An outdoor feral cat adopted me.... he lived outside for two years without a family. I told him he was coming to live with me and he has never wanted to go outside again....
cats do want to go back outside, inside has a lot of unseen chemicals that need your cat to have a healthy liver…sunlight helps them get rid of the toxins.
When she was a little kitten, Snowy would always crawl under the covers to snuggle and knead my chest. As she got older (she's now 3yo), she 'became more independent' and that became less and less frequent. Now that it's getting colder, she's back! Sometimes, we cuddle for hours! I Love her!!!!
Our cat has two of her cat trees right beside the heat vents in the bedroom of which have multiple beds and two regular beds in the living room along with her playpen and another bed inside it also in the living room. All of her beds in the living room have extra blankets.
My Cat and I lived with my Mom for a bit when she needed someone to be around, anyhow Mom was cold one night and I had the heat on, Mom's chair was right next to a vent, I looked under the table by her to check the vent my Cat was laying on it soaking up all the heat, normally he camped out under my desk which also has a vent, he liked my Mom a lot he would lay on her lap a lot she usually had a blanket on around her.
My cat has two self warming mats, plus a big thick blanket at the foot of my daughter's bed. He loves to take sun baths with his belly facing the sunlight.
Just keep your heart open and seek professional help if your pet if your pet acts up. "Never, I repeat never shun your pet because they show some behavior problems! All pets deserve a Loving home and someone to loves them back.
Having a medium to long and very dense coat, my cat is rather happy to see the end of summer. Gone are the days of sticking to the shade or stretching out on the cool kitchen floor. These cooler but still mild days of autumn are her sweet spot.
Living in the high desert of Nevada, it gets as hot as 120 degrees. Winter: down to 20 degrees. Fostering several dozen cats outside, yes, we lose a few...but most of them make it. Year after year. Amen.❤❤❤😊
2:15 hold on a minute. A cat is only comfortable if the room is at least 30C? So every cat in Britain is permanently uncomfortable?
11 дней назад+9
That seemed too hot to me also. My cats appear to prefer 75ish F. Above 80 F seems too hot for them, as they lay on the hard floor instead of their beds.
Our cat is going outdoors every day (or better night) regularly several times a night for several hours. She can get indoors any time she wants (as well as outdoors). So she absolutely can choose herself if and how long she stays outside. She does not mind even heavy rain or snow. What she does not like however is strong winds and heavy rain. Not a weather anyone would like to be in.
Ctas' much smaller body mass is one of the primary factors in their much lower temperature tolerance. They usually feel warm to us because they lose a lot of heat so they'r like small, fluffy radiators. A healthy cat's normal body temperature is between 38.1°C and 39.2°C (100.5°F and 102.5°F). They're prone to both overheating and getting too cold. AS FF said, their coat length, size, mass, and colour, can all be factors for a given cat.
My ginger male burrows under my blanket, my feral girl prefers the stereo tuner, and my Russian Blue perches in a sunny window 🐱 😊

Try to break your feral girl of the tuner habit. Laying on top of something that radiates electromagnetic waves can cause serious health problems (including cancer) in the long term.
Thank you! I have a blanket covering the ladder leading to the loft where the stereo is and she no longer goes up there. I have the cat tree in a sunny window now and that has become her new heated sleep space! 😁🐱❤️
I have 2 cats, one stays in and one is in and out 24 hours a day. She comes in long enough to check out the food bowl and then back out the door she wants. She'll sleep for about 4 or 5 hours inside and that's it other than that she is outside rain or shine cold or warm even in the snow.
Consider making your in and out cat an indoor cat. It will add significantly to his or her lifetime. My current buddy is pushing 21. He goes out during summer but on a leash or carrier with screens.
Not sure it’s good for cats to be outside alone. My friend used to brag about his cat getting in fights until we noticed that his injuries were all on his south end. Seems like he was losing his battles. He finally got his cat neutered & it turned into a great companion. Please consider keeping cats inside or on a screened patio.
