He sounds down to earth and wise. Also he is not afraid to ask questions, adapt, brainstorm. It looks slow and basic because he is teaching the principles, position, rotation, relaxation, spiraling, rooting. Later as you do more and add to those, they give the support for power, speed, quality, balance. You are training muscle memory and alignment too. Around 16:00 when he is showing ‘wrong’ ways, you notice he is moving too much and focused on the shoulders and out-muscling the opponent. He is lifting his bong sau with the shoulder, instead of corkscrewing it forward . If you try both ways it feels way different, and the structure behind it is also far different. In the correct ways, you feel secure rooting and balance, but you focus on your elbows, hips, lats. Plus you use some spiraling or rotation and deflection to move the opponent. Sifu calls that ‘sliding leverage’ at times. Wing Chun emphasizes relaxation and touch, but don’t forget eventually to add speed, power, mobility and explosiveness to have all attributes.
Sifu Ben is great. I remember him and SiGung Ken Chung visiting Sifu Eddie Chong's Sunset Wing Chun classe in San Francisco in the early 80's. So true you know being a martial artist isn't just about fighting it's about a way of life and how you treat yourself how you treat your body and how you treat others I've been doing more sorts since I was five and I'm 55 years old and I studied Wing Chun and tight each one and then my teacher had a hapkido teacher and I learned hapkido in my early twenties after doing kung fu for 18 years and it's good to know different different styles there is no best it's the teacher in the individual and how hard you train I was fortunate where I trained in Chinatown in New York and trained under the same Federation yep man and I have to say when anytime I taught my students they taught how to be humble and how to heal with it yes if someone comes looking for trouble we will do what we need to do but it's about peace and harmony and it really will help you in your life and you're walking life that's the most important thing and I don't believe in belts and ranks cuz you're always learning and every time I told my students I learned something from them cuz every student is different and you have to learn to have patience because not every student can do the same thing as your other students some might have back problems some might have injuries some might lose focus so you you have to learn to balance and have patience and teach them right and I'm still learning I used to have a school years ago and now I just do it to myself and total my kids it is a way of life for me and I love doing Tai Chi Chuan with my hot keto and Wing Chun cuz a lot of wind Chun has Tai Chi Chuan moves you learn how to flow in them and you do tight she cuz it's very slow movement so you develop a lot of power and a lot of speed and technique and timing is everything or in the technique warn the timing and the speed will come my master always told me that technique technique get your timing and your speed automatically comes hapkido is the totally different system than the Kung Fu it has an offense and defense in locks so I I developed a system every system I teach is a full core system but I do have a combat system that it was designed for the street and I shorten the techniques so where you can flow Tai Chi into Wing Chung or wind Chung into Tai Chi right into hapkido locks and throw them break while they're in the air and you could break while they hit the ground and you don't let go see like in Jiu-Jitsu they throw their opponent use their own Force against yourself and help keto when you block I break when I throw you you're broke and when you come to the ground I don't let go if it's necessary but you don't have to do that but that's how how ketos taught in a lot of Choke outs Wing Chun is all trapping and blocking and I am Palm strikes and nerve damage and pressure points and crane techniques you know it has a lot of kung fu different systems in it too and Tai Chi to me there is no best but I think Tai Chi is one of the best forms to do cuz it relaxes your body it controls your blood pressure he can raise your heartbeat you could slow it down your fluid your woe to the ground you come up and you doing everything slow and you develop a lot of power so a lot of my students some just want to learn hapkido so what just teach them how keto but I would always make them do tai chi cuz it made their system so much better into fight against other systems so a lot of my friends had different styles that they taught and my students would get together and they would fight against different systems and aspiring way cuz when you fight in a ring and you fight in the street it's different so you have to learn to be able to get hit and be able to take a punch cuz if you can't take a punch or get hit it's not going to do you any good and no matter how much martial arts you learn if you're free to apply and use it when you have to it's not going to do you any good so you can't be afraid to use it you can't be afraid to apply it when it's necessary and you must never hesitate against your opponent so I used to teach the traditional systems but at the same time teach them a combat system designed for the street cuz there's a lot of people out there in the street that know how to fight I want to hurt people there's people that don't know martial artists that know how to fight really good and dirty in the street that could beat martial artist so you got to know how to get yourself if you get yourself in that situation so it's good to know different areas learn how to fight if you get knocked on the ground you need to know all these different systems I prefer not to be on the ground I like to take you out when you're standing up it's I feel it's not necessary to wrestle people on the ground but if you get knocked down you should always be able and be prepared and how to get yourself out of it so a lot of my students wanted to just learn self-defense so I would just teach them a combat system tight sheet and master Tai Chi would take you over 20 years you got to learn the forms you got to wearing your push and pull iron Palm strikes you got to have a full with your tea and yes it is an exercise but at the same time it is a deadly art and it was designed by a woman and it has every system in it so when Chung is my foundation and I love it but I love to do the Tai Chi with it he just benefits so much from it but everyone have a wonderful blessed day and continue to crush life and be blessed and be humble
That is a amazing martial art. I love Wing Chun, and a been practicing everyday for to understand and to lear more about soo and to defend myself from the bullying guys!!

