SportRx Oakley prizm black polarized.
SportRx would getting polarized prizm lenses for fishing and just everyday driving use?
@@joshuautley8415 That's what currently on my Jawbreakers
My favorite pair is the pair I didn't buy. It allowed me more money in my wallet for beers.
@AG Coarseman bro, what kind of Oakley shades do you recommend for driving? Thanks in advance.
Your commitment to making relevant Oakley (and other brands) videos is appreciated. Your time has made me so much more informed about my purchases.
That is EXACTLY what we are aiming for! Thanks so much for the appreciation and for tuning in!!
Awesome video. I wear prizm p holbooks when I'm fishing or out on my kayak, and they work great to get rid of that glare and prevent the migraines I'm so used to getting when out on the water for hours on end. However I never realized why it'd be good to have non-polaroized glasses on hand for some of my other hobbies. So I appreciate the info, thanks guys keep up the informative content
If I didn’t own a pair of Oakley prizms I would be sceptical that they are as good as the thumbnail picture but they do genuinely make all the colours deeper and richer while significantly reducing the suns glare. I think there brilliant
very helpful info. Thank you! i have 2 pair oakley. i bought for my wife a pair and she said WOW my eyes are so relaxed now. awesome!! she had other brands from clothing fashion but when she put Oakley she saw and feel the difference instantly. I did not expect. i just saw videos on youtube about Oakley factory and technology so i believed it should be good.
Glad we could help! You're right, the difference between their lens and other fashion brands is immediately perceivable.
I’m so happy to see you’re still answering questions on this video.
For a week or so I have been tossing up between Oakley Latch Prizm Black Iridium and Prizm Black Iridium Polarized.
I live in Australia and the sunnies will be for general day to day use such as driving and walking in mostly sunny or overcast weather. I will also be playing golf casually but nothing competitive.
To me, the only time I feel like I would say “wow” with Prizm Polarized is near the water (and maybe clouds?). I will be travelling to Europe which will involve tours near water but I am not a fisherman nor spend much time on the water generally.
So what would you recommend out of these two? I’ve seen varied suggestions when driving as it reduces glare but may not show oil spills etc.
I feel as though there is a stigma that if you don’t have polarised sunglasses then your glasses aren’t great. So I am wondering if I would be disadvantaged in anyway other than glare reduction if I opt for Prizm Iridium Black Oakley Latch over the Polarized counterpart?
Thankyou!!
Hey there! Considering the fact that you're not near or operating on water coupled with golf play, I think the non-polarized option will better suit you as your everyday drivers. Polarization can affect depth perception and the ability to accurately track the ball in flight and may make it difficult to read digital screen displays. The obvious benefit, as you mentioned, has to do with glare reduction, but since you wouldn't regularly experience the benefits of such, the non-polar is the better choice. Hope this helps and thanks so much for watching!
I've always used polarized lenses for all situations and never had a problem. Wouldn't trade them for anything now.
Polarized lenses really bug me when I use my phone. I go to take a picture and the screen looks black.
Im the exact same way! I went deep sea fishing for the first time last year and i got the deep water prizm polarized fuel cell just for this trip and i was blown away how well they worked compared to friends shades. I only use polarized

Agreed. No depth perception problems.

with polarized lenses I could have nasty surprise
Awesome video guys. I just purchased a pair of non-polarized PRIZM lenses and found they were too bright for driving as my eyes are sensitive to light. I've been using Polarized lenses for twenty years now and it reduces strain on my eyes. Going to buy some replacement Polarized PRIZM lenses for my Flack 1.0 and see how it works. Once again, great video!
I used to work at the Oakley headquarters, foothill ranch more than 20 years ago, that was my first job. I miss those days and and I miss California.
The Oakley compound is a site to behold!
Proper lens technology is very important. I have an astigmatism and strabismus. It’s a pain. I have prescription glasses but after a while, they just make my eyes tired. It’s surprising how much relief I get just by the filtering and clarification added by these lens types.
Very informative video, never paid much attention to the difference before
Great description about prizm and prizm polarized! Never have I thought that polarization would be bad on ski goggles. Now it makes alot more sense!
Hi Antti! Thanks for the love! Glad we could help you out.
Just got a set…going get more (my husband loves them). These are incredibly comfortable, I forget I have them on. I have Prizm & polarized. I live in Florida…sun everywhere, On the water daily, etc. Thanks, Oakley. Good job 👏🏼

