The 59th episode of Tapasya recalls the journey of an enthusiastic and competitive group of students who grew up together as one batch from the early 2000s for about fifteen years. They emerged as a 'trendsetting' batch in many ways to their successors in SDN.
Tapasya - the training sessions, is a series of videos that will be published on a monthly basis (as episodes) on the last day of every month.
The students featuring in Tapasya series have about 6-8 classes every month. Each episode of Tapasya is a cumulative overview of what is taught to them during the course of the month.
Along with the training sessions of the children, Tapasya also holds inputs on teaching techniques from Smt. Sheela Unnikrishnan and useful tips from the regular performers of Sridevi Nrithyalaya.

Though we do not put up copyright declarations in all our videos, we strictly adhere to legal formalities and procedures regarding copyrights.
We honestly work hard and spend a good time and amount of our resources to produce our music and dance videos. They are produced and uploaded in our social platforms solely to take our art to all those raiskas around the globe who are unable to reach us in person to enjoy SDN's art live.
It is not about 'misuse' or 'trying to support' our dance and audio productions by just giving credits. Art is for all for sure. Our productions uploaded in social platforms are for the art lovers worldwide to WATCH and ENJOY but definitely not for copying or reproducing without SDNT's authorisation.
SDNT has unanimously derived to this strong conclusion. Therefore, SDN or any individual from SDN would be not to able to grant anyone permission to reproduce our work of any form.

Bharatnatyam is a penance itself
Smt Harini and Smt Rajadarshini keeping the flame of the older batch continuing in the present seniors, now filled with several similar dedicated students (who've also turned into SDN teachers in their own right). Thank you to all current SDN seniors for remaining devoted to the divine kalaa given to us by Shivakaami-Nataraaja, so that bhaktas like me can continue to experience the aananda that it gives. I'm so very grateful. Many thanks SDN guru for producing talented students both in the past, as well as finding and inculcating steadfast bhaktas that continue the sacred kalaa.

It was nice to see the legacies of sdn..Congrats to harinie and rajadarshini for staying with the sdn family for such long years!🥳😃..but it would have been better if we could also see the journey of the rest of the Kool kidz cause they've also carried out dance for so such long years and still they are carrying 🤗

I'm not a dancer, but I have a personal passion and admiration for Bharatanatyam for many, many years. There's something about it that calls my soul. I remember between 2000 and 2010 when Harinie and Medha Hari were two of the most admired young dancers. They were both truly admired. And is so beautiful to see them both still dancing and growing. Is not easy to be a dancer for life, but Bharatanatyam is more than that. It is a prayer to the Divine.

"ஓரு ஆங்கில மோகம் பிடித்த விமர்சகன்" பல வருடங்களுக்கு முன் சொன்னது நினைவில் வருகிறது!
அப்போதெல்லாம் இப்படிப் பரதத்திற்குள் வருவதற்கு எளிய வழிகள் இல்லை! சபாக் காரியதரிசி என்று ஒரு "பரத முனி" இருப்பார். அவரைக் கட்டுப் படுத்தும் ஒரு "நடத்தரசன், ட்ரஸ்டி" இருப்பார். இவர்களின் அருட்கடாட்சம் இல்லாமல் மேடைஏறவே முடியாது!
அப்படியே அரங்கேற்றம் ஆனாலும் "பெரிய இடத்துப் பெண்களைப் போலவும் திரை நட்சத்திரங்களைப் போலவும்" தமது பரதக் கலையை அவர்கள் ரசிகர்களுக்குக் கொண்டு சேர்க்க முடியாது! எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் மேலாக அரசியல் செல்வாக்கின் அரவணைப்பும் தேவைப் பட்டதாக இருந்தது அன்று!
யூட்யூப் எனும் ஒரு மகா சக்தி வாய்ந்த ஊடகம் இந்த முயற்சியில் எல்லையற்ற ஆதரவு தந்திருக்கிறது. இன்றும் தந்து வருகிறது. இத்தனை இலட்சம் பேர் உள்ள ரசிக மகா சமுத்திரம் உங்கள் பரதத்தை ரசித்து ஆதரித்து மகிழ்வதற்கு யூட்யூப் தான் பேருதவி செய்திருக்கிறது.
யாருடைய அருட் கடாட்சத்தையும் எதிர்பாரமல் எந்த இளைஞரும் தனது பரதத் திறமையை அரங்கேற்றலாம் என்றிருப்பது ஒரு மாபெரும் வரம்!
இன்றைய இளைஞர்களுக்கு அந்தக் காலத்தில் இருந்த "அரங்கேற்ற வேதனை" சரியாகப் புரியாது இல்லையா?
சபா சபாவாக ஏறி இறங்கி, காரியரிசிகளைக் காண்ட்டீனில் உபசரித்து, பெரிய இடத்துச் சிபாரிசு பிடித்து, நிகழ்ச்சிக்கு வசூல் வருவதற்கு நல்ல விளம்பரமும் டிக்கெட் விற்பனையாளர்களையும் தேடிப் பிடித்து - - - - - எல்லாவற்றிறிம் மேலாகத் தமிழ்ப் பத்திரிக்கைகளின் ஆசிரியப் பெருமக்களின் மேலான ஆதரவை வாங்கி - - - அதற்கும் மேலாக அன்று இருந்தார்களே "திரு. சுப்புடு" போன்ற விமரிசகர்கள், அவர்களுக்குப் பிடித்த மாதிரி நடனத்தை அமைத்து - - - - அட-ட-ட-ட-டா! "வீட்டைப் பட்டிப் பார்; கல்யாணம் பண்ணிப் பார்; அரங்கேற்றம் பண்ணிப் பார்" என்று ஆகிவிடும் இல்லையா?
மீண்டும் உங்களுக்கும் உங்களுடன் இத்தனை ஆண்டுகளாக வளர்ந்து இன்றும் உடனிருக்கும் இந்த நடன மணிகளுக்கும் மனமரந்த நல்வாழ்த்துக்கள்!
இளைஞர்களைக் கட்டி இழுத்துச் சென்று அநாகரீகங்களைப் பழக்கவும் திசைமாற்றவும்,
இலக்கற்ற வாழ்க்கையில் தள்ளவும், பாரம்பரியக் கலைகளையும் பாரம்பரியப் பழக்கங்களையும் மறக்கடிக்கவும் இலட்சக் கணக்கான ஊடகங்கள் இருக்கும் இன்றைய சூழலில் அவை எதையும் நினைக்காமல் பரதத்திற்காகவே இருக்கும் செல்வி. ஜீவிதா உள்ளிட்ட நடன மணிகளுக்கு ஆயிரம் முறை பாராட்டுக்கள்! நல்வாழ்த்துக்கள்!

I've seen you tapasya episode 1 where you've said that until the children gets well with muzhumandai and aramandai they should not be initiated with adavus. But as i remember, when i first joined my dance school i was straightly taught thatta adavu after few exercises and without even completing all the adavus, that is, just after That Thai Tha ha i even had a stage performance (group dance) which my teacher told to is my arangetram . I worried now. What should i do ? I've took one year drop from dance because of family and study pressure. I was about to join back. Should i join there itself or try somewhere? I'm really worried about this please help me with this ma'am.
All the discussions in our Tapasya episodes are mainly focused on the children who are starting the dance lessons from tender age… few episodes are done for the children in teens… each school follow their own methodology to teach students… nothing is wrong. Main focus of a student should be in consistent practice to reach perfection… best wishes to you.
