That small inclusion of Technic connectors, balljoints, and sockets really gives the set a more Bionicle look, which makes sense cause all constraction sets stem from Technic build system modified for buildable characters (as oppose to vehicles).
I really wish technic’d branch out to more than normal or racing vehicles and the odd construction one. Massive mechs or something of the sort would be cool to see out of the somewhat restricted theme.

Is there any way you could make a parts list for this moc? I don't want to spend hours trying to search up all the piece numbers
Do you have a list of the parts you use to build Tahu.
I thought Lego did a pretty good job, but this is even cooler. It really looks like Tahu in the body shape now
The head is a definite upgrade. I'm really surprised how they managed to completely misintepret the proportions.
@@magnuskallas They didn't misinterpret it. They kept the piece count as low as possible while also looking good so they could actually release it at all and for a price that more fans would be able to afford.
Personally I think the added bits to the head make it looks a bit strange, like he's wearing a helmet over his mask. It is a cool idea though.
Dude lego did a horrible Job with this reboot, its awful in every aspect, this MOD is really nice but nothing compare to the original
@@randomizedcharacter1442 the only thing I don't like are the printed tiles for masks, but it would be too expensive to design two new molds for one set that was being given as a gwp.
Lego destroys old molds, and the old joints are almost completely retired anyways, so they can only approximate the design so much and stay in budget.
Personally I'm just happy to see a real Bionicle again
@@randomizedcharacter1442 Thing is, it's not a reboot. It's the best the people who wanted to make it could convince Lego to put out. For the best price and piece count they could haggle.
Not a reboot, there might not ever be any more. It's a commemorative set.
And sure the originals are our favourites because we grew up with them, but let's not pretend they're perfect.
You really have to make more bioncle Mocs in this style.
I miss the classic Lego themes from the early 2000’s. They were just so unique and had story. Now all we get is batcaves and police stations. Back then we got power miners, space police, agents, bionicles, etc. glad they are starting to bring back some of there better ideas in some sort of way.
Lego still has original stuff too, a lot of it has just gotten subsumed into Ninjago
Don't forget castle with dwarves.
Thanks Hachiroku. The model looks more like classic Lego Bionicle than the original set itself.
Still glad they did a gwp
The original set looks like the one form the mask of light movie
This is probably closer to what the wanted to do, but it would probably crank the GWP up to $200-ish dollars.
Wut
The missing link between system and technic versions
Looks great, I especially love how the piece on top of his head has a semblance of the vent present on the OG's mask!
I like the look of Lego’s recreation better, but yours is definitely more accurate, and it looks amazing!
Also, I love how you mostly used currently-available parts.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO i love bionicoles
Leave it to Lego fans to take something already good and make it so much better. That’s friken awesome
Very interesting take! I love alot of these building techniques that you used. I always thought in my head that the technic pieces could've worked better than the system built segments, but now I actually prefer the official system a bit more. Really nice work tho!
As much as I love the big chunky MegaMan-ness of the official set and the passion of the designers behind it to make it a reality, I genuinely love your take a lot as well. It's such a nice blending of the best of both worlds and I love how you translated the textured style of early Bionicle into bricks.
ALso Googly Eyes Tahu still reigns supreme no matter what. That's just scientific fact.
It is much closer to what classic Bionicle look is. Really good job! Sometimes I wonder why Lego doesn't get opinions from creators like you before finalising their product. Especially in this case of Bionicle in 2023.
There is a lot of consideration that needed to be made, truth be told, the people who worked GWP set are fans too but have to fallow guidelines on what they are allowed to be used in a GWP Set, not to mention if it will bring the price point up or not.
This DOES look better, and you added 2 points of articulation with the ankle joints. HOWEVER, you also lost 5 points of articulation (I count the shoulders on both sides being only half usable being 0.5 each), while although yes it's more accurate to the real original Toa Models, the knees and elbows are still very nice to have. It is unfortunate, however, that the reason Mixel joints HAVE to stay light gray and dark gray is because of plastic wear quality.
Now this takes me back...gosh I miss Bionicles...bring them back Lego!
Yoooo that's awesome
Thank you so much I've been fan for a while to be honest your the reason I got into lego
This man really is gifted!
sacrifices quite a bit of poseability compared to the base set
YES! I think that this gift set should have been just that, but maybe a little redone, because the feet show uncovered sticks, the hands look small and thin, the left ankle is too big, and the fire sword is too small for him (but this is already a lego problem, because they still haven't made a part of the fire bigger than this). It's cool that you added sockets and more tech parts, and now it doesn't look like a pathetic mixel, but more like a new Bionicle)
It’s more accurate to classic Tahu, but it no longer has bendable knees and elbows as a result
This is what it should have looked like!! Brilliant!!
you'd think lego would give more tribute to the franchise that arguably single handedly saved them from bankruptcy
Cool
This is exactly what I wanted from Lego. Now G3 (if it ever happens) has a proper foundation to build upon…
This looks absolutely amazing! Major kudos!
Fantastic work as always, keep it up!
Well now you gotta make the other toa 😅
Would love to see a Tahu Nuva done in this style
This is definitely an improvement, good job👌
Pretty nice 🥰
with a small modification this tahu build can have knees and elbows. i would also use a 3 pin instead of a 2 pin for the thigh to balljoint connection(room for decoration and slightly longer legs)
Very cool! Might have to add these mods for myself. Thanks for sharing.