I am so glad to see Sifu Ben still teaching......Great Sifu.......take good care Sifu Ben......all the best! ............Happy New Year.........from an old student of 1970's
This video is especially interesting for me due to my Uncle. He told me about training in martial arts when he got out of the Navy. (He ultimately died due to his service in Viet Nam) He told me about Arnold Swanziager m/s, and about a martial arts instructor who was close to Bruce Lee. This would of been in the early 70s. As I said, he's passed away now, so I can't ask him about this video. As a result of what he told me. I've always been interested in Jeet Kune Do (m/s?) I remember as a young boy. After my Uncle came back from California to live in Colorado. How massive his arms were. He was seriously into martial arts and weightlifting.

All you west coast people have the good stuff! I'm in Florida and never even saw any WC around my area...still not much! Kung fu seems wide spread in California
I have never referred to myself as a master either, I consider myself a teacher and a student. I believe we will never know everything therefore we continually learn grow and adapt as individuals. We strive towards perfection of ourselves and continue to learn as long as we continue to have an open mind.
Great video, my Sifu Loukas Kastrounis learnt from Wong Shun Leung and his student Nino Bernando in London. It’s amazing that the message is exactly the same, focus on the sensitivity. If you grasp that, it’s amazing how it adds to your fighting skills. Long live the IP man lineage 👍🏽

Budo Brothers no worries! Thank you for recording and preserving an important part of Wing Chun history. Both sifu Ben and Ken Chung rarely ever have anything online and it’s really nice to have such a lengthy video. If you like Wing Chun, you have to touch hands with sifu or any of their senior students at least once in your lifetime.
I would do boxing as a base before learning these two arts. I wouldn't feel safe in the streets with those techniques. That is just my opinion. Respect 💪
I trained WT about 4 years. stick hands if fun to learn and builds confidence ( maybe too much ) but frankly i feel id be better off just freestyle sparing with different styles

@@jacobharris954 by 1970 he has removed trapping and chi sao from the curriculum, and stopped doing it personally himself by 1968. JKD from 1967 to 1973 rapidity evolved into its own thing. He moved away from wing chun and focused more on boxing and fencing. Those are the two biggest components of late stage JKD. That is an objective FACT. You don’t know full story nor have you spent the time doing the research. You probably don’t even know what the progressive weapons chart is. You’re a casual fan at best. “As in boxing or fencing, JKD is a step by step project where every move must be repeated many times". Bruce Lee "The majority of people who practice Jeet Kune Do are mixed up, they think it should be a part of Wing Chun, a part of MMA, a part of Thai boxing, a part of wrestling, you know, a part of Wing Chun, which this is completely incorrect. You don't go from style to style, you go from distance to target or target to distance. Longest weapon to the nearest target and the most direct and efficient route possible, that is Jeet Kune Do." - Tommy Carruthers IFO JKD Founder
What is being said about Wing Chun being the core of JKD would be more true if Bruce had "finished" his Wing Chun training. He did not(chum kiu/biu gee)--nor did he finish his muk yan jong training.
WC was not the "Nucleus" of JKD. Bruce Lee allready trained different Kung Fu styles when he was in his youth in Hong Kong. He even trained boxing there and won a collage tournament in boxing. His JKD had a lot of Fencing, Boxing and Savate.
I like the video but I don't like the bald dude. I have negative chi coming from him. As a martial artist myself, to always trust your instincts. Replace the bald dude and replace him with me. I may not have the skills just yet but I do have hair and exceptional shape for someone who's 44yrs old. Also yes I can do the split. Like I said before I am a martial artist. My father is my first teacher. I lost track but back to the video. Much love and respect sir. Also I sense and feel great positive energy from you. Thumbs up. I enjoy the video.
Nope, FMA is the nucleus of JKD or else Mr Lee would have just named it Wing Chun plus. Wing Chun rarely adapt other styles but the soul of FMA welcome and adapt other styles. The history of Philippines alone consist of multi-colonist. That is why China took years to accept JKD. This one of the reason Mr Lee get challenge ALL the time fighting his OWN people.
Chi Sau is the basis for modern Wrestling drills. Get deep enough into JKD which is way passed the Wing Chun and JKD weapons fighting will destroy MMA fighters with a weapon in their hands.

