Just want to mention that the immense amount of processing power needed to have ChatGPT-4 in every response from an NPC in a game like Skyrim would be cost-prohibitive with most game models, not to mention take up a large chunk of the GPUs we have available. Fortnite would probably be able to support it, but at what cost? Something to keep in mind, maybe in a decade or two we'll have that capability. I believe your second point on bringing assets to different games (a one time computation) would be much more feasible with AI
No. Look at mosaic. We don’t need 12,288 dimensional vectors in the embedding space of an LLM running AI NPCs. Look at the generative Agent Stanford paper. OpenAI is trying to create a Helpful Assistant. But because RLHF needs to train a very nice model we get the Waluigi Effect. And we all know GPT4 is Shoggoth. In a year models will be ran locally and some will be trained specifically to inhabit the NPCs of a game.