We rescued a kitten a while ago he turned out to be a Siberian Forrest Cat. He hates the heat when it's cold up here in the Michigan UP he wants to go on the unheated. Enclosed porch to chill in a window and watch the world go by. We are still trying to find a way to let him out there with minimal heat loss during Sub Zero weather 🙃
Cold weather isn't what bothers cats... it's hot weather. In Wisconsin we had barn cats that were just fine outside to around -5 or -10 degrees F. Here in Arizona the cats are just fine in winter where it gets 30-50F, but in summer they freak out when it's over 100 and demand to be let inside where the air conditioning is on.
Cold wheather is really dangerous to cats as well they can freeze paws, ears, tail and get internal damage according to the emergency animal hospital from 19,4 celcius earlier if old or sick. Ed I’ve asked as live in Sweden.
My tiny cat gets cold at night. She paws at me once to ask and then I hold the quilt up and she insists on sleeping on my belly. I adore all 7 pounds of her.
My cats have free access to the garage because some of their litterboxes are there, plus sunlight in the day, but even though i live in California, night time temps in the winter can drop down to low 40s upper 30s where i live and yet my shortest haired cat still want to sleep in the garage. I feel his ears and they're definitely cold but if i bring him inside to one of the many cat beds he will still go to the garage.
The sun shines in on the couch in the afternoon. I can count on her to be there all afternoon. She will then come upstairs and lay in the front bay window where the sun is still shining. I have a pet heating pad on the bed. I start it and she just jumps on it.
Although they do like warmth and laying down under the sun, none of the cats I've had so far have been comfortable at 30°C. As soon as we have that temperature, you see them inside searching for a dark shadowy place or laying on colder tile floors.
I had a cat that when she was cold would tell you with a meow that sounded like she was saying ‘cold’. She slept with me and would wake me up if she wanted out to potty or she was cold. The meows sounded completely different.
My Gus Gus figured out what our portable heater is about a year ago, I woke up in the middle of the night he figured it out and saw him giving it kisses and telling it he loves it. (Long slow blink). Tonight we have it out again and immediately he went it to and laid right next to it. I keep our house at around 70-75 degrees, but its as if the cold from outside hits him even though he never goes outside or even near a door.
My Nina doesn’t like to lie in the warm sun nor does she like warm blankets. She chooses to lie on cardboard scratches and on the floor. She rarely gets up on any furniture, only 1 chair and doesn’t like to cuddle or be hold but is very affectionate in other ways. I always have warm and fluffy available to her as I’ve rescued and fostered many cats and she’s the strangest one yet
@ that’s great. I do love my Nina so very much. I love how she is and has taught me so much about cats true needs and behaviors. She shows me that we are always learning new things and we are all very individual
My cat does do more attempts to snuggle, like trying to come under My bed covers and sit by my head, however He won't stay there all night. He doesn't like the sound of My fan heater He either mews until I turn it off or he trys to stand right in front of it so I have to turn it off because it will burn him. He has think winter coat so He isn't cold enough to get sick but Je knows its colder because nos nose gets cold. Cats can easily die from a common cat cold but thye can't cach that off of a human.
Cats body temperature is higher than humans. That said, my kitty Tango loved plopping down in front of the heating vent. His sister, Cha Cha was a sunbather.
My cat is an indoor cat and my apartment always stays at 71 degrees regardless of season, but I can always tell when he's getting dangerously cold when, after staring out the window at the cold outdoors, he retreats to his heated bed and refuses to move. Then there was the cat that I had growing up who would ask to be let out into snowstorms at night and reappear several days later just to briefly eat and then disappear back into the snow, and only stuck around after the snow was melted.
I have a 🐈 and he have ten years old plus 8 months, He likes to sleep under my blanket, he comes close to me many times and tells me that he wants me to hug him and take him home, but when he realizes that I am working, he sits in front of me until I finish and immediately gets up. To turn him and if I don't move anywhere, he immediately starts to growl.
