Haha. I’m sure that’s in the manual as one of the “breaking in” techniques 😂. Watched your episode on cbc yesterday regarding the maple syrup. Great piece. Think I’ll try some birches
Very cool! I've got the same winter sleeping bags as the first ice hut with the two brown ones, they're awesome and warm! Love Fiskars axes, gotta get me a saw next. Thanks for the video!
Cant think of a better way to break in that Scandic and enjoy the countryside. Appreciate you sharing this Chuck. Always a pleasure to watch and I particularly like the ingenuity for improvements (toboggan bracing, etc) being shared. Climbing two mountains was no small feat and yes the hands will shake from gripping so hard:)
Just rolled 1000 kms on it. Was going to get it serviced at 500 (recommended), but didn’t want to lose the prime travel time. Will get it down very soon tho
Looks like a blast buddy. Sure hope there's more snow next season. This brown grass and rock mixed with marsh mud isn't the greatest for the sliders...even with scratchers down lol.
Great video!! Love the adventures in Labrador!! We would do little day trips like that when we were kids with dad. Was so much fun just to go and do nothing in particular! Our old skidoos in the 80/90s didn’t need ice to flick up, I don’t remember that being a worry. Then again I was a kid, so I had no worries 😂 Cindy Mac.
What a great video to watch with a morning cuppa tea! I absolutely love the vastness and beautiful scenery of Labrador, the solitude and peacefulness of being able to jump on a "ski doo" or quad in your backyard and just go must be so satisfying. Definition of an explorer, like yourself... To always wonder what's over the next ridge. I find ice fishing to be my most favorite activity during the winter and I found that part of the video even relaxing without a catch. Looking forward to the next virtual adventure with you, thanks for taking us along.
Chuck another great video, I have the same sled as you got 900 Ace with the 24 inch track, they are a beast in the snow. I noticed a few alter scratches on your sled (we call them newfoundland pin stripes ) I purchased a product called G3 or as some people refer to it as a new bike in a can. I wiped down my sled with a damp cloth and then when it dried I sprayed G3 on all the plastic parts and the sled is show room condition, beautiful product. Thanks for providing me with the amazon link for the bungie straps, I received them already , too late to use them on my sled so I put them in my SxS i'm sure they will come in handy. Have a great one, looking forward to your next video.
Hey Chuck! Im so jealous! Words can't express how much I would love to be there with you guys . Thats the type of trip I like. Not a race just go along at your own pace and enjoy the views. Nature has so much to share. Those rings around the sun, old farmers i was around as a kid said that was a sign of precipitation, rain or snow. You'll see rings around the moon as well which means the same. A storm a brewing. Lol.
Great video buddy , great day in the great outdoors with friends and family. The mountains and country is beautiful in Labrador, thanks for the shout out and sharing this video! All the best my friend
Another scratcher trick commercial fisherman in my area drill hole on angle facing to back of snowmobile in the back of your ski and put bolt through with a nut and lock washer. Happy travels✌️
Others have mentioned that and I’m just wondering how it would affect steering….especially after a long day…would it tire the arms more…that kinda thing
@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors I have done it on my work machine and not noticed any difference. Where you need to be aware is backing up down ramps etc.. it may catch. Only use a bolt long enough to touch the ice.
🎉🎉🎉 Thank you Chuck Looks like you had some amazing weather during filming this. Absolutely beautiful 🤩. I’m still working on getting my channel going but I think that I’m just scaring myself out of it. Did you have any hesitations before your very first video? Did you know what direction you were going for? Did you make several first videos before putting it online? I’m pretty sure that I’m just overthinking this process. Thank you Chuck and God Bless,Carlos
I started my first video because I wanted to learn how to upload a video so I could teach my son. It was his idea originally. I found it relaxing and rewarding then, and I still do today. You get better at editing, find little tricks. My time is very early in the morning with a coffee. Very relaxing.
Another great video!! We sure do miss the Big Land on days like this! I remember waiting on the Esker road for what seemed like an hour for the caribou to cross!! Times have changed
I almost had my neck muscles worn out looking back and forth at the mountain tops…fully expecting to see the animals like I did for all those years. Would be nice to see again. Population is on the rise again but will take a long, long time.
Great video Chuck , great day ice fishing but as we all know it ain't about the fish it's always about spending time in the woods especially with family and friends. What a view from the top of that mountain definitely worth the climb. Never heard of that dish liquid trick before have to keep that in my back pocket lol. The view from the second hill was even better especially on a day like that.
That was some wild climbing, I remember going along with some buddies into a trout lake in the mountains and rolling over my sled was a big concern for me and them At that time I was not able to wear a Prothetic leg so standing on hill side of running boards was quite difficult, and I probably only weighed 115 lbs.but as usual my buddies would walk beside me a short distance at a time and get me there safe and sound. Yup, NO Trout, but a adventure I never forget. Thanks for sharing these awesome adventures.
We were a little rushed to get my machine ripped back over on its level and back on track, but I should have filmed my friend who literally stood on my ski (upper side of mtn face) as I got it faced by up the hill. Would have shown a great technique for anyone in the same situation Tks bud for the reflection on your part
Amazing scenery . Yea you really need ice scrapers for the slides and cooling too . Well i have extra fan and cooling unit on my Lynx 49 Ranger 900 ace . I always remove my windshield when exploring the woods . And when setting out the salt stones for the moose . We do that as part of animal management in our area . All hunting teams are doing that on their areas . I hope you get some more nice weekends before its to wet and soft to drive . Have a great sunday and week after . /Thomas, Sweden
I thought the same thing. Don’t think you’d ever get up there during “regular” snow conditions though. Maybe if you had a bunch of fellas and couple chainsaws
Not to shaby at all. Nice adventures on the land. Brings me back to the time I spent teaching in Makkovik. Every Sat., we were off to some place. All the best from the Avalon.
Awesome video no one can say u babys your machines lol riding or rocks and boulders. Glad u got a new sled, i have a 2020 expedition and been fighting to keep slides on it. I can't wait to see little tricks u do with your sled so i cant try them
Yes thats correct the studs also tear up the hard snow which i find do the same as scratchers , I had mine done at tire shop for 100 dollars.@@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors
Re ice scratchers Some people have been successful by installing one carbide track stud right in the rear of each ski… This gives enough snow to lubricate the sliders.
You said one of the highest mountains in Labrador. That would put you up in the Torngats? I see the Muskrat Falls transmission lines in the back ground? are you in western Labrador or out near the coast.
We ate actually north of Wabush and very close to the Quebec border. It was the highest mountain in this particular piece of country. It seemed like you could see indefinitely
No. The expedition is. But if you take a peek at this video it explains why I bought the skandic: MY BRAND NEW SKIDOO - FULLY LOADED!! (AND WHY I BOUGHT IT) ruclips.net/video/ZwjXjWOWez0/видео.html
Dude that's a hill where I'm from in AK. :-) Definitely not the highest mountain in the country as you stated @ 22:21 , ever heard of mt. Denali aka McKinley ? Be well !
Chuck, I find that your videos are relaxing and enjoyable.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🇺🇸
Wow. I don't think that weather could be any better. Fantastic days to be outside. Thanks for sharing.
👍👍
great adventures there Chuck, cried a little when I heard your carbines on the granite rocks but I'll get over it. LOL....
Haha. I’m sure that’s in the manual as one of the “breaking in” techniques 😂. Watched your episode on cbc yesterday regarding the maple syrup. Great piece. Think I’ll try some birches

