I’ve never seen that done but it seems the most natural and simple way to extract small amounts of comb. Thank you for sharing that demonstration.
Also I love the compassionate and caring way you speak of the bees, not wanting to waste the honey since they worked so hard to produce it. What a beautiful comment. I’m sure their Maker is pleased also. 😊🥰
Thank you so much for the kind words!
That was pretty interesting. Thank you for sharing with us.
So happy you enjoyed it!
As always I enjoy watching your videos...
Awesome!
Thanks for sharing your experience, small quantities normally I use my mashed potato press for the wax to hurry up the process , but still filtering the honey afterwards before bottling.
Potato press is a good idea! I’ve always been one to prefer my hands, so that’s just a go-to for me. :)
every video something new
The music was not my thing so watched the video without sound. We did buy the screen and a bucket so next spring will try this, thanks.
Was the music too loud? I've been trying to zero in on how it sounds on TVs or phones
@@RascalApiary It wasn't too loud it was mearly distracting since I don't care for music that is not to my taste. My apologies for being honest....
Music is not needed for your videos, your content is enough. But if YT pays providers to add music then please ignore my comment. Thanks for listening and see you on your next video, cheers.
No reason to apologize. Honesty is what I look for. YT doesn't pay for the music I just added it to fill some of the soundlessness areas of the videos. Good feedback! Thank you!
@@RascalApiary We all have our ways and being older I'm set in them I guess, lol. Today I seem to irritate so many people but then I'm not skilled in socializing, it's awkward actually, probably why.... But really appreciate the way you handled my comment, very professional I may say, and look forward to all your future videos, cheers!.
What do you do with the capping of the honey after it drains I know all the honey doesn’t drain out ?
After we finish straining, we process the wax. We put all the callings and a bit of water into an old crockpot. The water with honey remnants is used to water plants or the compost bin. You could use it for a natural sweetener in coffee or tea though. I’ve heard of others who do that.
When you do crush and strain method, how much time do you need to be mashing it in the top for it to go down and flow down overnight?
I'm doing this now but surprised at how thick the honey is and how much time it takes.
Is it enough to just let it drip down over the next 24 hours? How much estimate of elbow grease do you need to do to so that it will really drip down and not take a month?
It is a lot of work. But I love the smell. I wouldn't have noticed the smell so much if I hadn't done it myself. The smell is so amzing.
I crush it all until I know all the cells have been opened. It’ll depend on how much comb you’re using, but shouldn’t take more than 10-20 minutes to crush. Then, I typically leave it overnight covered. In the morning I’ll move the comb around (think mixing) just to make sure all the edges get a chance to be moved. I’ll leave it again the rest of that day. By that night, it should be all out. Good luck! It’s really the best smell!
