I’m 70 in 2 weeks and still keen on learning to fly and get my PPL here in New Zealand. Being retired I now have the time (kinda!) and means to tick this off my Bucket List Thanks for this sensibly graduated introduction to flying. Best I’ve come across on RUclips
Hello! Hope your doing well! Iam also living in New zealand as a student and starting to start my ppl journey soon, do you know which way will be great to get my ppl? Is it good to get it through UNI or is it good to get it through air flight clubs? Thanks in advance
@@wisdom._.whispers. It depends on what your aviation goals are. Are you looking to receive a four-year degree? They are not required to work for the airlines but can help. It is your flight experience that matters the most.
I’m leaving the corporate world behind with the goal to eventually go air taxi, as well as fly missions for charity, if possible. In short, I’m just now getting started like you. Good luck!
Enjoyed this video and I am so happy you didn’t drown it all out with loud music. No music at all is just how I like informative videos, then I can hear what you’re saying and don’t get distracted trying to concentrate with annoying "music"
Thank you so much for this video! I'm getting ready to take my O&P exams for my mechanic's airframe certificate and I did horribly in my Nav/Comm class. This helped me out so much in being able to identify antennas. Thanks!!!
I just discovered your channel this morning and subscribed immediately. Hope one day to fly into Oshkosh, a few years away most likely. But after watching EAA's Ultralight/Homebuilt Arrival webinar last night I was motivated to start learning as much as I could before starting pilot training.
Thanks for watching, I appreciate you! I'm excited for you to start your aviation journey- Here is a link to our Private Pilot Ground School to prepare you for your training! learn.fly8ma.com/courses/premium-private-pilot-ground-school/
Really great videos. I’m using them as a refresher now that I’m studying for my commercial. It’d be great if you produced some CPL oriented videos, like explaining the engine components of a complex engine or how a constant speed prop works. Anyway, thanks for your hard work!
We'll have more commercial and CFI material being released to our website soon. Be sure to sign up for our email list on fly8ma.com to keep up with when things are released.
It would have been nice to hear how each piece works even if it’s just a simple explanation. You did for some parts, but not others. #NotMechanicallyInclined
Hey uncle John. I’m fifteen and my dream is to become a commercial pilot and I want to take a discovery flight trying to know what to do and what not to do. Do you have any advices for me on how to be financially stable cause the flight school I’m tryna attend cost $240 per hour and it’s a part 141 flight school ? I just found your channel and subscribed. Thanks for the amazing videos.
I can't figure out how to get the free private pilot ground course on your site to work. I can take the quiz but never get any credit for going through the lessons and a few are broken. But these videos are GREAT
I’m 13 and I’m going for my Discovery Flight on Monday. Any advice? I have experience in simulators so I know a lot of the instruments within the Cessna 172 however it’s going to be a whole different deal in the Piper Warrior II.
So I’m just some random who likes aviation and I was wondering if every single one not leaving one part of included in every plane even the smallest of course you have the rudder on every plane but are some of the things here more common than the other or are some of the things on this plane specifically made for the plane so no other plane had it? Or does every plane have everything included in this video?
there is one thing that i did not understand. forward slip and side slip both almost the same(eilron into the wind and rudder opposite side). what is the difference?
Not trying to be rude but you say what everything is but someone new to flight has no idea what any of it means. A little explanation would be nice. Other than that I'm enjoying the videos, thanks!
At 8:45 you can see a small triangular shape part connected to the bottom of the vertical stabiliser (rudder)- can someone please explain to me what is that? And it’s purpose
That is the Vertical trim tab. This configuration is a ground adjustable trim tab. The fixed trim tabs are going to be bent to the right adding more parasitic drag to the right side of plane. It is there to help with left turning tendencies. Most larger aircraft have an vertical adjustable trim tab in the cockpit just like your horizontal stab would.
most of the aviation community pride themselves on making themselves look intelligent smart by complicating all the aviation stuff you in return demystify it all you boil it down to simple down to earth terms this is not complicated stuff aviation is common sense most of these people like to mystify everything you keep it practicalthey live in a theoretical mysterious complicated aviation world you know what I hate to take your inventory but you would make a great examiner a DTE and I always learn something from every video every single video you show I always pick up something I always get a takeaway from everything I understand why you didn't want to be in the airlines they're a bunch of robots
Localizer is combined up with the VOR antenna, glide slope is separate generally located somewhere on the plane where it will have a line of sight line to the glide slope antenna on the ground while on an ils approach.

Dude i'm so glad you show both airplanes. most people only show cessnas. i have been wondering where the hell the static port was on the warrior
Oh ok Warrior
I’ll rewind the video

Welcome aboard! heres a tip, do all of your ground work and take your written before you jump into an airplane.
Very good explanations, answered many of my questions. Thanks!
Very happy to help!
Thanks John ❤
Thank you so much for these videos! I really learn from them.
Quick question - Are the com antennas also called VHF antennas?
Awesome video! One-of-a-kind Skyhawk there, with Snow White on the engine cowling...
Lol, i guess someone really liked Disney.
Thank you so much my instructor was impressed
Thank you

6:00 I always wondered how the angle of attack alarm got triggered. You guys are great.
Love your videos!! So helpful. You should add playback speed so we can slow the vid down a bit sometimes to learn better.

