      Which lens would you recommend for pilots? I'm a helicopter pilot and am looking to get prescription Oakley Turbines but can't decide which lens would be best. I need good contrast to cut through haze and be able to differentiate clouds etc. I would also prefer a lens that is externally blue or similar for esthetics.

    The prizm lenses are really amazing with great contrast and vivid colour rendition. One main drawback however, which I think you should have mentioned, is about inner lens reflection. You can notice your eyes or cheeks on the inner side of the lens and in some light conditions it's so bad that you would think the lenses are blurred with dirt.

    Hey! I will post this question also in the video about Prizm lenses for everyday, just to cover the bases: I live in an environment that is snowy at least 6 months of the year, with about 2 or 3 of those months getting very bright, whether sunny or cloudy (cloudy days are sometimes the most blinding, with bright white everywhere). Then summer it is totally green and we have 24 hours of light :) I engage in all outdoor sports -- skiing, hiking, biking, rivers, lakes, forest and mountain, etc. So I am trying to choose an ideal lens (or two) for each season -- One sport frame each, one lifestyle frame each. So up to 4 pairs of sunglasses. So far I have tried the Road Jade, Black, Ruby, and Sapphire (Grey and Road are in the mail). I loved the contrast of the Road Jade in mixed conditions, but not the rose base (especially on sunny days). I loved the darkness of the Black on the sunniest days. I found that the Ruby do not work in such a green environment in summer here! While bronze base might provide highest contrast, I simply could not distinguish as well among all the green trees and plants, as bronze seems to boost the green. And the Sapphire are supposedly grey-based, but they looked too rosy to me -- I could not see as well in the Sapphire as in the Black. So... I know there is a "snow sapphire" lens and am wondering whether it's actually meant for snow conditions, and why/how? I think I tend to prefer the most "natural" look, so grey base lenses, but which one of those would give the highest contrast? I am hoping the Sutro S with Prizm Grey will be my go-to. Which lenses would you recommend to me for the 2 main "seasons" in my environment and activities? Thanks for your time!!

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  Год назад

      Hello Valkoshka! We can tell you've done some homework! Based on your preferences I think you're right on point with the Prizm Road Black, especially if neutral tones in your field of view are what you're after. Snow Sapphire has the same VLT as the everyday version but with more rose in the dye to accentuate the textures among snowy conditions. Most Prizm Sport lenses utilize a rose base to for contrast and color enhancement, though it sounds like the Everday options might be more to your liking. While some options lens options are not available with Sutro S frame, you may get the most benefit from the Jade and Sapphire (polarized or non-polarized) for both summer and winter environments. Hopefully this helps but if you have additional questions don't hesitate to give our certified opticians a call!

    Looking for the one with the most contrast in general, but specifically for a field (though not baseball). Mid- to late- afternoon football officiating. I often do games on fields with complete sun and some that will have shadows due to the stands/press box. My Flak Jackets with the standard gray lens work OK but I just want to bump up the "pop" and contrast. It sounds like the Field or Mountain biking ones would work the best. Comments? What do you think?

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  2 года назад +1

      Hey Jack! Because those 2 lenses are vastly different from each other and were designed for very different environments, i would suggest selecting a frame with interchangeable lenses (like the Flak 2.0 XL for example) that allows you to swap out the lenses as you see fit. However if you were to choose only 1, you may get more use out of the polarized option even though you may lack a touch of depth perception when using them for tennis.

    I just got the Prizm Road in the Sutro S for softball because they are not offered with the Prizm field lens which is weird. The rep at the Oakley store said they are very similar and basically the same, but I value your input what do you think?

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  10 месяцев назад +1

      Hello! Good question. He's correct that they are similar in that they use the same base tint (rose) however the dye recipe and mirror intensity are slightly different. The VLTs (visible light transmission) have about a 5% difference with the Prizm Field being the darker option having a vlt of 15% vs. 20% with the Road lens. In terms of contrast and performance, you're not missing much, if anything. You might actually find that you prefer the Road as it lets more light through, making it a good option for conditions with some cloud cover. Thanks for watching!

    Which Oakley lenses are going to make the colors pop the most? I bought a pair of frames because I heard great things about Deep Water Prizm Polarized and they came with brand new Deep Water lenses and a beat up pair of the original lenses which are Sapphire Prizm. I actually like the Sapphire lenses so much more because they make a lot of colors look basically like HD. The Deep Water lenses just didn't make colors stand out the same way it's more like a little above neutral look.

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  2 года назад

      Robert, this is a good question and one that we haven't covered in our content yet. However, we do have a few lens suggestions for you.
      The first thing to consider is that you'll be wanting a lens that offers high contrast. This helps improve depth perception and hone in on details at range. Another factor to consider is Variable Light Transmission (VLT). You'll want VLT to probably be around 15-20% which helps mute out bright light. You'll usually find that bronze or rose tints help achieve this.
      Taking those factors into account, our suggestions are top suggestions are PRIZM Tungston and PRIZM Jade Iridium. As a bonus, Oakley sells two shooting-specific lenses (though they are hard to find and non-Rx). These are TR-22 and TR-45.
      Hopefully this helps and good luck finding the perfect Oakley archery lenses!

      Hi Drew! PRIZM Road is not polarized. However, if you ride along or near water then a polarized lens may be suitable for you. The only reason why a polarized lens is not recommended is because it has been known to affect depth perception. Also, riding with a non-polar lens will increase your chances of spotting the glare reflecting off puddles or oil slicks on the road. Hope this helps to answer your question!

      Hey there! On the contrary, while the Prizm Field was designed with baseball and other field sports in mind, the boost in contrast and color translates to other environments as well. The Sapphire compliments the beach atmosphere as well, but you may want to avoid polarization as it can affect depth perception when playing. Notably, tracking the ball in flight.

    Does the visible light spectrum graph have a direct correlation to the VLT of each lens?

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  2 года назад

      They are related, of course! How much light is allowed through the lens dictates the VLT and how much of each color makes it through dictates how much light is making it through. If you want more yellow to make it through the lens, for instance, you will necessarily increase the VLT unless you also decrease the amount you allow another color on the spectrum to make it through. It should be calculable by looking at the graph what the VLT is, but that would take a deeper dive into a number of things.

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  Год назад +1

      Hello! Due to the amount of brightness experienced at high elevation and reflection coming off the snow, a mirrored lens with a low VLT will provide the best contrast, protection, and comfort on the mountain. The Prizm Black Polarized has the lowest VLT among the Sport Collection of lenses and classifies as a Category 3 lens with an 11%VLT, making it a great option for snow. However, Oakley also makes Prizm snow-specific lenses that pair with their Clifden frame that include the Prizm Snow Sapphire and PRIZM Snow Black.
