      Thanks Kevin. It stinks that we need to have more confidence just to live our daily lives, but it’s better to take action than cower in a corner. Stay safe!

    Hi Matt, I am confused, I have watched several of your videos and I find them very interesting and helpful, as I never used a cane for selfdefence. In some of your video's you say not to swing over your head to strike as it can be blocked. Now you are showing to strike overhead??

    • @pasquinilli
      @pasquinilli  2 года назад

      Thanks Gary. The concern is if you bring your arm away from your shoulder. It’s ok to strike over your head as long as you keep the arm in the vertical centerline of your body. I’ll add a better description in the next livestream.

    Thanks Matt. Watching the comparison between canes, my engineer brain has kicked in. The rattan cane is lighter due to materials of construction. However, I've been on the Cane Master's site, and noticed that the Dojo cane can be purchased in 7/8" diameter oak or hickory or 1" diameter oak or hickory. Not sure which diameter Dojo cane you are using here, but what are your thoughts on going to the 7/8" oak/hickory to save a little weight (for speed) as perhaps something in between the rattan and 1" diameter hardwoods? Or is it more important to have something that better fits size of your hands?Something too small might be harder to get a good grip on. (I realize the 7/8" hardwood loses some strength vs the 1".) I'm going to check the web sites to see if cane weights are listed. I do like the idea of having both.

      Thank you Scott. Your instincts are correct. The 7/8” is faster and if you choose hickory (in the video I am using 1” oak,) then you still have a heavy and sturdy cane that is faster and easier to handle because the diameter is smaller.

    Wondering if one can get a bit of 'extra' force when going for a balls strike from standing if you apply just a bit of down force on the cane before you do the strike, then lift the cane off the floor with that tension causing it to 'pop loose' and travel a little faster than a 'standing start' hit?
    Another idea, if you have someone yanking on your cane trying to take it, as they're pulling on it how about you step in and shove the cane body right into their teeth before you do the twist - strike?

      Yes. I think both would work. Good ideas!

    I have had Hapkido-- many years ago (one of my black belt arts 5th degree or higher ( I have 5 arts) but was in a BAD truck accident in 99 and after all these constantly painful years and NO practice-- my muscle memory is gone as is my conscious recall of much of that at all. I'm ready to do ACSD CANE-DO, are you in that? I heard you reference Cane-Masters--

    Speaking of cutting it with a knife. Wood scoring the cane down the side, be like makeshifting "notches" for (raking) in a self defense sitiuation?

    • @pasquinilli
      @pasquinilli  2 года назад +1

      Yes. That is a feature that works!

    Sir. What if the attacker is in a front stance with one leg forward and you don't have a good shot to the goain.
    Is there a different first shot.
