    Elmo, another great lesson!! The respect that you treat your catches with is something a lot of folks should take notice. Too many so-called fisherman just casually toss their catch back. Thanks!

    Thanks again Richard!!. This crappie fishing has been a new lease on life for me . I have been doing alot of crappie catching here thanks to your inspiration. Using jigs, I have been catching multi species daily, which never happened in the past when just targeting bass. Was on a job all this week (Drywall contractor) where the customer lived on a gorgeous lake/pond. For example, yesterday I caught pickerel, bass, shellcracker and crappie!!. Thanks for what you re doing for the sport of fishing

    There's so many "fisherman" that just throw or even "launch" their fish back into the water. What I love about this is that he's so gentle with the release. It's important to protect our waters and preserve them for future generations. I'm 25, and I have a son who 2 years old. I want to show him how to respect nature and all of gods (or the universes) creatures. This guy genuinely reminds me of my grandfather who owned 5 80 acre pay to fish lakes. He always maintained that if you're taking a fish, you kill it humanely and don't let it suffer or keep it on oxygenated water until your ready to fillet. It's small steps, and no it's not against the law, but it shows the character of someone who's willing to do the small little things when nobody is looking.
    I'm in Kansas so the fishing is hard out here without a boat, but I'm excited to try this out around some timber and see what happens. Thanks for this video and I hope you're doing good!

    that's how we fish for crappie from a boat up here. a bobber, and a live minnow. Once you find the depth your just yank em out for hours. I cleaned 75 crappie one day after a 4 hour fishing trip.I clean right there on the boat ramp. then take them home and cut the fillets off.

    • @ironmen23
      @ironmen23 6 лет назад +4

      Ben B- When crappie fishing new bodies of water I have had the best luck by simply determining what depth the fish are at and fishing that depth around some sort of structure (Docks, Bridges, Brush Piles, etc.) A depth finder and other electronics makes this easier but you can do it without a depth finder as well. Simply find out how deep the water is your fishing but using your pole length to measure. Drop your jig to the bottom to determine depth. Fish 3-4 ft above the bottom and work your way up until action starts happening.

    I live by Sullivan Park and Lake, in Indiana. LOTS of crappies; lot of 7-9 inch ones, BUT, I have a spot, when the wind is out of the west, that the hogs congregate! Near a bridge; caught 12's, 13's and a few 14 inch there. Biggest one on Sullivan was a 17" crappie!! I use the same technique, but use solid head tube jigs with 1/16 oz. jig heads, small weighted bobbers similar to those shown here. Good video over all.

    Nice video, I use fish attractants such as krill oils and other scents including power bait scents. Best thing I do when I am done fishing is to drop the jigs, spinners, spoons, blades or whatever I put the scent on in a plastic half gallon milk container filled with Dawn dish soap and water. Shaking the container washing the scent off and extending the life of my jigs, lures and other items used to catch fish. I then rinse them off with clean clear water and lay out to dry.

    I find w the fish attractant- I do t know if I get more bites, but the definitely hit it better and hold longer- I like to use the “crappie nibbles” but I put them in a baby dropper and shoot them inside of a tube jig. A couple nibbles lasts the life of the tube, instead of coming off every cast
