This is a lovely teaching method. I started playing by ear at 3 years old, but my parents felt like i needed to learn to read music. I had a very strict teacher who would rap me on the knuckles if i got it wrong. If i didn't have the love i had for piano, i wouldn't be where i am today. I now teach children with special educational needs, and it's wonderful to watch them learn to love the piano without it being scary. I hope you don't mind me sharing this video as a learning tool for my pupils 💕💕

Some people really shouldn't become teachers . To teach anyone , be they children or adults , it's takes dedication . But more importantly , it takes love . Love for the instrument first and foremost . But important than anything else , love for the pupil you're sharing your gift of learning with . Rapping a child on their knuckles , just shows that love simply wasn't there . However your own inner love for the piano , allowed you to find your own way , without being led astray , by someone who should have known better .
Lisa is so much fun to watch, and has so much passion in her teaching. My son is 12 years old and learning and said this channel is the best at explaining and breaking it down to understand. I agree. Thank you Pianote! He also said Lisa is easy on the eyes lol
Pianote got me totally committed to piano playing again as an adult in mid 2020. I’m still with them. Excellent videos & instructions. Wonderful community! 👏👏💞

When I first started, my teacher told me the group of two black keys look like Snoopy’s ears, so in between you automatically recognize D. And for the group of 3 black keys, they said Think of F as the “front door” of the 3 black keys, and B as the “back door.”
When you play the key left of the two black keys, what do you see with your mind? A: Nothing, you hear just the sound? B: The letter "C"? C: A note on a ledger line below the staff? If your answer is C you got a direct connection between your keys and a sheet of music. If your answer is B, you put in an extra step of mental computation when reading notes... If your answer is A, you still have the freedom to choose, when reading notes.
The best way to teach yourself piano is through a mix of dedication, practice and curiosity. First and Foremost, get your hand on a good beginner piano book or online courses . Having structured lesson will lay a solid foundation and help you understand and fundamental on music theory and proper hand placement.
Hey so I didn’t watch the full vid yet and don’t know if it’s in there but my right wrist is killing me playing I’m still new and self teaching😂but like I sit further to the left mostly of the piano (it’s not a full key one though) and that feels better with not as much strain is there a better way 😅
Did you commit to practicing every day for at least an hour ? 4 years for me with Pianote and the beautiful Lisa. Wouldn't change a thing.. lifetime member and loving it. Thanks Lisa xx
