I have never cared about Competitive TF2 but watching this has really changed my mind. Or maybe its just the Team?
You should look into Fresh Meat Cup on ETF2L (Europe) or TF2CC Newbie Mixes (NA), if you're interested. If you live elsewhere, you should also consider moving.

Salty for the love of god PLEASE never stop making these. I started watching you when I played OW consistantly, but I stopped playing at all since OW2. But I kept watching your videos because I really enjoyed your content, humor, and friends.
Now I only ever play TF2, and seeing these videos brings my heart so much joy that my fave funny man on the screen also loves the silly hat trading game that I also love so dearly.

Phish swapped to a knife that blends well with his playstyle, and he's lowered how often he disguises as scout
Now he's just gotta stop uncloaking in the middle of the open next to people and the comments will be happy

Disguising as scout is honestly the meta, his model is so low to the ground that spy’s actual head hitbox is nowhere near the scout’s

20:19 - might have died might have not but the first rocket would not have killed from that distance if you where at 42 and not 17
21:03 - this meat probably doesn't kill you at 74 hp? but you wouldn't have even reached them without the big earner
21:54 - the mini might have got you anyway?
23:33 - probably would have lived here with 15hp with the pack behind you
27:40 - I think 70 hp lives here? but its a very close thing
29:03 - your med took very little here maybe controversial but i think this was only about 35 damage and you would have lived
36:06 - I'm guessing this was about 110 from one sticky?
38:59 - one pipe!
41:14 - one rocket!
48:39 - I think you would have still died here but I'm noting it because it would have kept the heavy distracted for half a second longer and there was a slim chance you live
It did give you a few good kills and maybe won your game 7 but still probably not worth 10 extra deaths?
It's also worth considering that it's not so easy to simply say "you wouldn't died here" since we don't really know what would happen in those situations if he was using the stock knife. The Big Earner's downside definitely can be severe depending on your playstyle, but I don't think looking at specific examples of you dying while using it is a good way of determining which knife to use. You're better off just using both for a few games and seeing which one you do better with on average.

@BoaConstuctor and what of the times that the speed boost saved his life not by killing more but by zooming out? I can think of a few of those but don't feel like finding timestamps
a donjon is a real thing and was the proto form of a dungeon but instead of a basement it was a tower, same idea with both only having one exit.

@@literalist. The Big Earner lowers your HP down to 100. which is perfect for Demomen and Soldiers which do about 100 damage. It's only good if you're actually careful with it
@@literalist. The knife Phish equips (called the Big Earner) reduces his max health by 25 points making Spy's health go from 125 to 100. All the timestamps I gave are examples where Phish would have survived if he had that 25 extra health. Pipes from demoman do exactly 100 damage. Sniper uncharged bodyshots to 50 damage so 50+50 = 100 damage. Soldier with max ramp up can do up to 112 damage. Notice how all of these damage thresholds are 100 or above, but all below 125. Also notice how in every situation he had good enough positioning to escape if he survived one extra hit. There were a couple other moments I didn't count because he was in a bad position and probably would have died regardless of the extra health.
The Big Earner isn't that bad, I'd say Spy's knives is one of the best balanced weapon slots in the game. But, I think the Big Earner is slightly overrated and that stock is the best choice by just a little. If a Spy runs a Big Earner in a casual match they will do just fine.

I wonder if Phish learns that big earner gives speedboost on butterknife too EDIT: Not that I think there's a LOT of good times to try to do a butterknife over just more guns but Going For It when the speedboost could assist in an escape, kill, or other mobility.

Does anyone know why they always crouch at the beginning of each round?
To allow Medic heal Demoman more easily since he takes more damage when he jumps.Hence the crouching.
Certain classes like Demoman and Soldier utilize blast jumping to get to mid fast. This causes self-damage, so it's important to overheal the demo and then the soldier at the start of every round. By having the whole team crouch excluding the Demo, Soldier, and Medic, it makes it easier for the Medic to target the Demo and Soldier without accidentally healing someone like Scout who does not need overheal to do rollouts.
I feel like I've missed out by never playing this game when I watch you guys play this

Phish, the big earner is good for chain stabs *on pubs*, not in comp where you'll get called out instantly. All you're doing is dropping under health thresholds for no benefit (since enemies drop ammo box on death so the cloak regen isnt useful), and the speed boost only helps if you damage surf or manage to cloak in first place without being oneshot

Big earner is pretty good I'm gonna be honest. Health threshold doesn't mean much when the spy can close the distance in a 3rd of the time he would normally need after a stab

I really disagree, the speed boost allows him to chain stab *even though* he is getting called out just bc he does it all so quickly and in a straight line.
Yeah as good as the big earner is, that 25 less health is a killer
But i dont think he could've done the 3 kill play on point that won the round for them on stock
@azechase6597 true, but he would of had more uptime with stock, so even though he wouldn't of been able to make that game winning play, maybe he would of stayed alive more and dropped more priority targets, winning the game in the long run without needing to do the clutch play in the first place
Why do they crouch at the beginning of the round? Like in those few seconds before the rollout they always crouch and I'm not sure if it's an in-joke, a ritual for good luck, or if it does something like prevent the glitch that stops you from moving for the first few seconds of the round?

Honestly why are snipers allowed to run the razorback?
Because the idea is that by using the Razorback, Sniper is much less threatened by Spy, in exchange for being far more vulnerable to the Sniper v Sniper matchup (no overheal) and the Pyro v Sniper matchup (Not the Danger Shield, so afterburn is a massive pain). I don't think it should exist period, but the logic appears somewhat sound.
i almost forgot about no overheal downside because of casual (and not playing sniper), but yeah that's huge

As a spy main I've been pulling my hair out that he continues to use the stock knife, I just feel like almost every other knife does it's job better.

I don't watch much competitive TF2 so idk if it's just not something people do at higher level play, but is there a reason Phish rarely saps Engi's buildings? He spends so much time in the backline with few, if any, opponents around, why not take the opportunity to force Engineer off the front and make them take longer to spawn?
Pyro is deep inside engi's nest unless there is an uber to deny, its just not worth the risk. Instead its better to try to pick off stragglers trying to join the main fight, or at least waste their time going back to spawn to deal with him. If he is on the frontline and dies he is useless, if he is in the backline and dies at least he kept that enemy from pressuring his team for a while
If a spy saps an engineers building, the engineer will instantly know where the spy is at and call it out. sometimes its just more worthwhile to let a building live and keep your position unknown

@@seredahawke3207no bc spy has so little health he dies too quickly to really distract, and moves to fast and cloaks for chasing him down. Also if you notice when he does sap it's right when they want to take point and usually it's teleporter bc he just needs enough a delay synced with his teams push to take point. It's the only time it's worth it to make yourself known.
I dont play this game but why are there some characters he consistently shoots instead of stabbing?
The sniper had an item which made it impossible to backstab
The Sniper is using an item called The Razorback which stuns a Spy on a backstab and stops the kill, meaning that if the Spy wants to target Snipers (which is a huge part of his job), he will need to gun the Sniper down rather than attempt a stab twice. Most of the other gun victims are low health when Phish runs into them, so pulling out the gun is a safer bet to secure the kill.

phish PLEASE pull out your l'etranger when you cloak. It extends the time of cloak when held, not when equipped. Oh, and also letting the cloak bar deplete makes a louder uncloak noise.
That is such bullshit lol. L'etranger does extend cloak duration regardless of it it's being held out or not
