@@box15c22 how is that they are cutting up small trees with the brush mower so there are wood chips already, and the chips will just decompose and return to nature anyway
That little John Deere has it's work cut out for it in those woods and is showing what it can do along with the other machine and Stihl chainsaw. I love using my JD 790 tractor and 513 bush hog for clearing the lawn and open woods on our property and this equipment is so well built like your's.
I’m the same way with our Ventrac, I get in and off so much, on flat land, going slow, why put on the seat belt? The best part about old tractors and vehicles, no seatbelts!
💥 Great demonstration of the Artillian system Tim. I’m working on editing one myself. I was really impressed with the front hoe bucket attachment! Keep on tractoring!
BTW, I give you a shout out in tomorrow’s episode. But I must warn you, it is with a bit of teasing about leaving your mower deck on while flail mowing. I’m doing round one of the BX/Deere comparison.
Looking forward to seeing it. I finally got a skid plate from bxpanded just in time to work at Yukon Acres. It’s a nice product but I can’t say I was too impressed with the service. It took a month to get to me with very delayed communication. No longer need the mower deck for protection. Keep on tractoring!
Hey Tim & Christy thanks for the great videos. You mentioned in the beginning of the video . That the trees were Ash. I’m not sure what the plan was for the felled trees. But I had a thought . Ash is used in furniture making . If the price is right . There be a recreational sawyer that could mill the logs . Wood turns may also be interested in getting some of wood as well. Just a thought . The home owner maybe up for .
Good video! I'm cleaning up and old logging road behind my house that's been overgrown for 20 years. I've been chain sawing 200 feet at a time. It's a lot of work, but it's worth it.
Great video! I have a similar set-up and always building new paths through the woods. I learn a lot of tips and tricks by subscribing to your channel. Before buying a new attachment I am able to get a good idea of how useful it will be prior to purchase which is huge. This particular video was right up my alley!
I would suggest you build guards around the hoses (watch Andrew Camarata's videos) to protect them in the future. Also it would be a good idea of having spare hoses, connectors, etc. on hand for repairs in the field.
That’s a lot of work. I have done that same kind of thing in the past. All by hand The tractors I have know definitely would have been a blessing if I would have had them 45 years ago. Great job to bad the hydraulic hoses cannot be shielded and still keep the modularity. Maybe pick up a spare hose for future needs.
Tim, I like the new tractor. I can see where little Johnny would have a hard time doing what Johnny 2 can do on this job. I'm thinking of purchasing a set of forks for my 1025 R. There are times when I could use it. Awesome job there Tim.
This a project I would gladly volunteer my hands for to make this stuff nice and pretty paths n I’d would love to be able to see Johnny and vinnie in use in person
Looked pretty scary when that tree broke. I've had a couple similar close calls. I appreciate that you left in the part where you said, "I knew I shouldn't do that..." same here. We need to learn to slow down just a tad.
That 2038R is a great machine. I've done some pretty heavy clearing with mine and pushed over some good sized trees. I've been considering a grapple but am doing fine with just forks and the bucket
Sending this to my dad, on the grapple. We've got close to 12 miles of trails to keep open in south-central IN, and it usually takes me on the 5320 and bush hog, and Dad following on the 4 wheeler with chainsaws. We have to saw stuff up small enough to physically move it out of the way, or occasionally use the forks, but I broke the Crappy designed JD fork frame a couple weeks ago, and had to cut the bent center support and reweld it. The only pin attachment that holds the shafts in place is on the center vertical support, which is a single, ungusseted piece of 1/4". You side load a fork enough to bend that center support or lose a single pin, that support (that is only welded on the weak side) bends and when the shaft moves inward like 1/2", it falls out of the outer frame, and twists the center support up. I'm going to tap both ends of the shaft and make some 1/4" thick washers on both ends to better capture the shafts, and reinforce the center with a square plate behind both of those vertical supports. I really expect better from Deere, honestly.
@@TractorTimewithTim Ah, that makes more sense. I know my Grandpa got the forks/bail spear at Haltom at the same time he got the tractor, but just assumed Deere made some of their more common attachments, like the bucket and forks. Oh well. I'll upgrade this one, then eventually get a grapple that will really do most of what we do around the tree farm.
At least it looks like on the current Frontier forks, they have gone with a single round bar across, and put that rectangle gusset across the center supports. I'd guess we aren't the only people who had trouble with the 2-bar, ungusseted design. The other forks that use that castle wall style forging like actual fork lifts, are definitely the way to go, IMO.
I've been bush-hogging a lot of 1-2" tree covered land lately with my mahindra 28hp with loader. Looks like the ventrac doesn't handle that stuff as easily or quickly as a pto spinning 100lbs. of blades. I also prefer to be ahead of what I'm shredding so I don't hit big stumps or rocks as much. And if something happens I can look through the 3 point hitch to see the problem.
