Just got our internet service back on after the hurricane that came through. Had no power or internet for a few days and this was the first video I watched once we were able to get back online. None of my cats like the sound of hurricane winds or rain...and neither do I. I don't live close to the Gulf or Atlantic Ocean, so it is rare that we are impacted by a hurricane. This is only the 2nd one in my lifetime that has caused a significant amount of damage. The last time we had this happen was September 22, 1989, when Hugo made landfall in Charleston. I live in the Western Foothills of NC, but we still had tropical force winds. We didn't have any fatalities but lots of trees and power lines down along with some property damage. We were blessed as the only thing we lost was power and internet.
I can attest to this. As an owner of 4 adult felines, each cat has a specific unique type of communication with me. I can make a certain sound from across the house and my one cat will respond from the other end while my eldest male, though the strong silent type, will wriggle his tail or peek his ears when I say something directed toward him. And non verbal communication like eye batting is sometimes the most affectionate and personal of all. Sorry for the story book post 😅 Great coverage!
My "Garfield" loves to come and listen to me play guitar!? She'll fall asleep on my ottoman, which is right in front of my chair and snooze out! I'd like to think that's it's my great guitar playing and excellent singing voice - so I'll just leave it that way!! 😁
My oldest cat just sits on my lap if i talk to him he gives me that serious look cats can do and then its headbuts and diging his claws in me time bc he cant retract them at times but he loves to cuddle and he is too cute to resist

Mine certainly always listens. He just reacts to things if he wants to. Ollie will come over almost 100% of the time when I say his name. Unless he is asleep. And Ols recognizes words without my using treats to train him. If I say "Oh, there's Carl outside". (Carl is the neighborhood wandering cat). He'll rush to the window to look for Carl. Say, "Cool. Birds!" and Ols is off to check out the sky. Cutest thing ever.
My Siamese cat is extremely intelligent. If I tell her my husband is being mean to me, she'll go after him. Then, when I tell her to take it easy and show her loving side, she'll be very sweet. It just happened today.
I’ve always said a cat is listening to you but takes a message and gets back to you later. My Wendy listens and obeys but my Oreo hears me but ignores me and doesn’t care. I guess Wendy being a female and Oreo a male must have something to do with it 😹😂
Somehow all of my cats immediately respond to the word treat. It is amazing. They also have a definite ritual when I have forgotten treat time. They sit and stare at the treat container😂 I only have one who listens and responds to his name. He is 17 years old. He responded to his name even as a kitten. Each cat is truly different. But I do believe that they all loved to be talked to.
