Excellent movie! Slow burn beginning, surprisingly good twists which keep the audience guessing into the last act, and even engaging morality and legality issues. Thank you for uploading this somewhat obscure gem!
While filming with George Hamilton a kid came up to peppard and Hamilton. The kid asks peppard if he was an actor or a film star and peppard tells the kid, that he's an actor. The kid then turns to Hamilton and asks, " how about you, mister?" Hamilton replies, " oh ,I'm a movie star!"
Fifty-five/-six years old and it still looks modern, despite the absence of cellphones and all the modern paraphenalia that we managed all right to do without back then.
Great movie, great cast. I recognized the guy who played the lawyer from a Columbo episode in which he played the murderer, Richard Kiley. He had a great voice.
Yes! I wish the film had focused more on Kiley, with his sonorous baritone. In 1969, George Peppard could *smoke* his way through the film, which shows how tobacco taboos have changed.
A very well made film, very 1960's in style, but none the worse for that. Cast is top notch, and the writing very good. An old story line is well executed here.
I love her coat at the beginning of the movie. I loved watching this also to see how life was in the 60s. The US looked in the beginning of the movie really like the world's most successful and rich country. Things changed since then. At 25:55 I wonder if it was an editing error when "Matt" left the court before the judge said what his rule was or he left because he guessed from what the judge was saying that that what he's going to rule.
She was ill fated- Astunning woman who could flat out act - Hounded by the US govt for her poliical views - She never had a chance - Look it up a terrible tragedy -
Some in government today are Dirty Dog traitors and get away with it because they're part of government. America cannot be great as long as this is allowed.
Charles McGraw came in halfway through: both he and Peppard became alcoholics, disastrously so in McGraw's case. Peppard went into rehab and got a little more time...to make the "A-Team".
In our imperfect system, the understanding is that we’re willing to risk a certain, hopefully minimal, amount of guilty to go free in exchange for protecting a greater number of innocent citizens.
25:18 Judge Kinsella: There's no doubt that in the first half of the twentieth century, we - and I mean the press and the public as well as the courts - had looked the other way as our police, in the name of law and order, showed a patent disregard for individual liberties as guaranteed by the Bill of Rights. But it seems now that the PENDULUM is swinging a little too far the other way.
Did he turn the stove on and then leave the kitchen? He did, lol 😂, it's fortunate that it was a whistling kettle 😂!!! A lying, cheating wife and a suspicious husband resulting in a murder. Who dunnit???
As for me, I can't believe how the Screen or Script Writer's had a Man who had been imprisoned & had been before the Justice System with suspected violent Rape & Murder of a Woman... and, the Administrative Personal Secretary/Receptionist is left alone with him in the Office.... especially when the Woman has her back to him most of the time, typing. Not very good work place health & safety practice.
Spreco? They were wonderful! Nobody will ever have that opulence in cars! Oggi tutto è uguale e Made in China, anche le parti delle carrozzerie! Quelli erano gli anni dell’american dream!❤
@@robincutti4596 You got it right! That's when cars were crafted works of art most made in the USA! Now they're bland and all the same. Mostly ugly w/few exceptions.
Interesting enough story... but my word, what sloppy and boring editing! Could have been a 50-minute story. So many totally static moments, devoid or drama or meaning -- really yawn-provoking.
Started off ok, and then fizzled out. I thought it was absurd how everyone assumed that he was guilty. Why? He wasn't even in the same city. Didn't make much sense, and the acting was pretty bad, except for Jean Seberg. Everyone else looked like they were sleep walking.

Movie the way they used to make them. Classic.

This is an intelligent, thought provoking film. Very different from the garbage we are told to watch today.
George Peppard was
a good actor
I still love
The A- Team days

Thanks for the upload. A nice and compelling plot. They no longer do them like this.
I love these 60s movies.
Good one, glad I stuck with it - good performances all around. Thank you for sharing.
She was excptional in...
"Breathless" 1959.
Fantastic on location shots of DC!
Rest in peace George
True crime thriller in every respect.
Charming movies of the late 60ties.....including the Soundtrack ❤
Surprisingly well acted. Seberg was great

George Peppard was my first crush - oooooh!!!!!
Great movie with a brilliant George Peppard ❤
I remember watching this movie when I was 12? It's a movie that is excellent after all and hese years
Superb trick by
Matt to dodge them
Another cliff hanger! Some interesting moral and legal questions. 'If everyone was happy, you'd be out of a job.'
Such a great movie 🎥 ❤
Well done. Interesting set up and plot!
Good movie, enjoyed it! Thanks, Zara :)
Wow what a great film...love it🤙🏻🤙🏻
Charles McGraw came in halfway through: both he and Peppard became alcoholics, disastrously so in McGraw's case. Peppard went into rehab and got a little more time...to make the "A-Team".
Charles McGraw fell thru his bathroom glass shower door severed his brachial artery in his arm, bled to death.
Disgusting. The Constitution was to protect the innocent not the guilty!
In our imperfect system, the understanding is that we’re willing to risk a certain, hopefully minimal, amount of guilty to go free in exchange for protecting a greater number of innocent citizens.
In Cali things are backwards
Yeah, well how come trump will be your president AGAIN???!!! 🙄😢
Interesting film that asks questions such who is really innocent and who is really guilty?
Very nice movie.worth watching
Would have enjoyed the movie more without the repeated and extremely annoying ads.
I never watched this actor as a kid but such a cool dude
George the brad pitt of his day -they make a stunning couple dont they ?
Except not with Angelina!!!! 😮😮😮😮😮
Except in the 1969 there was more class!
OMG...Brad Pitts lisp certainly wasnt sexy compared to George Peppard..hunk!
I like this comparison very much -- I think I prefer Peppard
Just nothing like a married couple opening argument.
Kool vintage👍
Far too many ads
I totally agree. It practically ruined the movie for me.
Why the movie was
called 'Pendulum?
Maybe because the husband is commuting to murder the wife?😮
The judge’s speech commencing @24:47 explains it well, even containing the term itself within it.
25:18 Judge Kinsella: There's no doubt that in the first half of the twentieth century, we - and I mean the press and the public as well as the courts - had looked the other way as our police, in the name of law and order, showed a patent disregard for individual liberties as guaranteed by the Bill of Rights. I miss my 1968 Mercury Montego. That's when Detroit built great cars. New cars today suck.
Enjoyed hearing the Baltimore references
Great movie!
Phew what a handsome guy he was!!!
Effie wasn't in the room nor nearby when the husband told the wife he was traveling to New York for the speech
Nope....when you take that smile from George P's face, you take George P. away.

One thing with those Sixties pictures was the music track that was out of step with the grim drama: why did this one need singers ?
