They are actually nocturnal animals. Only because of the closer of the people they come out to eat during the day. But they actually don't like the sunlight (they are prey animals). So it closes its eyes.
I like how this critter doesn't eat it super fast like their life depends on it. It just chills and takes it's time to enjoy it, it even looks like it's smiling!
Accurate. Quokkas have no natural predators. They live on an island pretty much all to themselves off the western coast and given it's a major tourist trap and camping area, they're pretty used to humans too.
they do have known predators? dingoes and birds or prey for one, and then dogs, cats, and foxes as well. Also i dont think you know how big they get either. they can be like a foot and a half tall.
@@Greeblen I'm sure you may know this, but the misconception that quokka have no natural predators comes from a place called Bald Island, which some call "quokka island". A population of 600-1000 quokka live there and in that specific location there are no predators. This became pretty widespread and turned into the "quokka have no predators" you see here.

First wanted to skip but then it was like, yes. Yes I want to see this animal eating a leaf. I need this now. So thank you, you helped me
I like how the leaf was extremely noticeable, like how in older animations you can tell what's about to be interacted with because it's drawn differently to the background.
@@odinalastor4175 If you mean about the animation tpthing, I think it's because still backgrounds used to be made in a different method/medium, not on an animation cell. Like they're not going to animate every leaf moving in a forest, so someone painted the background and anything that moved was drawn on animation cells. At least, that's what I remember. There was a great clip I saw ages ago of an anime or cartoon where the characters were running in a chase scene and one of them noticed the floor was different and explained how they knew they should avoid walking there because that floor was sure to give way. Then the 'background' piece of ground they were standing on crumbled away under them xD It was pretty good, I wish I could find it again.
Until 4 minutes ago, I had never heard of a quokka. Thanks for posting. 🙂 An now, thanks to AnimalFactGuide, I learned: Quokkas are herbivores who primarily feed at night, meaning they are mainly nocturnal. They eat the leaves, stems, and bark of many plants in addition to grass. If necessary, they can survive for long periods of time without food or water by living off the fat stored in their tails. Groups of quokkas live in territories, which are defended by dominant males. They often live in tall grass near water sources. Quokkas can also climb trees! The island of Rottnest near Perth, Australia is the primary home of the quokka, a type of marsupial. Aside from Rottnest Island, small groups of quokkas also inhabit the mainland in Western Australia, as well as Bald Island, a small island to the southwest.
This video was everything that was promised about a Quokka eating a leaf, and more! Bravo! That was definitely two minutes and twenty seconds well spent. I particularly loved the considered methodical way in which the Quokka munched the leaf, and the blissful expression on his cute little face throughout the whole endeavour.
That's what they're famous for. The Smiling Macropod. Also, they aren't human shy at all, and don't typically run when approached. So you can observe these little guys from a lot closer than normal. Keep in mind that they're still wild animals, so not too close! But you can typically get within 10 feet of them without any issues.