The grey is nice. Wasnt sure when i got it, but its nice. Eskimo makes a great tent.
Stayed tuned to my very next video….😉
Very cool! Always fun doing group rides the end of season. What a view from the top!
Absolutely Darren. Was hoping to squeeze one more ride in tomorrow but it’s pretty rough going
You are living the life Chuck, great to see some pristine countryside. Thanks for sharing your adventures
Sure looks like fun , get in all the riding while you can
A great overview of the last days of the snowmobile season Chuck.
Tks bud. In between winter and spring now. Back and forth. Had a foot of snow last night
Beautiful countryside.
Great video chuck, love watching your videos, that’s the type of skidoo that me and the wife enjoy doing together, come on with the new video..

Nice machine,enjoy

Great video chuck. Hopefully another ride coming up soon. Looks like temperatures dropping again.

I reapplied it after about 50-75 kms. Gets you out of a pinch. I got my skidoo geared up now with the extra idler wheels, scratchers, and new slides

Just heater mine up with three new items yesterday that will most likely help others. Will show in an upcoming video
Chuck my expedition came with the track predrilled for automotive studs which I find great for lubrication for the slides, I used #17 studs.
Ok so it increases the amount of snow going inside the track somehow? (Even though the studs are outside)
Yes thats correct the studs also tear up the hard snow which i find do the same as scratchers , I had mine done at tire shop for 100 dollars.@@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors
Chuck when I used my skidoo in hard snow I used spray on rust check
Should give it a try-much quicker to apply
Great video buddy
Re ice scratchers
Some people have been successful by installing one carbide track stud right in the rear of each ski…
This gives enough snow to lubricate the sliders.
