The booklet that you mentioned about this build also mentions the need for a 'flipped' bamboo belly being added after tiller to prevent string follow. It would be a headache trying to do that and it seems you have a shooter without it.
@@chrispegg6547 I actually added it when I glued up the riser… there are several things that I did that weren’t quite in keeping with the way Howard actually built his bows or according to the book. I’ll be reviewing and explaining a lot of that stuff in an upcoming video.
Nice work! I'm about to attempt a self bow build out of a persimmon stave. Any thoughts? Ever worked with persimmon? I will cut the tree and fire harden the belly of the bow blank on the same day.
@@garybill5210 I’ve never worked with Persimmon… I’ve seen guys produce bows from freshly cut staves in just days… How quickly are you intending to have your bow shooting..?
@@konradsusiebakalarczyk267 No trapping at all. However the tips are reduced significantly on all corners to the degree that they are almost cylindrical for about the last 6-8"

Shooting will take a few days due to tillering and letting bow acclimate after firing to a low moisture content.
@ sounds like a good plan. Good luck! I’d love to hear how it turns out!
If I may be so bold, on your next program - could you compare and contrast this current bow with the ASL Fiberglass bow you recently finished?
@@Todd_Father_ as much as I would love to do that, the fiberglass bow was sent to its new home upon completion…
Nice work. How wide did the tips end up at the string nock?
@@konradsusiebakalarczyk267 right below the string nocks measures 3/8”
Did you trap to the belly?

. . . definitely quieter.
@@knolltop314 yep! The slightest reduction in mass at the tips has a profound effect on function…
