I did not know you bought that Tool album. Jim had showed it to me but I am not a Tool fan so I passed. That is great that you got it Chance. Nice pick ups. I visited Radio Wasteland earlier this month and he mentioned that he sold the Tool record. Glad it ended up in your collection. Jim is one of the best in the VC.

When it comes to the phenomenon of the amount of fun that’s had in finding something in the wild that’s truly truly on your want list, the list you’ve been meaning to make good on via eBay or Discogs bit low and behold you end up paying thrift store and yard sale prices for it and you’re just over the moon, I find those all the time!! Granted I collect more than just vinyl. Great example of a recent find, Goodburger on VHS the orange tape with an undamaged slip case, was meaning to buy it for 40$ and found it during a daily thrift store check for 1$

Although I say that and I see a few 2010-ish albums I have OG's of were just re-issued and the value of mine are in the crapper. Did you end up getting the MB20 box set from a few years ago? With the black & white covers?
Great buys there Chance. Was a wise choice to go for the O&O. Very jealous of the Scott-Heron. Annoyingly a local shop has just got a lovely soul/funk collection in and 99% is OG but the copy of Revolution is the Best Buy late 70s press...pah! I can't believe how much Beatles Naked has gone up. A market stall had the OG with the 45 for around £30 about 3 years ago. It was below Discogs median at the time but not far off it hence I didn't even buy it...sucker move in hindsight! All the best to you and the family and may 2025 deliver more heat than ever. I picked up the Japanese press years ago with the intent to "move it to the next guy", but years later still have it. Might be time to "share" it with others in 2025. Excellent quality finds! 2024 was a great year for me too. Mostly concerts experiences. I have never tried early bird at a record show. I think I am too cheap. 🐥

I had no idea that Let It Be...Naked was worth that much! Nice! I remember it in your stack of stuff that day. In 2024, I bucked up for two Robert Pollard (Guided By Voices singer/writer) solo albums (1) Off To Business and (2) Normal Happiness. I found an 80's reissue of Pet Sounds at a show, which was exciting because anything older is either really expensive or beat up bad.

WOW! That Beatles LIB naked.. Damn lucky, absolutely Incredible score dude! Almost got one a couple times, but it escaped me this year. Next year, it's on... I _will_ land a copy! 😬 I recommend the UK - Time of the Zombies comp from '73.. It sounds a lot better than the US pressings, imho. I've way too many to list here, but not a bad year.. I crossed quite a few off of my want list.. Can't really complain. 👍 Here's to '25 🍻

Ain’t it nuts to actually own certain records you’ve only seen a picture of or in real life, but only once, and it happened to have been years ago, but years ago, $50 was an absolutely outrageous amount for a single record, and you’ll just grab it, “next time”, etc., etc. 😂 When you least expect it, a single ray of light peeks through the clouds illuminating a super clean copy which popped up for a crazy low price. Them’s the rules, brother.

In the world of record accumulation, most of us are over here playing checkers while you're out there playing three-dimensional chess 🤣🤣🤣 Seriously, you keep swinging for the fences and reaching the upper deck. That's a great, great haul for the year. Wow. Some of my biggest clean OG pickups this year: the Sub Pop 200 comp box, s/t’s by Modern Lovers and Suicide, Type O Negative - Bloody Kisses as well as Slow, Deep And Hard, The Breeders - Last Splash, The Pharcyde - Bizarre Ride II and Ween - Chocolate and Cheese. Except for the box set, these were to replace reissues. I also got a fair amount of under-the-radar-for-the-VC originals that, while not super expensive, were dwindling in numbers in the open market, IE records from the Louisville math-rock scene of the late 80's/early 90s. Stuff like that. While my collection is a fraction of the size of Mr. Hall Of Fame's, I share the same philosophy as Brandon in that what I buy is generally paid for by what I get rid of. I don't think I've ever spent north of 4 bills for a record. I'll splash out to a degree but it's gotta be something I will spin a lot. It can't be a trophy that just sits on a shelf. North of $400 and my mind shifts toward international travel instead; I hit London this year and Belgium and The Netherlands the year before. We're all different animals, but I dig crossing the pond. Have a great 2025! I don't think I've ever missed an A-side pod; I'm there live on YT when I can be but always at least listen via my podcast app. I'll always take a peek at the B-side and sometimes I listen, sometimes I'll pass especially if it seems like slabbing will be a topic 😜. It was much easier years ago (for me) and I generally had fun finding the records and moving them on to help subsidize even bigger records. The Tool/Aenima shown here was the reason I instantly sold my Rhino/Doors box. Always appreciate the support Tom, be it on my turn at the controls or the B-side. @@ConcertBuddie Two very different approaches, but good stuff can be found from Preserving. Mike is extremely curated and tends to have rare, to one of a kind stuff. Especially in more obscure genres. Preserving is a brick and mortar in an old church and they have been buying up collections and have expanded enough to get another store front. They sort of specialize in Metal etc., but they do get some good stuff in other areas. A few weeks ago I discovered a record I wanted, then found they were the only ones with a copy in the US, so I stopped by and grabbed it. Preserving is legit.
Great finds and I never see Odyssey and Oracle out in the wild. That's a gorgeous copy. Happy New Year.

@@highrantdistrict just from that list you shared here you did pretty damn good yourself in 2024 sir! Much of my early collection was assembled with that Brandon approach too. It was much easier years ago (for me) and I generally had fun finding the records and moving them on to help subsidize even bigger records. The Tool/Aenima shown here was the reason I instantly sold my Rhino/Doors box.

Counting Crows "This Desert Life" reminds me of Jenny Smith, 8th grade dance. I'm closing the deal...slowly but surely. Here comes Scott Wyman who casually throws in a few charming words to Jenny. Next thing I know, she's over there making out with him and I'm left in the corner second guessing if wearing a Jose Canseco jersey to the dance was the best choice. @@ConcertBuddie Two very different approaches, but good stuff can be found from Preserving. Mike is extremely curated and tends to have rare, to one of a kind stuff. Especially in more obscure genres. Preserving is a brick and mortar in an old church and they have been buying up collections and have expanded enough to get another store front. They sort of specialize in Metal etc., but they do get some good stuff in other areas. A few weeks ago I discovered a record I wanted, then found they were the only ones with a copy in the US, so I stopped by and grabbed it. Preserving is legit.
