      Sorry for the delay in responding, it’s been a trying time for me. I have taken this reel on a bunch of trips so far and no need for any real maintenance other than freshwater wash down. I like the idea and might shoot a video taking it apart and doing a yearly maintenance task.

    I bought the 400 8:1 for musky fishing. after about 4 hours of casting musky lures (2-6oz), the gears inside started to make terrible grinding noises. It was really quiet for a little while but after about 3 hours, it became noisy, while casting and reeling in. the tensioner knob that ticked, doesnt tick anymore, to keep it from bird nest was tightened all the way up to max where i couldnt spin it anymore. I was getting bird nest after bird nest. So that broke as well as I couldn't control the spindle from spinning too fast when casting. Great looking reel but everything inside broke. I'll be returning it. Stick to my Abu, Daiwa and Okuma reels. thought i would give them a shot and it will be returned.

    • @clearwaterboating
      @clearwaterboating  8 месяцев назад

      Well it depends on your definition of large Amberjack! The biggest fish I have caught with this reel is around a 20 lb Bull Redfish. Buts it’s a different beast compared to a big AJ.
