Burlap is definitely the way to go. It works great for me as well. I just use the carpet gripper tack strips. I haven't had any problem with the burlap not staying on the frame. But I'm glad to see a RUclipsr actually use burlap because most that I see use tufting or monks cloth which is literally like 10x the price. And the burlap doesn't affect the quality of the rugs at all.

Omg i think this is what I needed. Burlap and every other fabric I’ve been using has made huge holes on me even though my technique has gotten so much better and straight. The fabric isn’t tight enough and I should staple it. I’m gonna try it today. Thank you so much 🥹

    • @TugsRugs

If you continue to create hole then it’s the gun you’re using. I recommend having the gun with the red trigger vs the black trigger. The black trigger gun is more powerful for burlap I’ve noticed

Hey I figured out that if you leave enough fabric around the edges then fold it under to double the fabric and staple to the sides of your frame it stays tight the whole time. I obviously still staple around the front but doubling on the edges helps it from slipping. Just wanted to share.

I bought the garden section burlap my 1st time and could get really tight stitches, however, i have learnt that there is Super Fine Hessian (burlap). Check if they sell it in your area, just found it locally and ordered a few minutes ago. It was even a tad cheaper for more.

I can only find really bad cheap burlap for plants and it's driving me nuts. The only good stuff I find is like $150 for 20 yards right now. I ruined like 2 rugs trying to use it. The fiber threads are way too far apart and break super easily even just stretching it too much :(
