you haven't raced Nr2003 you're missing out

I gotta say I love your work bud, my home track is White Mountain Motorsports Park lmao and I can only race it on NR2003 similar to Seekonk and Star.
Excited to try this!
Nice I was hoping you’d cover this mod
Man, you're always pulling neat shit outta nowhere. Now I gotta go short track racing lol
It was a console game and not a Sim, but NASCAR: Dirt to Daytona had a really fun Pavement Modified.
That was such an underrated game!

As a fellow New Englander, ive always said NASCAR doesn't broadcast the modifieds live because nobody would watch the Cup cars anymore.
As a central new yorker (Rome, home of Richie Evans) I agree with this statement :)
Wow amazing mod👏

Ah yes, the mod I was helping to build....until "no longer required" lol. I learnt my nr2003 lesson real quick.
Oh wow. Nice find.
Nascar 1 definitely had a modified car set with an altered body shape. Same physics though.
How would you say the physics are on NR2003 mods like this? Do you feel like the downforce or grip that the car should have is present? I’ve always loved playing with the mods but I end up feeling like I’m just driving 2003 cup cars with modified skins on them and then it destroys the illusion.
