Surprisingly good and satisfying movie. I’ve seen dozens of these old forgotten, black and white crime and noir movies. This one stands shoulders above the rest.
Great cast. I have always had a soft spot for Jane Wyatt. Dick Powell did a pretty good job too, as a bored, trapped, miserable guy who made a super bad mistake. Jane was great to want to keep the marriage going, and Dick for wanting the same thing. Felt super sorry for Lizabeth. She got a real bum deal for just wanting a little consideration, and love. She just made bad choices. Great movie. Thanks for posting. I signed up for your channel. Keep them coming. ❤💛💙💚
I imagine that this film got pretty-good reviews in its day - it was very well-acted, the sets/costumes/casting/writing/filming/ directing excellent! …The only thing about this I’d change was the melodramatic music; it/they deserved better. Thank-You for uploading classics!!!
This is one of the best noir films of all time. This is one I wished I'd not seen before, so I could watch it ove. Thank youjk, it still drives me nuts that no one ever fixed the broken window.
He never apologized to his wife. So selfish. He feels guilty but not sorry. It was the model that broke up with him. She cared more about his family than he did. Jane Wyman is so pretty.
Beautiful ending. Just make sure you do deligent thinking before taken an action. Control your emotions, for emotion is more powerful than knowledge, it is better to forgive, forget and forgo than revenging it always leads to sour taste. Thank you for posting.
I like both types he plays. However, not Burr’s fault, but the Perry Mason show was very repetitive. Here comes another “but”…….i loved the Perry Mason show. I’m still watching it today on Prime Video.
@@CissyBrazil you're right. I'm in Cognitive decline at 79, so I'm still watching Perry Mason too. I didn't mean to say I don't like it. I just prefer him, when he's Bad!! In character.
SEEING THIS MOVIE BRINGS SO MANY MEMORIES! SOME BAD AND SOME GOOD! BUT SON OF A GUN!!! HUSBANDS GET BORED AND THERE GOES THEIR BIG HEAD AND THEN THE LITTLE HEAD TAKES OVER!!!😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
IDK why she rejected Raymond Burr but she was going to marry the guy in prison; they were both bad choices. The Dick Powell character should have told his wife soon after the relationship ended. But then, the plot would have been kind of bland if he did. This was a really well written, directed and acted movie.
😂😂 I was thinking the very, very same thing and her hair should’ve been standing on end and dripping with water spray. Ha h ha. These oldies were goodies though! Elizabeth Scott is not my favorite actress, however.
Raymond Burr played many very entertaining bad guys. I wish Perry Mason did not get him type cast. He plays a damn good bad and he is far more realistic than a good lawyer in the system which is even a hundred times worse today than the Perry Mason days.
Too somber (grave yard) for me, why didn’t Johnny take the bait earlier, instead of getting his head kicked in a few times for that troublesome women?.
Old movies are so great to watch. Excellent stories and excellent cast. Great acting.
Skirt ain't half bad, but nothing compared with the thick backsides and giant melons of today's movies.
I love those mahogany speed-boats from this era, Her’s is beautiful!!
I love the severe quips Dick Powell comes up with. Powell to Burr: “have you adopted me?” 😅

Back when we had the right of self defense in California. We still do, but you have to conceal carry with more caution.
Enjoying this. The last time I saw it was at the drive in. I was all of 7yrs old.
That means you are 83 this year. Wishing you a healthy long life
One hell of a good movie, acting was fantastic.
U bet!!! 👍
Well worth watching, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Yes full of those over melodramatic strings …. Completely out of fashion as far music goes

How did that hat stay on his head during the boat ride?
He is a very stoic lad!
Good film! Had me wondering how it would end.
I think Dick Powell was one handsome devil! ❤

A top story thankyou ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I saw this movie a year back Watching it again. But don't remember at all except for couple of scenes.
I love Raymond Burr when hes being Diabolical! Hes at his Best,in those types of roles. The Master! So much better than being Perry Mason.

For me i think that only one head has ever been in charge. Doesn't matter the boredom level.

Lizabeth is gorgeous

I'm expecting that this film probably has a Johnny in it somewhere.

Powell was weird ; he was like a stiff board / & Raymond burr was seriously off his rocker
Preview volume loud and clear. Movie starts and volume turned down to barely audible. Can't hear.. can't watch.
Serious crush on the actress Lisabeth Scott. Such an interesting voice and manner. I think she was better than Lauren Bacall
Lizbeth looks good without her mustache.
MacDonald, the original incel
Burr is really brilliant in this
Loose ends. Lotsa loose ends. Like guns showing up. And having a police radio in your apartment etc.
They're n a speed boat going fast and his hat doesnt evn move. Hilarious n old flicks.

You know it’s glued on his head
No bad language or neuity either 😊

I did not catch where they had an affair. I seen this flick 3 times I never see an indication of an affair.
Thau who doth glance with lust upon a woman comittith the same sin as the actual act of adultery but worse.
Uh... 26:55? She ain't getting something off his lip.
Too somber (grave yard) for me, why didn’t Johnny take the bait earlier, instead of getting his head kicked in a few times for that troublesome women?.
6:42 Perry Mason

Rowing in a suit, tie, hat, coat buttoned.
A homophobic nightmare…getting stuck in an elevator alone with Raymond Burr
Worst dressed actor award goes to Raymond Burr.
