I have DRF. I started the exercises the day after ER put temp cast. My fingers were merely sausages. I didn’t think I could move them. Wow, what a difference these excercises made in just a few days. I could do full extention and full curls right before my ORIF surgery. ORIF just improved my situation even more. I didn’t have to start from zero after ORIF. Once the nerve block wore off a litlle, I got right back to excercising. I’m day 3 post op and my fingers are moving normally. Just as good as my other hand. I excercise them 10-15 times a day. It also improves the strange frozen feeling while you’re resting. I feel so much better after these excercises.

You are so amazing and generous. I am having massive skin peeling and dryness on hand with wrist cast--advice or video on how to care for skin by cast!!!????:)

Oooh thank you for the video idea! Unfortunately I don’t have a video on this however something as simple as Vaseline on the skin and moleskin around the cast edge can help.

this is incredibly helpful. I am a professional flutist. I broke my distal radius three weeks ago but I am eager to get my fingers moving again as I have concerto performances in October. It is very heartening to do these exercises and to see how much more flexibility I have after I do them. Thank you so much for these kind and caring videos -- it's giving me both flexibility and hope.

These exercises really help me a lot throughout the day. However, I find that as soon as I wake up in the morning, I am back to ground zero - swelling, stiffness, discomfort. I start all over again with the exercises, but it doesn’t carry over from day to day. Is this normal? I’ve had my cast on for about 4 1/2 weeks.

Had ORIF just last week due to DRF. How soon can I start doing these wrist exercises? Would it be too early to do it now? There’s a lot of stiffness I can feel on my wrist. Fingers are fine except for my thumb. Would love to know some insights. Thanks.

Is there any difference in exercises based on whether or not you had surgery? I'm thinking that if we don't have the security of screws, I might have to be less aggressive?

Exercises are great! I have a question. My initial cast was too tight and created a callus @ the bottom of the thumb webbing & is quite bothersome Any suggestions on softening it or will it eventually go away on its own?

Have ever thought about isometric exercises with the fingers? That means that you push with the other hand against a finger and the finger pushes back.

Hello I have a question I hope you can answer because I have been crying and on the verge of mental breakdown. I’m 23, I think about a year ago I have noticed my fingers have started to get very crooked, my right hands ring and middle finger bend sideways and on my left, my middle and point finger bend and turn sideways like outward if that makes sense. When I use my hands to squeeze something or use strength I do notice I feel my fingers feel kind of numb or like tingling, i never felt that before.
I did used to crack my fingers so much when I was younger. I also noticed they’re looking bumpy. I want to cry because I used to paint my nails and sometimes wear rings and now I don’t want to do it even tho I used to love it. I love nail polish and can’t even enjoy it anymore it’s simple but has affecting me.. Please help me, I told my doctor but they said if my fingers don’t hurt they don’t think it’s a big deal to see a specialist but I want to know if there’s a solution or what’s wrong. :( please

Did you go to a specialist? Rheumatoid arthritis? But no pain? Hope you were able to sort it out.