There is a screw missing near the Air-Intake Opening for the Radios.
Thank you for making these videos.
Thank you. I learned alot. Very informative.
Glad it helps out! Be sure to share us on Facebook and around the airport with your aviation friends!
Will make another video, explaining what each thing you mentioned do, pretty please 🙏 ❤
Thanks. I love it although had a lot of information for one cession but it is great. I always love seaplane hope one day to fly one. Well done. Thanks
Greetings I have a question! This may be a silly question? Does instrument flying count toward pilot hours?
Excellent stuff bro
Glad you enjoyed it
This guy rocks! Too cool to learn all this! Thx!
Thanks for doing these. Looking all over to find the antennas. Could not find in C172 POH
I'm glad it helped ya!
Thanks for the great videoI 'm excited to start actually flying soon!
Very well explained thank you
Glad it helped!!
Great video 👍 Thank you
Great to the point video! Extra clear! Thanks.

great video from great people
Also also what's the max these instrument flying aircraft can go? Is it just under 10,000 ft?
Had doubts about the antennas. Thanks for the info
Love your content. Much appreciated!

Thanks fror the info..... much appreciated.
At 6:22 it looks like a paper clip stuck on the alternator bracket. What is that? Very informative video. Thanks.
very neatly explained.

Can you make it like things need to have and good to have in an airplane ? E.g. fuel inlet etc.
Thank you bro

yo u wanna talk im currently on my aviation journey, I spend a lot of time on flight simulator as well lol
I am learning how to navigate cross winds any pointers
Off to a good start. I bet there is a pressure washer around there someplace. Please use it more. The pump and engine need to be used every so often.
I would love to learn to fly, I drive semi trucks now

Check out our forward slip video on our channel and it will explain it to you :)
For the ingition switch, whats the purpose of left, right and both? Why isn't it just both?
Thank you!!!
I like it so far
Correction the bottom hole is your static port and that little hole is the drain hole.
Do u know any instructors from riverside airport
I'm screaming I NEED A SHIMMY DAMPNER next time I'm in Walmart 😂
Nice! What was the first plane? Why don't planes have mufflers?
Great detail!
I had never heard the term "gascolator" before, lol. Even though I've used them plenty!
More than excellent
Well explained exxcelent video
Did I see a handheld microphone in the Cessna 172?
U r the best
Loved your video
Some people here getting ready to start flight training meanwhile this is a required video in my 6th grade class
Probably private school. Rich kids always get the headstart in life.
@@listlessviewer153 No, it's a public school. I know. Weird.
Lucky you 👍🏾
Thanks for this video. I want to be a pilot when I get older.
may I ask how old are you
I'd love to start my training sir...
Go to fly8ma.com to start your ground school
The close caption calls it a P doped vane. Does it measure how doped up you are?
Please other plans explain
What is the altitude capacity on this?
What make and model is this aircraft?
That's a Cessna 172
@@fly8ma.comflighttraining199 Aha. 🙏🏻 The golden standard since, like 4eva. Most produced civil light plane.
Should an inoperable sticker be on the non working autopilot?
Yes! Good catch, its up to the owner, mechanic, and whoever is flying it to make sure it is before it flies.
Not trying to be rude but you say what everything is but someone new to flight has no idea what any of it means. A little explanation would be nice. Other than that I'm enjoying the videos, thanks!
I saw it said SRQ on your plane for a website. That’s my home airport!
Swing on down to VNC and say Hi!
FLY8MA.com Flight Training I might try to do that some time!
The Cherokee is just sooo much sexier than the ol' Cessna 1xx series...
Can u plz tell me where ATU 180L-3 is located in aircraft
What that an iPad mounted on the right side of the panel?
Yup
can you legally paint your own plane?
Other jet explain
And keeping airspeed at 80 while staying due east and need any pointers to help😅
Why do they call it a spinner?
Fully knowledge about parts of aircraft (like flap, elevator, rudder fuselage etc) SIR please make one or more than videos
But full information please
What do fuel sumps do?
why no static discharge wicks?

Why auto pilot does not work?
Broken :(
yeah m aviation
Lots of antennas on both airplanes, is there no localizer antenna or glide slope antenna on any of these airplanes?
Localizer is combined up with the VOR antenna, glide slope is separate generally located somewhere on the plane where it will have a line of sight line to the glide slope antenna on the ground while on an ils approach.
Why planes not use gas as a fule , it will help to reduce it's weight
Pressure tanks for "gas" weigh far more than any savings over a liquid fuel.