can flow Tai Chi into Wing Chung or wind Chung into Tai Chi right into hapkido locks and throw them break while they're in the air and you could break while they hit the ground and you don't let go see like in Jiu-Jitsu they throw their opponent use their own Force against yourself and help keto when you block I break when I throw you you're broke and when you come to the ground I don't let go if it's necessary but you don't have to do that but that's how how ketos taught in a lot of Choke outs Wing Chun is all trapping and blocking and I am Palm strikes and nerve damage and pressure points and crane techniques you know it has a lot of kung fu different systems in it too and Tai Chi to me there is no best but I think Tai Chi is one of the best forms to do cuz it relaxes your body it controls your blood pressure he can raise your heartbeat you could slow it down your fluid your woe to the ground you come up and you doing everything slow and you develop a lot of power so a lot of my students some just want to learn hapkido so what just teach them how keto but I would always make them do tai chi cuz it made their system so much better into fight against other systems so a lot of my friends had different styles that they taught and my students would get together and they would fight against different systems and aspiring way cuz when you fight in a ring and you fight in the street it's different so you have to learn to be able to get hit and be able to take a punch cuz if you can't take a punch or get hit it's not going to do you any good and no matter how much martial arts you learn if you're free to apply and use it when you have to it's not going to do you any good so you can't be afraid to use it you can't be afraid to apply it when it's necessary and you must never hesitate against your opponent so I used to teach the traditional systems but at the same time teach them a combat system designed for the street cuz there's a lot of people out there in the street that know how to fight I want to hurt people there's people that don't know martial artists that know how to fight really good and dirty in the street that could beat martial artist so you got to know how to get yourself if you get yourself in that situation so it's good to know different areas learn how to fight if you get knocked on the ground you need to know all these different systems I prefer not to be on the ground I like to take you out when you're standing up it's I feel it's not necessary to wrestle people on the ground but if you get knocked down you should always be able and be prepared and how to get yourself out of it so a lot of my students wanted to just learn self-defense so I would just teach them a combat system tight sheet and master Tai Chi would take you over 20 years you got to learn the forms you got to wearing your push and pull iron Palm strikes you got to have a full with your tea and yes it is an exercise but at the same time it is a deadly art and it was designed by a woman and it has every system in it so when Chung is my foundation and I love it but I love to do the Tai Chi with it he just benefits so much from it but everyone have a wonderful blessed day and continue to crush life and be blessed and be humble
What a treasure! Thank you for sharing the video, and the way.
Very good explanation n demonstrations, Sifu Ben Der is really good teaching Wing Chun.
One thing I like about sifu Singh is he's very humble, sees the beauty in all arts.
That is a amazing martial art. I love Wing Chun, and a been practicing everyday for to understand and to lear more about soo and to defend myself from the bullying guys!!
Remember DerSifu, back in the ‘70&’80s 😮 glad he still around 😊
😮 that was great. The best life lesson is yes, my dear. I am from San Francisco from the man by family. Been studying over 20 years. And my family’s been new martial arts Chinese martial arts for a few thousand years. I enjoyed that stuff I was awesome.
Sensational video! I'm a big fan of Wing Chun. It's the best style of Kung Fu.🇧🇷
A good teacher is a delight to be around and if they have a skill (as this man does) thats great too.
I am so glad to see Sifu Ben still teaching......Great Sifu.......take good care Sifu Ben......all the best!
............Happy New Year.........from an old student of 1970's
He’s a LEGEND! Was such an honor to capture him in his essence. Would love to film more with him 🙌🙏
@@BudoBrothers Thank you Budo Brothers for doing a such good job on the Videos,

I didn’t know that band was still together. Everybody Have Fun Tonight!
Awsome video. I'm glad this video is on youtube. What state is this video from?
This was filmed in California 🤙
Peace
I think it is dope how at one point in the video the sun rays were shining on Sifu Ben Der.
current Group , fkbook, wc Fresno , Ca , from class of 1990, black , local tourney king , and lop sau competition ( hard core) ..... so much love for KEN and BEN ......
All you west coast people have the good stuff!