My Giuseppe Puss has one of the cat cave beds, I installed an electric heat mat in there along with his favourite blanky and one of my sweaters, so he has my scent to make him feel comfortable, the heat mat has a thermostat and is plugged into a timer, he loves it, the room temperature is 20 degrees and his bed is located near the radiator
My boy seems to absolutely hate being warm. He is thriving in my dad's cold ass house. In my warm home, he confines himself to the bathroom floor, coldest place in the house!
Miss Stripes LOVES to sleep IN bed with me on cold nights. She buries herself under the blanket and sleeps all night there. Mr Blacky has come and done that, too, but, he usually just buries himself for a few minutes to warm up, then heads off to wherever he wants to go, he might came back to warm up again. Mr Tabby the Spoilt Feral Housecat is this really feral cat that lives in my house with me. On cold nights, he often hops on my bed to sleep next to me...or on me. Sometimes he will get between my left and sleep with hiss head between my feet. There are also boxes and other enclosed spaces for cats to sleep in when it is cold.
So you're telling me I'm a cat. My thermostat never drops below 30 c. I do not do cold very well. lol definitely strage for being Canadian born and raised
My cat loves to be outside. Temperature outside now is 4 to 8 degrees, far colder than her bed inside the house. She has a microchip controlled hatch to come in if she feels cold so I guess this article doesn't apply to all cats.
I live in a basement suite, there are two. We had a stray that would curl up on a couch I had outside side. I picked him up and brought him into my room and and we slept great
Our two cats must be an exeption then. One of them loves to sleep for a few hours in the basement (admittedly he used to be a semi-feral mostly outdoor cat that came to us) and the other one likes my moms cold bedroom. We don´t understand why. We offer them so many places in warm rooms. Whenever they come inside and are wet we quickly dry them with our clothes or a small towel so they don´t stay cold. We bought so many beds, pillows and even a heated blanket for them but they enjoy the cool rooms more.
My flurrkin is from a cold planet apparently, AKA arctic cat sleeps on the ac in the winter heat is set at around 68 degrees and he will complain and in dramatic fashion let you know he is melting in the cruel oven of a house.
As someone who feeds about 20+ ferral cats that no one else takes care of in our neighborhood, I can't let that many inside no matter how cold it gets. We have a few of our own inside and would love to shelter the others but we don't have a basement or garage or even a building outside to put them in. So my husband and I made some small winter shelters outside in hopes that they share. Tomorrow night will be down to 15° F. Thats all that I know to do😔
My next door neighbors' cat has decided that he would rather live with my wife and I. My wife feeds ferals and when their cat mingled with the strays for our kitty kibble, he started to come inside our house as well, but the ferals are too timid to do likewise.
86 degrees? Rubbish! I keep our townhome at 73 degrees Fahrenheit, day and night, summer and winter, and if in transitional seasons I shut off the heat or A/C temporarily, I will keep it between 72 and 75. All three of our cats seem pretty comfortable. Of course, they sleep with us.
It's cold when my 12 yo Cody paws at me to have me lean back in my recliner, and put a blanket over my legs so he can "tent" underneath. I'm also the heating pad for all 3 of them after I go to bed.
I have outside cats and im wanting to make their sleeping area better so they stay warm. We live in 6 acres and were staying in a camper till we get our house on the property in Spring. It's a two bedroom and two bath camper at least but we have two dogs and one inside cat so we don't have much room but there is a small old farm house that I'm wanting to set up for the outside cats. We get a lot dumped off here due to having a creek on the property. I want to start a sanctuary but don't have the money at all rn, heck I go without eating to make sure all the animals have plenty. I like my animals chunky ❤ we just had a mother give birth so I was thankful she found us before she had them babies. They sleep right in front of a heater
I know that when I get one of my cats under the blankets and sheets... after half an hour, they want to get out again, no mather the low temperature. And that is okay, when I'am still awake... but after this I might be one moment awake again... but temperatures in my house can drop until 12 degrees celcius. Never less. And my cat Nelson lies next to me in winter... but my cat Sparta always lies to my feet, but above the blankets. Lucky for him he is more fat than Nelson, but he is still a cat... stays under a blanket for some time... and than he has to move, too groom himself.
