@@AllOutBrick hes got solid posture, doesn't need a walking stick, is taller than the matoran, and rides around on his giant bird all day. Dude took care of himself
@@Jake-yz3qv In the movie Dume is Teridax in disguise. The real Dume was Toa in the past so he managed to never skip out on "limb days" when he became a Turaga.
I don't mind the reuse of the matoran body just because the flatness of it makes him more stable in the harness and I don't think a custom build would fit as securely. The other alternative would've been to just mold a new torso piece but keep the general dimensions and I don't think that'd particularly worth the effort for Lego to have done. If there's anything I'm disappointed by, it's the fact that he doesn't have a turaga staff. That would've been enough to set him apart for me personally.
Can I just say, I absolutely love what you're doing! When I was a kid, I adored Bionicle. It was the only toyline that interested me as a kid with it's fun building process, rich story and lore (especially for it's time), and awesome characters. For some reason, out of all the Bionicle sets, the Metru Nui ones stand out to me. With the corrupt police force that was the Vahki, the fearsome Dark Hunters and the new heroic Toa. It all felt so new! Seeing you unpack these sets reminds me of when I was kid building them and how happy I was posing them on my shelves. I know I may sound like a major nerd right now, but really, watching these videos, fills me with memories of when I was a kid and I love every bit of it! Thanks you so much!
Toa must prove themselves with deeds not simple gifts. Matoran of metru nui, the great spirit has provided us with six new toa who will undoubtedly demonstrate their worthiness on this field of honor.
@WILLIAM WEST had a bunch as a kid! The toa nuva, bohrak-kal, the titan sets of the metru nui phase, life was good, I need to look around to show my kids!
This was my second ever Titan set, although I didn't get it until two years after its release. I distinctly remember seeing this on top of a scanner in the classroom when I was in second grade, and thought it was very cool. This set happens to be the final standard set, aside from its Combiner "Set" and a Parts "Tub" (6620) from 2006 to have the Bohrok limbs in Mata red, and the final standard set to have the "Launchplate" pieces from the "Roboriders" theme from four years prior. At the same time, this set marks the first of fourteen sets to contain the Rahkshi legs in black and is the only Bionicle set to contain the Technic "Boot" in black-which had been featured in the Hockey constraction figures from the "Sports" theme the year before. Some of the other Technic elements and the Gali Hook in silver that are in this set are also fairly rare, with this being one of only two standard sets to contain a 13M beam in that color. This is also the only other standard Bionicle set to contain the Staffs of Confusion from Vahki Keerahk (White) and is the debut of the Onua Claw in silver. In addition, this set marks the final standard appearance of the Mata/Voodoo eyepiece.
You got quality bro, really cool setup and room probably the best I've seen out of all the lego reviewers. Your gonna be huge in the near future in the lego review scene for sure
I've always felt weird about this set. It's pieces are awesome, specially with Dume's mask, but I never quite liked it. That being said, awesome review!
I always wish it looked more like he did in the movie, and I also wish the Teridax combination looked more like he did in the movie. At least in the combo model it becomes clear it’s also got Krekka Nidhiki's bodies in his form. But it doesn’t look much like the movie OR the first Makuta set.
RIP Nivawk, he was a good rahi. Gone but not forgoten. Oh and he looks so much better in the move, was so disapoined when i saw how i looks in set form. Hope you soul found bird haven when the shadows lifted.
One of my all time favorite sets. I used to have a shelf over my bed and I would have this set hanging by its claws like a bat off the edge of the shelf. Btw, Turaga Dume is pronounced Doom-Uh. Excellent video as always Christian! ❤❤
As a kid I used to think Nivawk was some kind of crazy dinosaur with huge blades for arms. Then I saw Legends of Metru Nui and was so disappointed to see that it was a bird with bat wings and pigeon sound effects. lol
I think youtube ate my comment so I have to post it again, so sorry if this is a double comment if it resurfaces The flex tubes on your Nivawk seem to be making the function a lot worse; they're bending at the connection point instead of the tubes arcing out when you fold up the wings. On mine, the function has a very satisfying snap to it which makes it quite fun, and in addition the wings fold further in making that position look way better and something you may actually want the model to be in. Mine came used, with the tubes having settled into place so that could be helping. I'd say experiment with swapping for the front tubes or Nidhiki's to see if any of those work like I say they can, as that elevates the set a little more.
They definitely felt off for me, but I suspect the parts not being fully molded into place yet cause it to be a bigger problem. I'd love to see this working properly, would definitely boost up the score a few decimals.
@@TheRedname Nah, it’s consistent with the phonology and orthography of Matoran, as well as the Polynesian inspirations for a lot of the sounds and words of the language.
For Nivawks head there is one piece I’m missing that I can’t find anywhere on bricklink. It’s the part where you connect the eyes to and I was wondering if the instructions say what part number it is. It’s the big black piece on the top of its head.
It almost feels like Dume himself wasn't actually designed to be a Turaga and the story team retroactively turned him into a Turaga since the sets are designed way in advance.
The Turaga sets for Metru-nui is funny to me. You got Dume with a metru matoran body. And then a year later you got Gold good guy who is Turaga Lekhan that is the ice Voya-nui build.
While im also salty that they didn't give him a cool toraga design, i do like the theory that he's just ripped beneath his mantle, like armstorng or something
I've recently built Ultimate Dume for the first time. If your krekka joints are too loose I would suggest replacing them. With regular stiff joints it stands fine, but without it... you're gonna have a bad time
The coloring of the mask looks very good. but the mask's shape feels very incorrect. If they were going to re-use a mold, it would have been better to reuse the Turaga Vakama mold. Dume and Vakama have very similar mask shapes. I had similar feelings seeing the Takua set. I get that there was precedent for him having that mask, but the movie mask was much much better, and I wish the model that came out in association with the movie had the mask at least swapped to one that was a closer match.
I wonder when the Dume turaga was designed? Mainly about his mask if he was made before the movie design it would be alright but if it was after the movie design was made wouldn’t the turaga vkama mask be more accurate? His normal mask looks good with the meld I think the other mask would be more movie accurate for the parts lego had at the time
Your wing flex tubes definitely are too stiff. It's supposed to fold all the way in, giving it a vulture-like look. I had the same problem with mine. Fortunately they are common on Bricklink.
Nivawk looked strange when i 1st saw it when it was new in stores but now i see he's/she's a GIANT magpie (build not movie) with a seat like a roo's pouch. still...90$(ish) AUS for new is expensive...and about 30$ more than when they were first in stores(seems i should have tried getting it back then). looking at the set rollout by date...in a fortnight we might need a arachnophobia warning even if a goofy one(four legs and one torso segment)if you go the swarm first
I forgot that the sets are called but it’s like bionicle more Lego like , like Lego sets with mini bionicle I remember when I was little I saw a huge set and looked cool idk if you are gonna review those sets in the future
The play sets? Those were released in 2005 and went on for 2007. They were pretty cool and had some nice recolours like the gold kraahkan and the gold mata heads
Ehhhhh, maybe. I haven't fully decided yet, but we won't run into those on Mata Nui Monday for a little while longer so I still have some time to come to a decision. If not, potentially at the end of the theme I would come back to it though

Dume is indeed awful minus the Huna mask's design. I wish Nivawk in the movie and the set looked more alike. Here he’s more of a bat than a bird, in the movie he just acts and kinda looks too like Laserbeak.
My interpretation of Dume's build is that he's supposed to represent a super ripped old guy
