Tim & Family I gotta ya say thank you 🙏! You inspired me to take the plunge and start my tractor business I always wanted to do . I pulled the trigger back in mid January and have enjoyed everything I’ve learned , experienced trials tribulations etc ... I bought a 2013 3320 JD it came with a 300x Hd bucket loader, Brush hog , Box blade , Post hole digger . Since you inspired me I bought the artillian Forks and grapple like yours and absolutely love it ! Also now I’ve bought a Disc harrow 2 gang 18” use it weekly as well my brush hog , also I have acquired a King Kutter 60” tiller , KIng Kutter landscape rake , a sifting bucket or rock bucket , a 72” grading blade , Heavy Hitch hiller bedder , and weights . Kens BoltOnHooks items as well I like the King Kutter products made in Alabama and they are very nice to deal for help or advice . In other words you are the salesman of the year the Super closer of closers ! A.B.C. Always Be Closing lol! I see you have struck again here ! All joking aside you have changed my life for the good forever ! Seriously thank you and god bless you and yours . a day on my tractor 🚜 chasing my dream is not work at all but a labor of love ❤️. Again thank you a million times I use all my attachments all the time and my business has paid for itself in 8 months ! I do a ton of weed abatement and Discing mainly, I live in Southern California so all are mandated to cut brush to prevent wild brush fires and all land has to be disced not just cut . I’ve also made friends with another tractor owner out here also , Now I’m shopping for a f550 dump truck or 5500 but that size anyways , I’m growing just like ya all !, I really wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my Heart and my Families, my girls just love it when they see how happy I am after a day on the tractor ... and of course my daughter loves that her Daddy rides her on the big Green Tractor ! Tells all her friends teachers etc at her school . It’s just been a great experience and love helping people out! Your truly an inspiration
Boy that really makes you appreciate how much work both by hand, or with a team of mules or oxen, the 1800's & 1900's American settlers did to settle this country....
It sure is nice seeing a new tractor owner. Once you have a tractor after never having one you start wonder about all the past projects you struggled with, wondering how you ever made it without one and why in the world you didn’t get one sooner. Good on him!
That hits home for me. My woods is mostly ash trees that are continuously dying from the ash borer. I use my “Johnny 4” series with 4 in one bucket to grab and stack. Sure makes it easier. Thanks again to you folks for the videos and the inspirations.
See this is what I love about your channel. You show real world applications of the equipment, not a controlled demonstration with a controlled outcome.
Congratulations Mark on your new 1025R She’s a real beaut. Tim that video was fun to watch and now I know how the 2038R carried that big log. It worked wonderfully.
Another great video guys .I bought my 1025R about 4 months ago based on what I saw you do with your Johnny. It's without a doubt the best purchase I've made in a long time. It may be small, but I'm both amazed and impressed by what I've managed to get done with it . Especially the backhoe.
I'm glad no one got hurt. Some of that felling looked a bit questionable. Tim and Christy did an excellent job once again showing what can be done with a relatively small machine. Tim maybe you should get a side gig as a JD salesman, I'm sure you would make a ton of commission.
I cringed more than once watching those guys run those saws. The other thing that gets me is the number of people running the saw with the oil/fuel caps on the bottom side. the oil pickup won't extend into the cap side of the tank more than about half way. So if the oil tank is more than about 1/2 empty the bar won't get lubed.
Wow really cool video Tim,those ash trees will make some nice firewood looks like you had plenty of help out there too. Keep up the good work as always god bless and thanks for sharing the video
I'm sure you already heard this a thousand times but one of the main things to consider right after the weight of what you are moving is how you are positioning it on your machine. You have to understand the effects of torsion and the damage it can do when those forces become too much on the bushings and pins. Even sometimes the arms themselves can give way if they are not sturdy enough. So that means positioning the piece evenly while moving it so the weight distribution is safer for the machine and the operator.
That tractor made removal of the logs so easy and I love to have that grapple if I could afford it to do some work on our property. The guy with the saw made cutting down the trees so easy also and that chainsaw was superb at cutting them down.
I think Danny should look into trading up to a 2038R the way yours is set up, with the right equipment that isn't working it's great fun....and at the end of the day have a tasty weenie roast fire with Ice cold root beers for everyone.:-)
Depends on the size of the tractor. You can estimate the weight of a log with tables found on the net. Different species have different weight per foot and of course it's heavier when first cut due to water content.
I am cooking out right now on ash wood from trees I just cut down. T-bone steaks and big pork chops. Down to one ash tree now, had 7 in the yard 10 years ago. Since I hate making stumps I will top a tree and then push over with the track loader rolling the root ball out of the ground. Would much rather fill a little hole than have a termite and ant buffet in the yard. What are people planting in place of their ash trees?
Johnny 2.0 can do a little bit more than" lil Johnny" I see. Seems like size helps that a lot though. I was surprised to see how much further up the chain you have to go to increase loader capacity . the 3 R series was the first one. I believe D also was higher but not by much.
@@MikeGetsItDone I went out to chk my 1025R & it does go right up. Would need to be careful going over stumps & rocks not to tear it off although the 2038 does have more ground clearance.
Not true Tim. Although it may be raised as high as it can go via the command cut lever, you can manually push up on the PTO coupler and pin it up higher.
@@TractorTimewithTim I noticed that too Tim, you are missing a pin that holds the PTO connector up and out of the way. Something you definitely want if you are doing all that work in the woods. Part number is AN232494.
Great video! I love see the 2038R with the use of the grapple bucket. Is that 48in width? Do you think you would ever want/ need three grapples ( add the center?)
Tim, since ordering (and waiting for) my 2038R, I've been re-watching all your 2038 videos. I see you have the rear dual SCV setup along with the power beyond. My question is about the 3rd function diverter for your grapple. Did I miss a video where you installed it on this unit. I saw the one where you installed the artiliian diverter on your 1025. Is this basically the same setup? Did the optional dual rear SCV set up cause any issue with install.? Couldn't the rear SCV operate the 3rd function? Hopefully you'll see this comment. Thanks again. Charlie
Does isotunes make a product with a two way, communication feature? This video and others are starting to show how important it is to have great communication between the tractor operator and ground crew or other equipment operators.
I am trying to understand the reasoning for “pulling” those trees with a rope. Looks like they would fall clean with proper cuts and maybe a few wedges. Not trying to be one “one of those guys”! You know. The “keyboard” logger! lol Just wondering if I am missing something I could learn from.
Love this video. I’ll be doing the same work on my farm. My question is, does that JD have plenty of power for that job? I’m looking at the 3033r with a grapple and backhoe on it.
There are log weight calculators online. Tree falling is not an exact science. Wind can come up, tree can barber chair, etc. In a tug of war between your tractor & a 10,000 pound tree, the tractor loses.

Love your videos. Why not wheel weights instead of the heavy hitch for ballast? I am about to make a purchase and was thinking of using wheel weights + a box blade for ballast, is there an advantage to the heavy hitch over this combo?
Think of the rear wheel as the fulcrum of a see-saw. You want the weight behind the fulcrum to take the weight off the front axle and to keep the rear end down. Wheel weights help but you will need weight back behind the rear wheels otherwise the front axle becomes the fulcrum

3R is first real step up...4 is huge step up.
Maybe you should have two way radios between cutter and puller.
If you could get your hands on one a skid steer would be ideal for jobs like this. It would have more lifting power and be alot easier to maneuver.
looks like the auto connect isn't in the upr locked position or is that as far as it tucks up?
As far as it goes

What is the weight of the grapple in the configuration you're using it in in this video?
Not exactly sure off the top of my head. Each component’s weight is listed at artillian.com.