I remember when we lost power to an ice storm. My mom's chair was right in front of the fireplace and our cat moved in right on her lap for hours never letting her move 🤣
My cat seems too warm at 86. Perhaps that’s because we have high humidity often in the summer. Also, she is a cat of a certain age! And possibly feels it more keenly.
When i was a kid, I had a cat who loved running in snow and would dig out little caverns in the bigger piles and make himself a little igloo. He also loved laying out in the rain during summer downpours. Then come in lookin like a drowned rat and would let us dry him with a towel and blow dryer. Then swipe at us when he had enough 😂
Heating pad on our couch with her "sleepy bed" on top. We have (unfortunately) cathedral ceilings, so the heat is way up. Makes us humans cold, too. She sleeps wherever the sun is on our carpet or outside on the swing in the sun (still warm\hot in our area).
idk my cats are the opposite. Its between 20 and 23 degrees in here most of the time, and I'm in Canada so its not dry heat or anything its regular 4 seasons, -30c in the winter +30c in the summer and my cats are always trying to cool themselves. They will lay on the bare floor, tummy down legs spread, rather than a rug or carpet. One of them in particular loves to lay down in the bath tub because of the cold porcelain. Maybe mine are just weirdos.
Not every cat seeks heat, one of mine seeks colder spots everywhere and he can't lay in bed for a long period as he gets too hot, likely genes of outside cats are changing actually to accommodate to -20C winters.
@@HOLLASOUNDS are you sure you wanted to answer my comment? Because my cat does it throughout the whole year, funny how the fact that they're outside in summer drives them to get thicker coats then (though not as long ones as actual winter coats for shorthairs), and get much thinner hair when they're inside!
Darker coat absorb more heat?! This point can't be right as darker colours emit more heat and, unless there is direct sunlight, when it's coldest there's no opportunity to absorb heat as the cat's body is warmer than the environment. If cats had adapted this to preserve body heat they'd turn towards white.
After 2 minutes of uninteresting bla bla, you'll find out that 2 of the 5 "signs" (3 and 4) are not "signs" it's genetic things they can't change. The rest ist also not about "signs", it's how to make it warmer. What a waste of a video.
This video could only have been made by an American. Riddled with inaccuracies. Domestic cats, even short hairs can survive in temperatures down to minus 20 degrees Celsius providing they can find some shelter like a barn or shed.
In Sweden, cats happily trot outside in -40 degree weather. Not staying outside for long, but going out to look for prey. Barn cats I saw when younger, never came inside the house, but went into the hay loft and the barn when it was too bitter outside. Cat's enjoy being everywhere from a hot tin roof in the sun to polar forests. What you are showing here is plain and utter bull shit and click bait.
What a load of rubbish. My cats were perfectly OK being outside most of the time in wind, rain, snow. Coming from the uk no one is going to put their heating up to 30 degrees. Utter nonsense. My cat loved the winter temperatures.
An outdoor feral cat adopted me.... he lived outside for two years without a family. I told him he was coming to live with me and he has never wanted to go outside again....
I got one who adopted me too...
Now I'm stuck with her and I love her❤
cats do want to go back outside, inside has a lot of unseen chemicals that need your cat to have a healthy liver…sunlight helps them get rid of the toxins.
@@yawbear outside has microplastics in air and pollution .... surely you know this
I have one of these too. I've never seen him go outside since he walked in my door about 5 months ago.
He may not have been feral, but a stray or abandoned housecat. Bless you for giving him a good home.
My cat just crawled under my blanket and licked my foot. She is very content at the moment.
(Big smile!)
Mine likes nibbling on my toes and I’m ticklish 😂
One of our cats sits right on top of the vents, hogging all the warm air for herself. We call her our “heat ho’...lol.
