in 2001, I played this game in game center of Shibuya Tokyo as taking a break from work when I was motocycle courier rider. then I weared uniform that printed "The Fastest Group" in back, it's company's catchphrase. when I got an ending the game, I turned to back then many crowded highschool students there. then they said "the fastest rider!" and "I knew a motorcycle courier rider can escape from a police well" I was embarrassed.
Imagine a Wild Riders game with a story. Like Keith and Trish's biker gangs being commissioned by a mysterious man named Dusk Ryder to deliver a pair of mysterious packages from Massive City to another city (I had the name "Anima City" as a start.) Keith's package run is first, simply being getting to the carrier ship and then getting from the carrier ship to an abandoned factory in Anima City. Trish's run takes place two days later, being the same except for Trish's more expert controls. After that, Keith takes Trish's package to the ruins while Ryder takes Keith's, and the game reaches a bigger point. Other things: More types of level Bike upgrades Etcetera
I wish this game was successful enough to get a home release at the time with more characters, tracks, and maybe even a story mode or something where you choose which gang to join, customize your character, and then be able to pick and customize different bikes like old school choppers, modern (for 2001) sport bikes, dirt bikes, etc.
Gonna post some ideas I have for gameplay that the home release could've had, or just any ideas someone might need if they wanted to make a successor or something and put it on Steam. STORY: Play as various biker team members as they race through multiple cities across America, always staying one step ahead of the law and occasionally having "friendly competitions" with other teams. GAME MODES: Clean Getaway: Outrun the cops to the rendezvous point in order to get out of town. Make sure to avoid obstacles and use whatever tactics you can in order to keep a gap between you and the police captain! Race: Face off against a rival gang as you tear through the city streets, taking various extreme shortcuts in order to get and stay ahead of the pack. Carnage Run: How much chaos can you cause with a timer? Smash through various obstacles in order to give yourself more time and points! The bigger the obstacle, the bigger the score! Versus: Challenge another gang leader in a one on one race across town in order to prove that you are the fastest rider in the country! Beating a rival gang leader also grants you access to their clothing style, motorcycle parts, and gang logo. MOTORCYCLES: SPORT BIKES: Your average bike for your average speed freak, having decent handling, a good top speed, but being pretty lightweight, making it very easy to lose momentum when hitting obstacles. Kyoto Comet (1997 Kawasaki ZXR 1100) Yosano Switchblade X (2000 Yamaha YZF-600 R6) Cigno 583 (1996 Ducati Monster 600) Heretic Tsunami (2000 Buell M2 Cyclone) Rasch 1085 (1997 BMW R1100R) CRUISERS: A good compromise between high speed sports bikes and heavyweight choppers, easily being able to keep their speed up when smashing through small-ish obstacles while having decent acceleration, though their handling isn't exactly the best. Yosano Rumbler (2000 Yamaha V-Max 1200) Heretic Nomad (1999 Harley Davidson Sportster 1200) Rasch Vagabund (1999 BMW R1200C) Heretic Storm 120T (1996 Buell S1 Lightning) Kyoto Tremor R (2001 Suzuki GSF 1200 S Bandit) CHOPPERS: Bikes built for straight line speed and being an unstoppable force, being able to ram through most obstacles without breaking a sweat. While their handling is subpar at best, their top speed can easily make up for that short coming. Heretic Reaper (2000 Harley Davidson VRSC V-Rod) Kyoto Brawler (1998 Honda Valkyrie) Yosano Magnum (2001 Suzuki VL1500 Intruder) Heretic Road Knight Classic (Custom 1972 Harley Davidson Shovelhead Chopper) Yosano Warrior C (2000 Yamaha Road Star) RACE BIKES: Built for speed and handling, though extremely brittle. Only the most skilled riders should try to tame these wild beasts. Yosano Shuriken RSR (2000 Yamaha R7) Heretic Ace 170R (1994 Harley Davidson VR1000) Cigno Rapier (1999 Ducati 748RS Corse) Kyoto Falcon X Turbo (1999 Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird) Kyoto RSB200 (2001 Kawasaki ZX-7R)
Keith having a VMax is kinda funny because has the cruiser + sport bike rolled in one. Making it either a late game acquisition or just denying the rest of the bikes
@@RangerTroll I've been looking for years for anything about this game's soundtrack and I can't find squat. I've tried ripping from the actual rom, but I can't find the music files. Nobody knows nothing.