I’ve got prizm polarized and I’m on my second set of lenses where the inside coating is bubbling and peeling away. If polarization is built into the lens, is it the prizm technology that is laminated onto the lens?
Hey Rob. What model of glasses are you wearing in this video? Thanks!
What do you recommend for working in the mountains full sun for 10 to 8 hrs a day and also driving and checking waves in the morning. I just got LASiK and wanna take care of my eyes. Im about to custumize some oakleys. Thanks

I'm thinking of getting a pair of Oakley Holbrook M Black W/ Prism Ruby Iridium. Are these polarized and would they be great against glare, please let me know, thank you.
Hey so I am wanting to get 1 pair to use for both baseball and fishing. Would it be better to get prism or polarized or both.
Very cool information. Definitely learned a lot from this.
Great to hear! Thanks for checking it out!
Love the Oakley prizm experience, they “brighten” my day
Will prizm polarised lenses ever start to peel? I had that problem with my iridium polarized ones a while back.
As a courier I'm driving a lot of miles everyday in all kinds of weather jumping in and out of my van, should I get polarized PRIZM lenses or one or the other? Thanks, guys.
Got the split shot in prizm shallow H20 polarized. Awesome pair of glasses.

Hi I work at reclaimation land which is basically just all the way sand & super bright sun. Which type of PRISM lens would you recommend & do they need to be polarized?
Hi Alvin! PRIZM Black Polarized will offer the most protection from the sun. The polarized filter cuts glare and the grey minimizes the amount of light coming though the lens. You can check out all of the PRIZM Everyday lenses here to see how PRIZM Black stacks up against the rest: www.sportrx.com/blog/oakley-prizm-everyday-lens-technology/
I bought some prizm grey polarised lens glasses, I’ve worn different Oakley lens for a long time including prizm sport which I use for running and cycling. I went walking in the polarised grey and I kid you not, these ones had me literally seeing stars and it was really difficult to see - I had to keep closing one eye to stop myself feeling dizzy.
What do you recommend for truck driver’s? I spend half my day looking out a windshield.
Hi Joe! You are on the right track with a polarized lens. PRIZM Black, Sapphire, or Jade offer the most protection because they have a grey base and will block out the most light. That is what we recommend if you want optimal protection. You can check out the other PRIZM Everyday lenses here: www.sportrx.com/blog/oakley-prizm-everyday-lens-technology/ and shop Oakley sunglasses here: www.sportrx.com/brand/oakley.html
I have used one pare of Radar EV prizm polarized for 7 years now and its absolutely stunning love it
unfortunetly i ruined it just few days ago by leaving it wet after cleaning with chemically not clean water (tap water in Georgia ) so coating got "eaten" off on same places, have to replace lenze, one cool feature is that you actualy can only buy replacement parts such as lens itself and all rubber parts that gets soft time to time. so thank you Oakley for providing cut edge technologies for everyday use keep going!
I scratched up my old Oakley shades, does Oakley provide replacement lenses ?
I do hard MTB double Black diamonds in windrock Tennessee. I wear polirized prizm lenses and I love them ...i can't ride without them and I don't see the problem with polirized. On the contrary I feel i can see further with the lenses specially during his summer day
Learned a good bit from this vid! Well done and very useful! Oakley lenses are amazing!
Hi Andrew! That is great to hear-thanks for tuning in!
@SportRx you guys are absolutely correct!! 20+ years I was among the last gen of lab workers at a Luxottic store where we still carefully handmade lenses from raw blanks on massive 50’s equipment, so I learned heaps!!
Most polarized lenses are made so sloppy it’s disgusting. Oakley actually does take care to make their polarization precise & be of benefit to the wearer. Half the companies out there just throw it on as an afterthought and it actually does nothing beneficial.
Thank you for your time in the eyewear field! We really appreciate your expertise and feedback :)

