It had water in Matt's video and it all boiled out. The first place I would look is the thermostat, if that is stuck closed then it would get hot very quickly and you wouldn't have any heater.

Anythingwritten off as uneconomical to repair still has a high value in parts broken up just for spares . The older the vehicle the bigger the profit . This applies to motorcycles aswell . Good luck guys

Not great knowing 2 mechanics have both diagnosed as head gasket, yet neither removed the coolant lid 🤨

We're not 100% on what's gone on with it, we're only going off what ste said, but that cap has definitely not been off in a while
So it looks like this car has never had an actual mechanic diagnose the problem? Even at the end of this video, no one has looked for signs of external leaking, which will be obvious rusty water stains. K series engine gasket failure probably causing bridging between water jacket and cylinders and coolant being chucked out of exhaust
We had looked for leaks, it just wasn't in the edit, and it's not a k series engine mate 😉
Very interesting video. As others have said, only the A Team have spotted there was no coolant. How the others missed it I don't know

That Nissan 100nx, make sure you pull the boot carpet back and take a look at the suspension struts. They used to crack/rust back in 2005. So definitely worth checking for safety. Yes I am Golders from the 100nx club back in the day!

The “Range Rover” that Prince Philip crashed before giving up his licence was a Freelander 2. His wife was more a Series 1 Land Rover person.

Yes it can definitely be saved, but high peaks editor ste has bought it, he's our mate so we've brought it back for him and we're gonna have a quick look to see if we can figure out if it is the head gasket
I had a P38 with head gasket symptoms but it turned out to just be a dodgey expansion tank cap which meant the system was not pressurising and therefore overheating.The Freelanders problems may just be that cap.
Hmm good possibility, we're gonna order one and see what happens when it's got coolant in
How on God's green earth has the header tank not been checked? Obviously not been pressure tested 🙄 hopefully it's a leak and an easy fix boyz

The VW is realy nice , My 1984 ford granada 2.8 ghia x the head gasket went 100%on 113,000 miles,i put a bottle off head gasket sealer in just to try it before i changed the engine it worked and its now on 198,000 miles still fine.its mad cost me £23, for the bottle off stuff .

You lads should get a welding apprentice, shove the 100 NX in their face and tell them to go to town on it. It has virtually every single piece of the chassis rotten to the core, so it would be a very valuable lesson, especially for pennies on the dollar that Matt paid for it. On top of that, virtually nothing can go wrong, cause even if the weldin job is botched, it's still a donor vehicle after all, innit?

I think the noise that F2 made initially could be the gears for the throttle butterfly. I've seen repair kits but they're not difficult to swap for a new one.
We did hear it, didn't think too much into it but I'll bare that in mind when we're looking at it mate thanks

I remember those Nissans when new. I went in a J plate that was a few weeks old. They looked so different when they first came out, compared to something like a ford escort.
