- Matt Skiba from Alkaline Trio (was also in Blink-182) joined Ted Stryker on @TunaonToastwithStryker . Matt rules so much! The new Alkaline Trio is GREAT!
Matt talks about his time in Blink-182, being grateful, and still keeping in touch with Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker. Matt also tells Stryker about how he felt when Mark Hoppus approached him about joining Blink.
Matt youre a legend. Youve solidified you place in history as not just a Blink-182 member, but a great musician, and a class act as you not only respectively yielded back to Tom, but was just as excited as everyone else that he came back. Youre a standup guy and deserve so much credit for bringing a generation of music back.
So grateful to Matt for saving the band. California and Nine are really great blink albums 🥁🎶🔥

The biggest issue I had with Skiba in Blink-182 is his voice sounded very similar to Marks
I didn’t realize both Mark and Matt sang both choruses in Bored To Death till I saw the music video
Sorry, but. They're pretty distinct from each other. I personally never confused them.

Matt is one of the best song writers of the genre. The blink albums he laid down are great. Trio is superior, tho and Blood, Hair, Eyeballs is a better album than One More Time.
Definitely glad Tom is and has been back. Blink with no Tom is like Metallica without James, System without Serj, Chili Peppers without Anthony… etc

As a long term AK3 fan it’s laughable that the blink fan girls cry about wanting Tom back when Matt is far superior in every department. And I like Blink but it’s no contest who the better band is. Grow up children.
The direction Blink went was not good. Felt like they didn’t let Matt do his thing. Plus the production was always horrendous and trend chasing.
Hope he works with Mark and Travis again. Blink 182 is Mark, Travis and Matt. Tom sucks and the band hit its peak when he was out and Matt was in. Tom may be on more albums, but Matt IS the real third member of the trio. Give it a year or 2 and Tom will piss off again.
Really? The last great Blink 182 classic was probably After Midnight. They used additional songwriters on the Matt Skiba albums and they were also overproduced into oblivion. Just as the newest Blink 182 album is as well, to be fair.