Hi there! If you want a PRIZM polarized lens that will have you covered in both bright and cloudy conditions then check out PRIZM Sapphire or PRIZM Jade. It really depends on what environment you will be using them in thought. If you will be on or near water you may want to check out PRIZM Deep Water Polarized too! Have you done comparative tests between polarized and non-polarized lenses to determine the magnification differences between the two types? And have you tested nonpolarized lenses to determine that they have no magnification that would affect depth perception? I realized recently that my sunglasses, which are polarized, were creating a depth perception issue that hinders my ability to improve in my sport, so now I'm looking for a solution. I happen to love wearing "rose-tinted" glasses because they just make everything better most of the time.
Hi Carl! We have not conducted any internal tests here at SportRx although we have heard that polarized lenses can affect depth perception in some individuals. Thanks for sharing your findings with us. If you would like to chat further we are here for you: www.sportrx.com/contact
What lens do you recommend for trap and sporting clays? I live in Arizona. Thanks
Try a high contrast lens - something like the golf or MTB specific prizm tints.
They might make a shooting specific prizm lens - maybe something that makes that high viz orange that your clays are painted really pop.
For sports in the sand (beach volleyball, beach soccer and beach tennis), is it better to use prizm polarized then?
Greetings from Costa Rica
I wanted to know if there are glasses
original prizm p that do not have the prizm p engraved on the lens
hey there, i’m looking into buying a pair of radar ev path sunglasses. i’m a skateboarder and find myself getting tired of squinting all of the time and could benefit from some enhanced depth perception. what would you recommend for me? would regular unpolarized prizm glasses help keep me from squinting so much? thanks in advance
i am currently most interested in your prizm road black lenses, is this a good choice?

curious is it possible to get a prizm polarized lens with a prescription lens? because I've been wanting to get some oakley prescription sunglasses?
live out in California so as you know a lot of sunlight, so usually its sun shine in my eyes or off reflective surfaces on my daily commute, I've used Blue lenses but get bugged because the contrast , meanwhile i dig the red lens because it protects my eyes but doesn't give me a feeling like my depth perception or contrast isn't off is this right?

Is there an oakley lens that would be safe to utilize while driving at night? I have a major issue with how bright headlights are on current cars but the risk of not being able to see I the complete darkness is not worth it. Would polarized lenses work for this as they reduce glare? Thought about golf lenses at one point too but do not want to spend the money if it will not work.
Hi there! Are you looking for prescription glasses? We can build custom lenses that are specifically designed for driving at night. Which Oakley lenses are good for bright sunny days?
Incredibly informative video. Thanks.
Thanks for tuning in, Tom!
Thank you so much for the video! But I have have to ask you, for paragliding, do you think it's better polarized or not? Because of the clouds, sometimes I paraglide on the sea shore, but you caught on depth perception.
I really hope you can answer and all the best !
That is a great question! For areas surrounding water on sunnier days, polarization is a must! But when the clouds roll in, you may find a benefit with non-polarized lenses with a higher VLT. Check out San Diego's own #paraglidingpixie aka Milly, who we had a chance to make a pair of paragliding glasses for. And can attest to the benefits of prescription polarized lenses for use along the coast! And thanks for watching!

Would you recommend Polarized or Non-Polarized Lenses for Rowing? I thought about Prism Polarized Deep Water. Or should i just go with Prism Lenses? I also want to use them for Running and Biking. Thanks a lot! :)
Hi Lisa! Generally speaking you want a polaized lens for anything water related and non polarized for biking but many people prefer one over the other for multiple activities. If you had to choose 1 for all purposes though i'd shift toward polarized.
How do you tell if the lenses are prizm polarized? Is it the label “prizm p”?
Very helpful, thanks guys!
Love my Oakley Salias with the blue sapphire prizm lenses
I’ve been wearing Prizm lenses for a couple years but i needed to replace the lenses bad. I just got Prizm polarized sapphire lenses for my Sliver Stealths and I definitely notice the difference. After this video I’m thinking I need none polarized Prizm lenses for my work shades. I’m landscaping and realizing there isn’t much glare. Now i gotta figure out which Prizm lens would be best for mowing lawns and being able to see my lines better 🤷🏻

You may want to add that polarized lenses are for example in cockpits and in most modern cars dangerous to wear as you cannot see information depicted on the displays. In fact - some aircraft manufactures as for the AW139 stipulates "Polarized lenses prohibited" ...just FYI

