Did he got of any old English book? Perhaps, but it doesn't matter, it's just genius to drop it on this sound. Love it since the day I heard it. Around 32 years ago.
Same. It brings to mind the time I was living with severe anxiety and depression back in about 2006. Everyday was a painful struggle...life was really horrible but I didn't want to die either. So to hear a song that articulated exactly what was going through my mind at the time was very comforting and empowering. It was a cathartic experience. My life did get better by the way.
Yeah, well, this isn't the only awesome bassline by Rourke. "the Queen is Dead" is brilliant just for it's sheer "in-your-faceness". I could go on, but hey, it's New Years Eve, and I must resume drinking.
Hell yeah, a personal favorite of mine would have to be Well I Wonder, with its melodic double stops at the beginning and the awesome licks that happen afterwards, oh and also Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now, so funky
I was (and still am) a massive Smiths fan since about 1985 when I really got into them. I have listened to other bands since and no one can hold a candle to them, no one. I always come back to The Smiths. " Yes I'm older now and a clever swine but they were the only ones who ever really stood by me"
andy roukes's bass is fantastic.... he is so underrated. i remember watching this on the day it was broadcast and i haven't seen it since thx so much for posting i am so happy to see this.. morrissey looks good against the green backdrop
Everything about this is just great... The fuzzy picture quality, lighting on morrissey, johnny marr smoking a cigarette while playing his greenburst tele. would kill to be a fly on the wall during this
This is absolutely classic! They don't even look like something styled from 1984. The Smiths were just so alternative back then. Totally apart from the pack. Moz is my poetic hero, and Johnny (with his classic vintage green Tele) is my guitar hero.
"Nowhere Fast" I'd like to drop my trousers to the world I am a man of means (of slender means) each household appliance is like a new science in my town and if the day came when I felt a natural emotion I'd get such a shock I'd probably jump in the ocean and when a train goes by it's such a sad sound I'd like to drop my trousers to the Queen every sensible child will know what this means the poor and the needy are selfish and greedy on her terms and if the day came when I felt a natural emotion I'd get such a shock I'd probably jump in the ocean and when a train goes by it's such a sad sound And when I'm lying in my bed I think about life and I think about death and neither one particularly appeals to me and if the day came when I felt a natural emotion I'd get such a shock I'd probably lie in the middle of the street and die I'd lie down and die
I didn't knew this video. And it's so amazing to see Moz and Marr so young and cool... and all the early 80's stuff such as the big headphones, the recording tape, and the funniest one: Marr is smoking in the video/studio, which is an impossible thing to see today with all the smoking forbiden laws! :P
One of the best, and my favorite Smiths lyric! I just saw Morrissey at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NY, love, love, love him and still is everything and more as time goes by!
Love the "Keef" style ciggie hangin' outa Johnny's mouth! He looks the business..Moza too of coarse! But Johnny? Fucking cool as! Ace guitar slinger extraordinaire! Peace to all in cyberspace! xxx

i think nearly everyone has felt that way at one time or another. morrissey does a great job of singing complete nonsense that everyone can relate to. makes you take a second look at your own emotions--it's silly when he sings it, and it's silly when i think it, but i think it nonetheless.
Not that i'm qualified to answer this but. I think he's talking about emotion vs. rational thought process or a sense of second quessing...being in ones head instead of just letting an emotion pass without having to justify it understand it...i don't know. At least thats what it means to me when I think having a hard time having a natural emotion. an unnatural one might be one that your mind could justify rationally? I think i've had unnatural emotions....
One of my favourite lines ever in a song " i think about life and I think about death , and neither one particularly appeals to me"
RIGHT ON! That's my all time favorite line!!!
Did he got of any old English book? Perhaps, but it doesn't matter, it's just genius to drop it on this sound. Love it since the day I heard it. Around 32 years ago.

What book?
johnny marr is so cool man. he's influenced so many people with his playing/style and most don't even realize it.
give credit to morrissey, who has undoubtedly captivated more young singers and instrument players than marr has.
@@mini_mozzer I think you underestimate how influential Johnny Marr is, man literally created the blueprints for every indie guitarist since
@@tomdenton.5899 na u right but thats indirectly. moz has more people who actually look up to him

amazing comment, hope youre still out there.
marr always looks just like he plays: unique yet understated, seemingly effortless, utterly cool.
It doesn’t get anymore badass than that
"When I'm lying in my bed, I think about life and I think about death... And neither one particularly appeals to me."
ME EITHER.
Can we talk about Rourke's basslines a second
Yeah, well, this isn't the only awesome bassline by Rourke. "the Queen is Dead" is brilliant just for it's sheer "in-your-faceness". I could go on, but hey, it's New Years Eve, and I must resume drinking.
Just listen to the song "Barbarism Begins At Home" and you'll see one of the greatest baselines ever written
The song is by the Smiths by the way
Hell yeah, a personal favorite of mine would have to be Well I Wonder, with its melodic double stops at the beginning and the awesome licks that happen afterwards, oh and also Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now, so funky
thank you
God, the way the light falls on his face, his expression when he sings, so beautiful...
@@davidvasey5065 don’t care.
You can tell everything he has goes into his music. That is not the case very often with today's music.
"and when I'm lying in my bed, I think about life and I think about death and neither one particularly appeals to me" - Too real man. Too damn real.
i completely concur that every smiths track is brilliant, never made a dud record, truly remakable band
Every once in a while true originals come along. They’re definitely one of ‘em.
Johnny also holds the record for making a cigarette last the longest! 😂
Why is he so beautiful in this 😭❤
Because He is God ~Yeshusha Himashiac himself, that is why

Yeeah, I see what you did with the last line. Nice reference.
Rubber Ring is my joint favourite Smiths song....along with What Difference Does It Make?
Nowhere Fast is a close third.
andy roukes's bass is fantastic.... he is so underrated.

mister clem, I think the drummer is equally as underated and the bassist
One of the best youtube videos ever, long live Morrisey and Marr
Everything about this is just great... The fuzzy picture quality, lighting on morrissey, johnny marr smoking a cigarette while playing his greenburst tele. would kill to be a fly on the wall during this
The musicianship is simply wonderous, the deity which is johnny marr, the mellifluous voice of Morrissey, my favourite smiths record
Every smiths record is my favourite haha
One of their best......an underrated gem
80s School Teacher: There’s nothing cool about smoking just say no
Kid: You clearly haven’t seen Jonny Marr in the nowhere fast vid
Definitely one of my favorite songs by them. It's also one of my most favorite songs ever. It's simply brilliant all-around.

The Smiths, Joy Division and The Cure, in any order is all you need. Beatles too...Doors....Pink Floyd, The Killers....
Every sensible child.. alv esto si es musica.
Morrissey and marr, the best combination
¡Looos amoo! ♥:D
Proper fuckin Manchester lad that Johnny Marr. Pure class.
I would love Mozza even if his hair WAS a disfigured walnut. Maybe it would make him more approachable, because to me he's a demi-god.
Only 190k views? This should of been played at the royal wedding yesterday...would of got a lot more views😉
no one sings the word 'town' quite as well as Morrissey
que buen video esta hermoso
k buena musica x favor
very good
I agree, haha. Well, in that sense we'd have to be envious of Morrissey as well and we won't even go there.

Hells yeah. That green Tele is the bomb. If I had some bread, I would run out and find that myself. Do they even make those anymore?
