The maester told the king that they can either save the child, or BOTH will die. She wasn’t going to survive childbirth either way. And in the end both died anyway… it’s tragic honestly.
No, he said save _one_ or both. That means he could have saved the mother at the expense of the baby, or saved the baby at the expense of the mother, or left it to the gods at the risked of losing both. Viserys chose the baby because he was so convinced it was a boy and thus an heir.
@@antho4242 Yeah, I was wrong about that. I misunderstood the Maester saying they could sacrifice "one to save the other" as they could save either. My bad. Not sure why you've got to be a dick about it tho.
this Viserys (Rhaenyra's father) is Viserys the 1st. Dany's brother was Viserys the third. and being the king's cupbearer is actually one of the most prestigious jobs you could have. it means the king trusts you enough to serve him his drinks.
Well indeed. Maternal lethality in pre modern area was very high. For Example in Britain between 1700-1750 the maternal death rate was at 10.5 per thousand births. The infant mortality was even higher. Of course it was considerably lower in high social families, like a royal family, but still child birth was the main cause of death for women.
His favourite character is Victarion Greyjoy yeah. He enjoys Tyrion a lot ("who doesn't love a good villain?" Were his words iirc) but he's said many times that Victarion is his fav
I have just a slightly different take on Daemon. When they showed him listening in to the Small Council and he smirked when Viserys said being King would bore him, I think he was agreeing with Viserys. I think he truly really wants to be his brother’s Hand of the King, as he told Viserys in the Throne Room. Yes, we did first meet Daemon sitting on the Iron Throne. But I don’t think he was celebrating his nephew’s death. Before he was asked to say something at the brothel, he was sitting by himself and looking rather grim, not celebratory. It was Otto Hightower who reported to the King that Daemon made this toast. And I think he twisted the scenario to fit his own agenda. This episode has already established that Otto and Daemon do not like each other. That is just my reading of these scenes, and the intentions of Daemon and Otto.
@@manvirshergill1739 ehh there aren't many logical explanation he was by himself the whole time and nobody else went into the room other then one of his wives who I doubt could have killed him , suicide isn't completely unbelievable he'd have good reason beyond just losing , if he persisted house targaryen would die with him but if he accepted defeat and let jaeharys sit the throne the targaryens survive I think it makes perfect since .
Just a Fyi, Daemon - The Rogue Prince is the most compelling Character in this Series. Not to mention he is the most Fan Favourite and also the Favourite Character of the Writer even while creating and to watch...
Welcome back to the Westeros!!! This was an awesome series premiere. That was an awesome reaction. I like Rhaenyra, her dragon Syrax and Daemon and his dragon Caraxes. It’s important to note that this is based off of Fire and Blood, written by George R R Martin. A big reason Game of Thrones sucked near the end is because the writers ran out of source material and couldn’t write a good ending themselves. House of the Dragon on the other hand, has its source material complete.
3:19 yea I know, the actress made it very clear and confirmed what she wanted to imply with certain moments (more prominent with young rhaenyra and young alicent)
There was no choice… Aemma would have died regardless unable to give birth therefore both, but most people believe that Viserys should have told her of the decision he made… surely more milk of the poppy?!
@@StanleyMabongaIf daemon isnt around nothing intrusting happening in show , he creates chaos that’s make show intrusting to watch.(until 1st to 5th episode) then they start giving others characters spot light
It's a difference in responsibility. Rhaenyra Alicent and Viserys as characters carry the majority of dramatic scenes in the story. Daemon doesn't. He is just an interesting element not a driving force of the narrative.
Noteworthy: Arya (in GOT) is pronounced with 2 syllables, not 3. (Y is a consonant here). But, pronounce it how you like. Maisie prefers Aria (3 syllables) though she says it is Arya in the show.

it's like when Jon Snow was made a Steward - the personal Steward to the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, to groom him for command

The myth is that the Iron Throne cuts kings it deems to be unworthy. That is an in-universe legend though, not confirmed fact.
Its just a myth even none kings get cut by the throne it's a chair made out of swords anyone will get cut even the conquer was cut by but once .
