Yes done Chalkpit lane many times as my commute home when I worked in Oxted 👍, have you tried Syccombes hill , Bug hill or White Hill all in East Surrey 👍👍
I have done all of them yes!!! There’s just something about Chalkpit for me that makes it harder, possibly the length but the way the cars hit it up there is uncomfortable too, maybe that’s why!? Thanks Nicholas 👍👍
Kudos to all three of you, especially to Mike. I more than understand what he's been through and it's absolutely fantastic to see that he's riding so well so soon after his accident. Can't wait for more climb vids.
Thank you 🙏, honestly what he’s done is so impressive, particularly in such a short space of time and really quite inspiring. Those climbs are coming don’t you worry hahaha 👍👍
That looked tough indeed, but nicely done by all concerned. A really touching story by Mike and it shows his strength of character. Glad he's making good progress. Not done Chalkpit, but I should do at some point 😢😂 Chapeau to you all 👍🙏
Thanks Anthony, honestly Mike is a trooper, really impressed with his determination to get back on the saddle, inspiring actually!! Go do Chalkpit, it’s horrendous 🤣🤣🤣
Haha you lured two more victims up my favourite hill, well done to both of them! Mike's recovery is beyond impressive, that accident sounded horrendous. I thought/hoped bar ends were supposed to prevent injuries like that. Like Mike I've always been wary about group riding because if one person goes down there's a decent chance you'll go down as well. So now the probability of coming a cropper = the probability you screw up all by yourself and hit the deck + the probability of anyone else screwing up and hitting the deck.
Thanks to you yes!!! Hahahaha they loved it really. Honestly Mike has done so well in such a small amount of time, he’s got right back to it. The crash was horrific to be honest, so even psychologically getting back on must have been really hard. I agree with your outlook, I can’t think too much about that stuff otherwise It would stop me doing it hahaha. Cheers Mallard, as always 👍👍
Brace yourself, make sure you’ve fuelled and just remember the hardest section is at the very end so leave some in the tank hahaha, you’ll smash it 🤟🤟🤟
Hi Andrew, a company called magicshine gifted them to me to try out actually. They are actually really comfortable and work too. Give me a shout on instagram if you need any more information and thanks for watching too 🤘👍
Have you crossed off Quell Lane yet? (“119 Quell Lane” off Simon Warrens list) I personally found that to be the hardest climb I’ve tackled in Surrey. My Garmin recorded 29% gradient at one point on Quell lane, it’s not the longest climb but the ramps are savage and when you think you’re over the hard part it kicks again, a right savage
Hi Craig, Quell lane isn’t in the 60 south east England climbs, I think it’s in the top 100 uk climbs?! I just checked it and it said max gradient of 15%?? Have I looked at the wrong segment?? I’m deffo going to check it out now regardless haha
@@therookiecyclist hi mate, I did reply, but my comment has disappeared may be because I included a link to the Veloviewer segment… but you’re probably looking at the right segment it’s suggested to max out at 15.4% on VV, 22% on Simon’s “another 100 climbs” list but I still think these are underplaying it a bit. Unless my comment magically reappears, I will reiterate I’m very keen to hear what you make of it! Just south of Haslemere upto Blackdown, definitely one to tackle on a dry day as the road surface would be treacherous in wet/cold conditions
Chalkpit Lane, love it, it is brutal, but so feels so good to make it to the top.
100% agree on that, plus the cake stop 🍰 🤘

Have you tried The Old Bec cycling club hill climb lane off Botley Hill can’t remember what it is called
@@nicholasfulford209Yes I think that’s white lane, brutal but short? That one??
Mike's recovery is amazing! Confession that I replayed the cake stop twice.
That doesn’t surprise me Bill haha, good effort!! Mike is an absolute trooper, he’s got right back to it, very impressive!!
It looks brutal, well done Ben.
Nice one Jed, get yourself down there 🤣🤣

Bro, my legs were burning watching you tackle that 20% portion of the climb! Looked absolutely brutal. Well done!! 👊
🤣🤣 cheers Martin, honestly it’s horrible but the coffee stop saved the day!!! Thanks man 🙏
I wil be joining you again once I am back from my trip 🙂
Promises promises 👀

Hi, thanks for the vids - great entertainment. Quick question, what sunglasses are you wearing ?

Thanks Benjamin I’ll check them out. They look really good, and suit the Airbreaker I also wear.
Keep up the vids, they’re great 👍

And bro ! CHALKPIT LANE IS THE WORSE! haha
Have you done it???!???
@@therookiecyclist haha yah.. With an 8xspeed bike 😂
I hear you, I did it on my winter boadman, 8 speed and heavy as f, still loved it though 😉 😂
You rode so close to my house. You also rode past a harder climb, all be it much shorter. Succombs Hill. More scope for stroppy drivers too.
I know Succombs, I’ve done it but……..I don’t think it is harder haha, maybe I need to hit it again Andy?? I’ll give you a knock next time mate 🤣🤣
Agreed
Done it twice and it’s disgusting
🤣🤣🤣🤣
The bigger question on everyone’s lips…. Is mikes bike ok? 👀👀 sorry not sorry
Haha nooo, needs to be replaced mate, the only thing that was ok was the rear derailleur oddly enough haha
