- This is my recipe for a traditiona Parsi style Mutton Dhansak but of course you can skip the mutton and make this vegetarian too.

Yummy Dhansak 😋... My late father used to make it... it was soooo yum.... One query... Can you tell me the brand name of dhansak masala powder which you used. Planning to make this yummy Dhansak😋
Mangal’s is good, but not always available. Badsha Dhansak masala also works well and easily available. Adding a level tablespoon of badshah sambhar masala also improves the taste.
Are these masalas available in Pune? This really seems to be a very doable recipe.

I have learnt this from my mother in law n it really is yummy. I grind fresh coriander n green chillies with the dhan sak masala n that's also yummy. I make my own dhansak masala
Which brand of dhansak masala would you recommend??
I ate in my dearest friend Nehru's house Dhansak motton version.my friend Mehru was 17 years older and the taste of Dhansak reminds me of my poor Mehru.I down loaded Dhansak recipe today and I will give comment whether it came out the same as I remember.

Can you suggest which brand of Dhanshak masala you use. We are vegetarian, but no problem outside Dhanshak masala we will use. ( Please recommend the best qwality of Dhanshak masala brand)

Best brand I'm not sure but I use Mangal as do most Parsi homes. Even the Ahura brand is excellent but I think between the two Mangal is best.
We called it Haleem ( Khichda)
We don't add vegetables & Tamatoes
Not the same thing.

I love adding mint leaves also in the dhansak and my brown rice I don't add sugar I caramelize the onions and then add rice and let the water get soaked in rice you get brown rice.
Sounds good ! I find I have no patience for caramalising onions and often burn them but this is a great tip. I love the addition of mint leaves.

tum haramkhor log itne saal se Gujarati jo vegiterian hote hain unke saath reh rahe phir bhi tum logo ko janwar hi khana achha lagta hain
mujhe Parsi logo se itni nafrat hain ek Parsi ne mere pitaji ka paisa duba diya hain
Main usko toh chodunga hi nhi aur Parsi nano nishan hi mita dunga

Does commercially available dhansaak masala make the dal hot and spicy?🤔🙏🏾
No it really depends on how much you add. If you don't like spice start with lesser quantity, taste and then you can always add more of the dhansak masala later to balance it out. Also most of the masala is like a garam masala so it's heaty not like chilli spicy so add little first and then see. I make less spicy dhansak all the time and it's just a question of how many spoons of the masala you add.

Mutton woth daal is ok..but mutton with pumpkin n brinjal is horrible
Try it the recipe. You can't even tell the vegetables. If you still don't enjoy it that's fare enough. Food is subjective at the end of the day.

How to make this Dhansak Masala...?
So sorry I don't know the recipe from scratch it's like a garam masala. You can buy ready made online or at any masala shop
