    I can't believe I've been vegan ten years without getting a fruit dehydrator. Thank you so much!

    Great video. I'll be making my first attempt at making these this weekend, and like that you added no sweeteners to your mix. Do you find that the mango taste becomes sweeter after dehydration or does it taste the same as not being dehydrated?
    Thanks for the upload. Really appreciate it. 🙂

    • @thehomesteadnurse
      @thehomesteadnurse  6 месяцев назад

      Thank you! I find it depends on how ripe the mangoes are at the time of dehydration that determines the sweetness.

    Will the regular metal tray work just as well or do I need a special tray?

    • @thehomesteadnurse

      Depends on your dehydrator, but I don’t see why not

    10 hours at what temp? my says 155F and can I do other fruit like apple or strawberries?

    • @thehomesteadnurse
      @thehomesteadnurse  11 месяцев назад +1

      I would say anything temp higher then that you will be cooking so your good! I would try 10 hrs and if it not completely dry you can always add time.

    Im in the process of making my first batch of Banana Pineapple fruit leather. When I blended the puree and poured it into the tray it was a bright yellow and now a few hours into drying it's starting to turn a little brown, is this normal?
    TIA :)

    • @thehomesteadnurse
      @thehomesteadnurse  3 месяца назад +1

      Yes, It can happen especially if the pineapple is very moist going in. I would just look out for any white spots on the brown areas that indicates mold. You can squeeze lemon juice around your pineapple before you dehydrate it next time to try to prevent the brown.

    how long dobthey last in the fridge?

    • @thehomesteadnurse
      @thehomesteadnurse  Год назад +4

      You do not have to put them in the fridge since they are dehydrated. If you dry the fruit completely with dehydration it can last 6 months to a year in your pantry.

      Depending on where you store it can last from six months to a year.

    When I dehydrated it at 65c for 9hrs . A layer of liquid sugar appeared on surface. How can I solve this problem.
    Should I change the recipe and ingredients??

    • @thehomesteadnurse
      @thehomesteadnurse  11 месяцев назад

      Looks like it is still needs more time to dry, try to dry it for 3 more hours & see.

    Why not just use a peeler to peel the mango? Or cut the mango in half (short ways) around the seed, twist the two halves and the seed comes right out. Or cut the mango in half long ways around the seed, the two halves will be similar to when you cut an Avocado in half. Cut the mango into little squares inside of the peel, then turn the peel inside out and you can scoop all the little mango squares out of the peel.

      I cut it in half long ways on both sides of seed and peel the fruit off the outer peel. Less waste that way. And more deliciousness!!

    Why don't these guys do the food prep before they start so we don't have to sit through peeling, measuring etc ?

    • @thehomesteadnurse
      @thehomesteadnurse  29 дней назад +1

      You can most definitely prep before, some like to see the process others don’t. That’s okay, can’t please everyone.

    What a waste of mango peeling it that way.