Hey there! Go Polarized PRIZM all the way if you're going to be working around water 😎
I’m want to get a pair of Oakleys prism polarized for fishing to cut the glare off the water and see fish but I also want to use them for playing baseball. I play infield but the big thing is seeing fly balls and not losing them in the sun. Would prism polarized be good to do both and would it mess up the way I see and judge the ball when I’m fielding it. If they are fine for that what is a good suggestion for lense color. Thanks.
Hi there! Great question! Polarized lenses have been known to slightly affect depth perception which is why we do not normally recommend them for sport. However, there are half rim frames such as the Flak 2.0 XL that allow you to swap lenses on the fly. Getting two separate sets of lenses may be your best bet! You can always contact one of our certified opticians for more guidance and information: www.sportrx.com/contact
Hi guys, I'm an airline pilot, I want to buy the turbine rotor, are they a good choice? or which model do you recommend for my work?
It is a great choice because it has a lot of wrap and coverage. Just be sure to steer clear of polarized lenses because it will make reading the instrument panel very difficult! Check it out here: www.sportrx.com/oakley-turbine.html
what i woiuld like to know is about the depth perception in polarized lenses... for drive a car for example, is it good or not?once it can make depth distortion
Hi there! We DO recommend a polarized lens for driving. Although it has been known to affect depth perception it is only slightly-enough to throw off your golf swing but not enough to affect your driving.
What about for driving, I'm looking for something that makes visibility better when driving in rain and bad weather. In this case I'm think of buy Prizm Polarized with a high % light through, I see a few lenses up to 17%. I have cheap polarized glasses but do not see any issue with depth perception. So not sure what you would recommend though.
Hi there! It sounds like you are on the right track. A higher VLT will let more light in through the lenses and would make sense on overcast or rainy days. Great video fellas. I just purchased the Oakley Halbrook Prizm 24K 100%UV. Do you believe by them not being polarized, glare would be an issue while driving or on at beaches? I like that you said Prizm makes the colors pop.
Hi there! Excellent choice! Glare will be a bit more noticeable than looking through a polarized lens but you will still have great sun protection.
I have prizm and Love them for driving.
My Radars with Prizm have been great for cycling and running. I only wish the viewing angle was a bit higher as when im in the aero position on the bike some of the top frame is visible.

Ive had both prizm and prizm p (prizm polarized). They are both great and this video is highly accurate but you also should take into consideration that prizm polarized lenses also have a noticeably darker tint than the prizms.
I’m trying to buy some Oakleys for my dad he drives the same direction back home everyday on the freeway from work, he says he wants some lens that shield his eyes well from the sun. Is the polarized option right for this? How about prizim polarized?
What a great gift for dad! Yes, the PRIZM Polarized option is the best bet for driving. Polarized lenses make the biggest difference in protecting your eyes from harmful UV rays and glare which bounces off windshields and bumpers on the road.
Rob. What frames are you wearing in this video? Very cool

great video great channel. are prizm lenses uv?
Hi there! Yes, all PRIZM lenses block 100% UVA, UVB, and UVC light along with blue light up to 400 nm. Thanks for checking us out!
What would you recommend for a pilot, I need to see my gauges inside but also seeing other aircraft and identifying land marks is very important, the sun is pretty bright when you're above the clouds.
Look up on RUclips “Captain Joe polarized glasses”
Hi Levi! We advise getting non-polarized lenses. A polarized lens will make your gauges difficult to read due to the filter that is on the lens. Now I’m worried because I play baseball and I just bought the Radar Ev black polarized prizm glasses do I need to take them back? And get only prizm or what
Not necessarily. Some people can use polarized lenses and it doesn't seem to bother them. You may find that it will work just fine for you. I would recommend testing them out just a bit if you can.
Are prizm lenses okay for pilots. If so which Oakley glasses offer the prizm lenses without polarization. I’m aware that pilots can’t use polarized glasses due to the interference it has on flight instruments. I was wondering if this same restriction applies to prizm lenses with non polarization.
Good question! No, Non-Polarized Prizm lenses do not have the same restrictions for pilots. Polarization can interfere with a pilot's ability to view and interpret instrumentation in the cockpit. Any Prizm lens with polarization will be noted in the name (i.e. Prizm Black Polarized).
All I wear are radar ev prizm lenses . Wow what a difference.. Love them
We love that you Love them Erick! Radar EVs are have been around a long time for a reason, they're awesome.
In which situations would suggest a polarised Oakley lens over a Prizm Polarized?
Hi there! Having a PRIZM lens is better than non-PRIZM no matter what activity you are using them for. You will still get all the great polarization effect with both lenses but the PRIZM lens will also give you boosted contrast which is a MAJOR benefit. All oakleys have a plutonite lens. Thats what makes them premium. Plutonite is just the name of the material they make the lenses out of. I do know their lenses are also 100%uv resistant as well as blue light to 400 nanometers. That may be the stat you were looking yo research. Hope that helped -a random internet dude-
Cadillac Walters is on it! All Oakley lenses are constructed of Plutonite. It is a high-grade polycarbonate material that blocks out 100% UVA, UVB, and UVC light and blue light up to 400 nanometers. It is also a highly impact resistant material!