Hello 👋
1
hey, this looks great!
and you finally put that printed piece to good use!
Damn, you outdid yourself with this one it literally looks so much better!
Don't upgrade him, he's already the perfect boi.
dude! mad respects! need more videos like this!
DANG I love this
I would love to see more of the bionical charcters keep up the good work
your a legendary builder
this is nice, but the original is better, all it needs is ankle joints and sturdier arms.
You fixed it. Thank you!
I know you probably don’t intend to make any of the other toa, but if you do consider it, make pohatu, my favorite
You definitely captured the bionicle style better than lego, but what about the elbow/knee articulation, and the translucent eyestalk element for the head?
This is the remaster i was waiting for
Awesome upgrade!
10/10
Lego: I took that personally…
YES this is what we needed
This is so much more faithful! A much better recreation of the original shape produced from system bricks!
😊
This is perfect
great work
This just perfectly proves that lego can rejuvenate bionicles in a true lego system
Man that's nice! Really sad when I took out my Tahu, because all the thin parts started cracking. At least I can pose the GWP version :)
Lego: We made a brick built tahu!
Hachiroku: Hold my beer
This look so much better than what they offered, it like they figure young kids would get it and not nostalgic adults with good lego building knowledge under their belts.
This really cool 😎😎😎
Are you going to show what pieces you used to make the upgraded Tahu if so that will be great.
Tahu is destined to never have knees
It's amazing to see Bionicle make a comeback
GREAT HACHIROKU24 UPGRADE 2023 LEGO BIONICLE
Wow this looks way better.
You have no idea how many times I’ve watched this.
I appreciate the lower mobility for accuracy. Only missing a bit of gear function
A great upgrade of an already great model, though wish it had a gear function like the og but hey still a great display model
I've been thinking about doing a system-technic hybrid bionicle as a what if it came back and how it could be done so it's not just system like the gwp but also not all specialized parts like G1 ended up being, You've perfectly encaptured what I was thinking, better than what I would've come up with! I'm impressed as heck! Now to get the parts to build this myself 😂
Very cool
I dunno
Yours looks good, but the original just has something about it that makes me want it
I feel like if you used pins in the shoulders and covered up the holes in the limbs it would be perfect.
Alternatively, could you use orange ratcheted joints, retaining more of the complex look and giving more articulation?
This looks ok, but to me, this looks more like a compromise. LEGO did the best with what they had, while this to me looks more like it's taking more of an accuracy over function scenario. It is more accurate to Tahu, but in ways, you sacrificed things like the articulation in the limbs for knee and elbow movements. It's a cool design, but this feels like a case by case scenario.
ist a super moc i also want the return of bionicle
Think the hand was a little too big, but I like what you were going for. Nice work!
Honestly removing some of the mobility and adding detail makes it feel way more like an actual homage
Dude those feet are insane, I love it
i wish this guy had a parts list for this because i want to build it
Cool update 👍🏻😊
I wished that they had made a new mask instead of that sloped piece 🤔😊
It would have been cool, sadly GWP set are not allowed to make new molds. The printed pieces almost didn't make it into the final product.
Much better than beta
they don't want it to look as good as yours, they might have to bring the line back
Tbh I prefer the original set more, it has more articulation. Although your version has a more bionicle look
Niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Perfect! time to modify a 3d model of the hau to fit on this body and g3 is ready to go!
Now this is faithfull to the original!!
I need this set
I didn't have Bionicle growing up so I can't look at the 3rd figure and not think about the one in Pantsahat's videos.
Who are you and why aren't you in the Lego team?! This is amazing!
I already bought one, I need two more. One is built as is, one is for custom, and one sealed in box.
wow! This is so much better than the GWP! And it looks like you used all current parts?
Just goes to show what can be done with the right skills and care. Well done!
The whole point of the GWP was to keep the cost as low as possible so more fans can get it. Hence the piece count. Hachiroku basically doubled it.
@@xGhostCat I disagree on both points. One, the Blacktron GWP had 137 more parts than the Bionicle one, so they could have easily made it just like this one and kept it in budget.
Two, If Lego cared about reaching the most fans with these sets they'd sell them for $40 - $45 as retail sets, not lock them behind $100 - $250 pay walls.
@@TheBrickStop This is literally from interviews with the designers.
They showed off the other prototypes. The Takanuva they designed and showed would have been the same GWP threshold as the Blacktron Cruiser.
@@xGhostCat This is literately from the part count on the boxes.
@@TheBrickStop and this is literally from word of mouth from designers. The small amount of parts scales up the GWP threshold fast.
As good as it looks I think I prefer the GWP version since it has a lot more possiblity, especially with the legs.
I don't like this promo's design, but yours is truly great!!
I so would want your version of tahu
I think you made everything better except for the arms, the right one is a bit too big in my opinion and the left one looks a bit small and uneven. I also think using the ball joint piece for the arms and legs minimizes the pose ability of the figure. Everything else is amazing and it really fills up the silhouette of the character.
You are great designer. And as a big fun of 1994 Spiderman and 1992 X-Men I'm going to buy bricks and build your Lizard, Kingpin, Carnage anf Venom. TLG should recruit you because their big figs sucks
You are best 👍
Please! More zombie and apocalypse builds
Kids: it's just a dumb lego toy
Men:
Bionicle fans, Rise up!
Please build a brick built lego Bionicle Takanuva please
Do you have a list of parts that you use to make this awesome Toa.