1 thing we need to learn while learning martial art 'HUMILITY' !
梁相師父👍👍👍👍👍
I have never referred to myself as a master either, I consider myself a teacher and a student. I believe we will never know everything therefore we continually learn grow and adapt as individuals. We strive towards perfection of ourselves and continue to learn as long as we continue to have an open mind.
Great video, my Sifu Loukas Kastrounis learnt from Wong Shun Leung and his student Nino Bernando in London. It’s amazing that the message is exactly the same, focus on the sensitivity. If you grasp that, it’s amazing how it adds to your fighting skills. Long live the IP man lineage 👍🏽
Thanks for sharing!
@@mightymeatmonsta must you comment on every single wing chun video on all of RUclips, insulting every other lineage?
I maintain good relationships with senior members of your family, and they've seen your comments. Suffice to say some of them are not happy with how you are comporting yourself and how you represent Cheung's Wing Chun.
Take a page from Sisukgung Phil Redmond's book; he is a closed door disciple of Sitaisukgung William Cheung, and he is nothing but respectful to other branches, especially those of Cheung's Sihing like Leung Sheung, Chu Shong Tin, Lok Yiu, et al
Having sensitivity is great, but only works well when you know the ENTIRE SYSTEM!
@@ISZAudio ALL TRADITIONAL systems except for Wong Shun Leung, but all these systems work well on the streets, unlike laughable Leung Ting's system (by far, the WORST WING CHUN SYSTEM!!), and Moy Yat's system, which are extremely flawed and stiff!!
Assalamu'alaikum Mr ❤❤
Thanks for sharing!
Ben may not have learned for very long under Leung but he certainly picked up the essence.
you guys and your ideas.. to funny , Leung = china , ken world wide fighter master 10G $$ for ken to go to your school and demo ,. ben = SF ca ........leung died many moons back , what your seeing is KEN , and his best friend is ben.....
All these easy and tiring movements force the human mind to remember many schemes, those defense and attack procedures!
Great stuff !
Where can i meet sifu ? ❤

Anyone know if Hawkins Chung and Moy Yat learned directly from Yip Man?
I only know for sure Moy Yat did.
Both of them learned directly from Grandmaster Yip Man
I was very into wing chun wen I was young I had a neck injury that left my spine in almost the same position as reives and was told if I got in a pillow fight I could end up a Quan pearlized neck down so I took 20 yrs off but I accidentally fixed my neck with a traction machine lol and I been getting back into things at 40
I think you meant Sifu Ben Der in the title.
Thanks I fixed it. Great catch.
Budo Brothers no worries! Thank you for recording and preserving an important part of Wing Chun history. Both sifu Ben and Ken Chung rarely ever have anything online and it’s really nice to have such a lengthy video. If you like Wing Chun, you have to touch hands with sifu or any of their senior students at least once in your lifetime.
notice when 師父 says thank you his hand gesture is not five-lake-four-sea
only bad thing about the video is the camera man. how can you not film the legs if he is showing thing below the hip`???
Good

Real master.
I would do boxing as a base before learning these two arts. I wouldn't feel safe in the streets with those techniques. That is just my opinion. Respect 💪
It is. 💯💥😉
28:46 ~ 28:54 step three of chi sao (no fun without sitting horse chuo ma)
I trained WT about 4 years. stick hands if fun to learn and builds confidence ( maybe too much ) but frankly i feel id be better off just freestyle sparing with different styles

It’s not the nucleus of JKD. In the beginning, sure but JKD is more about detachment than sticking or sensitivity.
Bruce Lee was a wing chun student and teacher, that is fact
Bruce Lee
"The majority of people who practice
Jeet Kune Do are mixed up, they think it should be a part of Wing Chun, a part of MMA, a part of Thai boxing, a part of wrestling, you know, a part of Wing Chun, which this is completely incorrect. You don't go from style to style, you go from distance to target or target to distance. Longest weapon to the nearest target and the most direct and efficient route possible, that is Jeet Kune Do."

What about the back fist and 1 inch punch
Nope, FMA is the nucleus of JKD or else Mr Lee would have just named it Wing Chun plus. Wing Chun rarely adapt other styles but the soul of FMA welcome and adapt other styles. The history of Philippines alone consist of multi-colonist. That is why China took years to accept JKD. This one of the reason Mr Lee get challenge ALL the time fighting his OWN people.
Ha ha ha Always Happy much luck
Seems to me the JKD instructor has a lot of training to do
Would like to see Wing Chun face off a boxer
A true authentic MMA fighter will hurt this old man
Chi Sau is the basis for modern Wrestling drills. Get deep enough into JKD which is way passed the Wing Chun and JKD weapons fighting will destroy MMA fighters with a weapon in their hands.
Jesus. Why would anyone want to hurt an old man?
This looks more like a discipline or an art than an actual fighting skill cause nobody fights like that in real life
If sifu was younger he'd whoop ol baldy

The bald guy's WC is more like "be like concrete"...not "be like water.
there is no way a person training this way can win in a fight there is not enough bloodlust to be practiced
