"food waste is a product of lack of imagination" is such a good way to put it. Generational skills have been lost. People haven't been learning from their grandparents for generations. My great-great-grandpa would've done fine in the woods but I would struggle if I moved out of my own county.
Honey some of them are dangerous to eat. Food rot mostly cause of bad bacteria and you don't want in your system. His foods were not that rotten though
Can‘t be soft when there‘s a world war going on
It's a trade off I think, people aren't learning old generational skills for preserving food, but information is more accessible than ever and one can learn an unbelievable amount about different methods online from all around the world. And we have more accurate food safety information so people aren't going to poison themselves using bad methods.

This is one of the most popular snacks for iranian kids and adults! And its called lavashak. In iran its usually made with very ripe plums or apricots (also pomegranates, kiwis, barberries, sour cherries and etc.) and it is dried by the sun.
This is indeed a very nice Iranian sour snack. I used to buy them from the Iranian stores in Dubai.
In America we have pre packaged fruit roll ups which are ≈1% red 40.

@@nuggywaggy5869 put it in your car and close your air vents. Put it under a glass container in your home. Or outside. Pretty self explanatory
Surprisingly, this is a common childhood snack for American kids too. We call it fruit leather like the video, or fruit strips. Apricot is really common for them here, as well as strawberry and just an assortment of fruits. They taste really good too. They are not the same as fruit roll ups, which a lot of people confuse them with for some reason.

Oh its a natural "fruit roll~up" without all the corn syrup and sugars that companies put in them!!❤❤
Honestly that just made me realize they could easily make healthy all natural fruit roll ups and they choose to do this instead. It wouldn’t even be that expensive to make either, just buy all the nearly expired fruits from local markets, grind up, bake, roll up, package, sell. Might do it myself now that I think about it tbh.
Exactly and some being overripe adds the extra sweet taste… in love with this channel
I like the part where he shows exactly how to do it
@V0NRH1NE that's because they produce MILLIONS and hundreds of tonns of it. At once, and ship it across the world. And it has to have a long and stable shelf life....some of you clearly don't know the real world.
Of course doing it this way is better. But doing it this way your only making one or 2 sheets, for your family. Meanwhile companies are producing literal tonns of these to be distributed across the world/country.
Your comparing things that should be compared
The companies don’t “put in” the corn syrup. They’re made out of solid corn syrup, they’re just fruit “flavored” lmao
Cholo had a change of heart lol. “No more chainsaw decapitations for me, food RUclips videos from here on out.”
In fact, this dish is found in some traditional cuisines. For example, in our country it is usually made from apples (but it is possible to add other fruits), To do this, first boil the puree and then dry it in thin layers in the oven.
What does it taste like. Is it tart? I know it would be dependent on the types of fruits but does it feel like it needs some sugar?
@@Matt-jc8rqusually not. they are tart for sure, i like them that way. try it out and adjust sweetness accordingly. i recommend making it with black grapes
We make it from apricots and sugar. It is delicious, good for bowel movements, and can be re-dissolved to make juice

@@hugon6717it actually tastes like a slightly tangy apricot juice. Though a lot of people add too much water to make more juice which makes it a bit too mellow so don't be discouraged if you try it once and it feels watered-down.

I will say as someone who works in fast food, Im certain a lot of that food waste is restaurants throwing away MASSIVE amounts of food. I've seen several pizzas simply thrown away at the end of the day.
dunkin donuts is burning their leftovers every single day
lack of imagination
Half of the food at buffets are wasted. Another major one is the grocery stores that dispose of, rather than donate, good food that is past their sell by date
I think it’s also majorly due to regulation. From what i heard american FDA regulations are so tight that the only thing to do with leftover food on closing hour is to throw them away (correct me if i’m wrong). Where i’m from, the stores aren’t prohibited from selling them on a discount, allowing employees to bring them home, or giving them to people in need.. so a lot of restaurants do this here
Thats atrocious. All the starving people in this country and they’re doing that. I bet if it was outlawed theyd still find a way to keep doing it

Fun fact: originally this comes from Iran. They call it “lavashak” in Persian. They like it sour, so they’ll typically use barberry or sour cherry juice as a base to mix other fruits with.
Ephesians 6:10-18 says,
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. The bible is no old book. You have to really let Christ open your eyes; to see the world in shambles. Many people say it's a religion to lock up people in chains, and say it's a rule book.. why? Because people hate hearing the truth, it hurts their flesh, it's hurts their pride, it's exposes on what things have they done..people love this world so much, s*x, money, power, women, supercars.. things of this world. Still trying to find something that can fill that emptiness in your heart. You can't find that in this world.. only in Christ, the bible is no chains, it's a chainbreaker. Breaking your sins into pieces... Repent now, and turn back to the true Lord only.. God bless.😊😊😊😊

What an inspiration you are.
We need to fight industrial food waste more tho man. The shit that gets tossed for being “out of date” even if it never left the freezer makes my head spin.
Dude, this is called pestil in Turkey. We do pestil for centuries in a traditional way and let’em dried under sun in the late summer. Absolutely the best way to preserve fruits for winter. Greets
Would you mind please letting us know how you make it?
@@MajorasMaskk quite the same way
smash out the ingredients
spread out them on a clean cloth under the sun
let them to dry until they get kinda leathery texture
We make it every year from leftover apples and raspberries. Greetings from Russia.
It preserves it until Winter?
@@BroccoliBrigardist if you want preserve for long just put it in the fridge
