Accidentally caught one while catfishing the Blue river in Indiana 25 years ago. Amazing powerful salamanders. Great video. Hopefully nature wasn’t too harsh on them after the flooding
@@JDubfishing79 Oh interesting! I know that does happen every now and then - if they’re hungry they’ll snap at things passing by. They really are so cool - thanks! I hope so too. The population survived similar river flood levels in 2021 with tropical storm Fred but that’s some big weather events back to back so hard to tell
Macro-hellbender texture is so epic! So many oranges, greens, browns, bumps, folds, fingers. Overall, such an excellenet job taking great high quality video and describing what we're witessing. I thought it was intresting how they breath through their skin but get tired from wrangling one another and have to take a real gulp from the top of the water. i never knew that. Knowing that has improved my life in a small way that I enjoy. I also had never seen how the eggs stick together like that. Very Intresting!
@@GhostRanger75 That’s so kind! Glad you enjoyed it! Tried to lean harder into storytelling with this one - especially since there was so much neat behavior happening
You need to come back and film some beautiful Native Brook Trout too with that wonderful orange underbelly, always a good reason to keep visiting the Southern Appalachians!
Its fun to hear more about you going on these quests in addition to the wildlife scenes! It really makes you look forward to the awesome footage. You change the audio and I lock in so hard its amazing. You are a wizard with the edits I bet it takes forever

Thank you so much! The vid I am currently working on I actually filmed while free-diving in the ocean! Definitely more marine content to come in the future, but freshwater is the most accessible for me at the moment
Video idea: Brook Trout and Terrestrial Salamander Biodiversity. kinda like this but deep dive animal behavior of other salamanders. Toss some lichen B-roll in there that would be a hit!
I'm just going wild with the comments because I'm trying to have this video reach a million people. Fun idea though: You sell your art photography and Spencer (asheville artist) sells his wildlife narrative watercolor drawings. We both make a bunch of money and go on epic quests talking about wildlife and just having a nice time camping and enjoying the woods!
