The real costar in this film is the Sikorsky S-55/H19 Helicopter which served in the Korean War as a main cargo and troop supply chopper! It had a 600 HP radial engine that turned the three bladed main and tail rotors, but had marginal performance at altitude! Used by all US armed forces for many years it was replaced by the Sikorsky S58 Choctaw! Sikorsky himself said it all: If you are in trouble anywhere in the world an airplane can fly over and drop flowers, but a helicopter can land an save your life! And you better believe it!

Stationed in Ashiya, Japan, U.S. Air Force Rescue Service members Master Sgt. Mike Takashima (Yul Brynner), Lt. Col. Glenn Stevenson (Richard Widmark) and Lt. John Gregg (George Chakiris) all carry personal demons stemming from a past event. When the orders come down to rescue stranded Japanese survivors of a shipwreck caused by a storm, the three men jump into action. On their way through the still violent storm, each shares the tale from his past that has affected him to this day.

I don't know where your employees learned to tell time this movie never happened 7 days ago..See, this why companies like yours should be banned from the Internet...

People would tell my father he looked exactly like Mr Widmark . He would tell them. NO, he looks like me 😅 . MY mother said Richard was out of touch, so she married my father. 😅.

Where would they get the stupid idea a ship would catch on fire 'because' of a storm? It might catch on fire 'in' a storm, if it was torpedoed, but the war is over - just sayin.
Mebe it struck a mine.... i will go with that, much better.

So, let me get this straight... Yul Brynner (a russian born actor) plays the part of a Japanese American Air Force master sergeant serving post WWII. Richard Widmark is prejudiced against him because his wife and child died in a Japanese prison camp. Okay, all woke boxes checked. ✔

George also danced with Vera Ellen in " White Christmas". Also with Danny Kaye , Bing Crosby, and Rosemary Clooney ( George's aunt).

Racism is still in the military and I know that, but this movie is old and the comment was unwarranted.
