There was no reason for Rhino to release these two titles for $40 RHF treatment. The originals sound fine and they can still be had for just a few dollars. Rhino has access to a massive catalog and they chose two titles like this for RHF? It makes no sense. You should have at least done a comparison to original copies when you are pushing $40 reissues.
Wish I could have, but I don't have the og's. Also one thing to consider, since both these albums are from the early to mid 70's it is nice for some of us that don't have og's to have the opertunity to purchase new and reamastered versions of the album. Sure we can always locate og's but with these new Rhino options we can buy a brand new (hopefully) pop and scratch free version of the these albums. Just a thought. Thank you for sharring your thoughts.
@MikesVinylExperience i bought the Luxury Liner album because of your video. It's my favorite Emmylou Harris album. It's sounds way better than the original and it has more dynamic range compared to the Japanese release. I have the original Grievous angel album and an earlier re-release so i didn't buy that one. Thanks for your video.
I understand how you feel. With the catalogue they have in fornt of them you have to wonder what makes them choose which albums to re-release and give the high fidelity treatment to. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
No, not even close! I only purchase the audiophile releases that I truly love. So If I don't have an og or some other copy of an album I may purchase the audiophile pressing if it is something that I like. Or if happen to have an og or some other pressing of an album that gets the audiophile treatment, I may purchase that in hopes that it is a better pressing of the album. An expample of this is the Steely Dan UHQR's that AP is currently doing. I have all the original pressings of these albums but I am a huge Steely Dan fan and want the very best pressings available so I am purchasing the series as they come out. Hope that explains my approach. Thank you for asking and watching.
I Love these Albums, Thank you Rhino!!!
They are very good indeed. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing this. Most important albums to get rereleased.
Thank you. And I agree they are both excellent albums
Many thanks Mike
Thank you.
In My Hour of Darkness is Gram, Emmylou, and Linda Ronstadt singing together.
Such great music! Thank you.
The “live” recording was a studio recording with canned “live” effects.
That is correct. I saw that on the credits on discogs. Thank you!
The word is grievous, not grievious. Nice review though, I love this Rhino series.
Thanks for catching my hick english! Agree, Rhino is doing great with the High Fidelity series. Thank you!

With these two releases I have lost interest.

One of the best rerelases ever. Bye
Do you buy every single album released as an audiophile record? 😂