@@CustomStyleCajunTurkey I know how you feel. I'll never forget how such a unique game and concept slipped by the public. What did you find in the rom exactly?
It occurs to me that this game was made a garishly stylistic as possible to create more unfair distractions for the player. There are portions in it that you can't even see what your doing for all the extra flashy bits going on on-screen.
I remember this game in Whistler's 8 Cinema theater before they took out the arcade...this was the only game I actually beaten when it was around. I pumped so many coins into this game it brings back memories!!
I'm not too much of a completionist. I know there are a few differences playing as the other character, but it's still mostly the same game. Maybe I should have done it anyways, but still, that's why I didn't.
@@PilloTheStar There are videos of that character by other people, though. That said, the game has been added to Flycast fairly recently, and while I can't currently run the game at full speed on that emulator, I plan to make a video with both characters when the emulator gets to the point where I can do that. Flycast can run the emulator at a higher resolution, while Demul had problems with the graphics when using the higher resolution plugin, so the picture quality should be a little better on my next video.

A Dreamcast with graphics and the Engine of jet set radio or crazy taxi could have been a good fit for a game like this which is from a much more powerful hardware. On PS2 could have been less difficult, because PS2 at its fullest its closer to a Naomi 2...
This would be a perfect Wii port. Even for the Switch. If NINTENDO only gave SEGA arcade games more love. Im talking awesome 3D sega arcade games. Planet Harrier, Daytona usa 2, magical truck adventure for example. Perfect for the Virtual store!
This game lags for me the first time I run it because of the shader cache, but after playing through it the first time or second time, it should start to run normally. If you're just referring to the performance in general, I don't know of a way to make it run faster.
true about it being rather short, but it is a throwback to Hang-On, but with typical QTE centric moments whose success rewards you with a wider distance from the Captain.
Has anyone broke 1 million points in this game? With a handlebar controller and Flycast, my best score was around 1,252,439. You gotta collect the lamp posts and objects on the sidewalks and corners and learn when exactly to pull or push the bar during a slide. That rear brake is also a must use period. But I can never get past that third jump at 5:36. Any tips?
Not on this video, of course, but I think I had hit a million, although still likely under your best score. At 5:36, if you can't make the last jump, it's likely because you lost too much speed leading up to it. After pressing the button to jump, I press and hold the button, which I guess is the same as pulling up on the handlebar on real hardware. This is to keep the bike from being at an angle when I land. It's more obvious when I do this at 3:44. I would suggest making a save state before starting the 3 jumps to more easily try it out.
It's something I had planned to do. I was looking into a bug in Flycast today, but didn't find a solution so far. It's not a really big deal, so I could still make a video if I can't fix it.
@@arronmunroe Thanks for the quick reply! I tested it out last night with my AMD FX-8320 and Radeon RX 570 and it played at 60 frames, but stuttered here and there and slowed down with audio issues. My system my just be too old (built it in 2014). Is there anything I need to do settings-wise with DEMUL? If you don't want to get into specifics, it's fine lol
I don't remember about audio, but when I played it, there were stutters related to the shader cache. What I did was record the input using the netplay feature and then when I played it back, the stutters wouldn't have been a problem, although because it wasn't my first time trying it, I don't actually think the game was stuttering when I originally played this anyways. I would suggest trying the game a little more to see if the stutters show up the second time, but it may still not be perfect. One last thing is you are using a relatively recent version of Demul, right? The very latest one is from Apr 28, 2018, but I may have been using one from 2017 here.