Hahaha that's cute
Our cat has two of her cat trees right beside the heat vents in the bedroom of which have multiple beds and two regular beds in the living room along with her playpen and another bed inside it also in the living room. All of her beds in the living room have extra blankets.

My flurrkin is from a cold planet apparently, AKA arctic cat sleeps on the ac in the winter heat is set at around 68 degrees and he will complain and in dramatic fashion let you know he is melting in the cruel oven of a house.
My cat loves to chill in a cold balcony at around 0°C. He can easily sleep there for an hour in a cosy blanket 'nest' I made for him.
Thats all that I know to do😔
For my indoor cutest babies, I provided them with cat heating pads and many blankets 😊
86 degrees? You're kidding me. I would roast on a cold day. That has to be a typo.
That’s what I thought too!
I feel like if you enjoy your house being 86, you're not a human. You're actually just an iguana in a trench coat.
My parents cat loves the cold, she'll come running if you ever open up the fridge or freezer
LOL! Are they cold? It's obvious! When they use you like a bedwarmer and won't get off of you, they're cold!
86 degrees ! Damn
Lol
My cat always screams and yells like he's crazy and I have to yell shut up all the time!
30deg.C and most comfortable ? I doubt that.Whenever it even it approaches that kind of temperature our cats alway seek out cooler spots
I had a cat that would crawl under the covers and curl up against my chest and sleep
1:26 so cute
My wife is cold in the middle of summer. There's isn't a cold spot anywhere in our house. It's why I have a fan on me year round.
I Dont make my cat wear clothes !
Nope! Me either!
Cats would love it in my apartment during summer then. 30 degrees indoors. 🥵

Know the breed if you get purebred. Siamese HATES the cold.
Oh that’s a shame. My heating never goes on anymore 😂
2:15 That’s fine, but then she (Ms. Cat) can pay to get the temperature up to 86 degrees F.
80°? 30°? You gotta be kidding me.
Why not? If you can afford to let your kitties staying in one room, you sleep another bedroom.
@@rainbowcat83 answer my question first.
How hot do you think that is
My cat seems too warm at 86.
86!? My cat would have to help with the gas bill lol😊
Heating pad on our couch with her "sleepy bed" on top. We have (unfortunately) cathedral ceilings, so the heat is way up. Makes us humans cold, too. She sleeps wherever the sun is on our carpet or outside on the swing in the sun (still warm\hot in our area).
68 is room temp? are you tryin to kill me?
Comfortable at 86° F? Is that why they like to cool off in front of the A/C in the summer?
My fluffy black boy won't come near me in the summer.
Don’t let them out
idk my cats are the opposite.
Could easily break a sweat working in a deep freezer .. no wonder I get a free furry chest comfortable 😋
Not every cat seeks heat, one of mine seeks colder spots everywhere and he can't lay in bed for a long period as he gets too hot, likely genes of outside cats are changing actually to accommodate to -20C winters.
My cat has elected to sleep by the drafty window, I think he enjoys being able to wake up and monitor the goings-on
Most cats grow a winter coat, and it's much thicker then there summer coat.
Mine too she likes to be in front of the fan
@@melodi996 I said most cats, not all cats, most cats regardless of being indoor or outdoor will grow thick winter coat.
3:42 Even purriaries get cold
But if I touch my cat's ears or toesies, she will beat me.
All my cats are cold
68 REALLY
In Sweden, cats happily trot outside in -40 degree weather. Not staying outside for long, but going out to look for prey. Barn cats I saw when younger, never came inside the house, but went into the hay loft and the barn when it was too bitter outside.
Cat's enjoy being everywhere from a hot tin roof in the sun to polar forests.
What you are showing here is plain and utter bull shit and click bait.
Watch with cat sleeping on me
What a load of rubbish. My cats were perfectly OK being outside most of the time in wind, rain, snow. Coming from the uk no one is going to put their heating up to 30 degrees. Utter nonsense. My cat loved the winter temperatures.
