What’s up with expensive wool coats not being lined? I have had this gorgeous cream colored twill weave wool coat from Old Navy that I bought many moons ago. Back when their quality was better. I always get complements on it. The coat as well as the lining has held up well for over 15+ years.
I am finally in a position where I'm willing to consider spending $1000 on a coat... but I accidentally walked into a Max Mara store and found out that apparently the ultra-wealthy are out there spending like $4500+ on their coats 😂 Noped out of that! What's a decent wool coat alternative for more in the ~$1000 range?
I have wide shoulders for a woman but I hate men's jackets usually. I did happen across a vintage men's Burberry wool coat with hood recently at a thrift store and I'm almost sad that this winter has been smiled. Almost lol.
I would love to see your review of Italic wool coats! It’s a company that supposedly uses the same manufacturers as Max Mara, but is not a designer label so they sell the goods at a lower price to consumers! Love your videos 💕
UNLINED??? you won't catch me dead wearing an UNLINED coat!! This is so sad!! Usually I get my coats from second hand charity stores btw, they don't make them like they used to anymore..
Please do a video related to what brand would you look for when shopping secondhand/discount store. Like, your dream find at a thrift store/outlet mall clearance rack. I keep a list in my phone with my ideal finds and always wonder what quality brands I’m passing up without knowing the value.
I tossed a vintage (60s?) double breasted weatherproof lined heavy trench coat when I had to throw away half of my possessions a few years ago, I’ll never forgive myself for it 😭 I’ll never afford one like it
You will need to brush this out. Boiled wool is so, so great for longevity. But it does start pilling in areas of friction and the wool seperates in wisps over time. So a fine toothed metal comb is good to keep this looking 🫶
Just pooled out an old gucci coat, and it looks exactly like this one! Floppy and no kinging. Bought it for $100 on sale years ago, WAY before i started to understand labels...😂 i do regret buying it now.
You keep comparing a $400-$500 coat to Max Mara coats. A Max Mara wool / cashmere coat is NOT a few hundred dollars. it can cost at least 3 or 4 times morge, or even higher. It is not apple to apple comparison ,they are not the same grade . You cannot expect the same fabric or same workmanship
She's more than aware of that. She's trying "dupes" because most people can't afford a $4500+ coat (that's 2 of my mortgage payments) but still want a good quality coat. If $500 coats are unlined and poorly sewn, what's most of the population supposed to wear? Our only option is thrifting. She's comparing quality for us, the viewers, because we asked for her opinion/review. Love how condescending your comment is btw!
@@kaiaclark8383 when is stating the fact is condescending? I understand the “duping” part completely. But from the fabric and workmanship perspective, how often does she actually find a coat or garment that is comparable to products from brands such as Max Mara ( brand she often used as benchmark). I m saying the brands she chose to compare with is too high, not realistic.

If $500 give us wonky quality, then what the heck are the options for normal people
Vintage stuff I guess
@@BradenKennelly I am regularly visiting the options in my city. There are no options in my city.
A low quality coat
Wool Pancho
Seriously I feel like I’m going insane. Can’t find any good jackets or coats that look good at a reasonable price.

Spring coat. I had one from Anne Klein years ago. It was gorgeous, silk and cashmere with a monk’s hood. The moths got to it. I actually cried.
@@azbeaux oh noooo not the moths 😲😣
I'm convinced you can't get a decent coat for less than $1000 anymore. Thank god for second-hand

You can get weekend max Mara around 1000$. But if you live in colder weather like Canada, you might have to layer up more.
@@AmbiambiSinistrousI always buy them in Europe for HALF the price 😊
Advantage U.S. Southerners 😅 We might wear a coat once a year.

Yeah there’s no comparison. Once you swapped to the Max Mara I was like ooooo
I am learning to sew and some of these crooked seams look like my work.
I have 3 of their Classic coats and it’s fantastic 🫶🏼

The vintage wool coat I thrifted yesterday for $40 is a better Max Mara dupe than that one 🥲

I need to try Max Mara. I have a curated and love it, no pilling but ive had mine for four years.
My (vintage) Max Mara coat I found thrifting in Germany for 90€! Not sure about the composition sadly since there is no tag but it’s so nice 🤩
I have a few curated coats and non of mine have wonky sawing or lines. Also after over a year no peeling.

I just found a coat today labeled as "wool coat" and it was 100% polyester outer and lining
😢

Could you review your top 5-10 fabrics and their season appropriateness. Following in FL, trying to add quality to my wardrobe. Thank you!

What is the name of the max mara coat you had on?
Girl. I live in Florida if I ever need a coat I’m READYYYYY 😅
Multiple thousands of dollars for a coat - that still has curved seams, messy seam bindings, and cheap buttons
Max Mara is worth it❤
Ironed lapels? IRONED LAPELS!! That is a criminal offence.
Wait really? Can I ask why? I have so much to learn 😩
It looks like a bath robe
Idk what it is about that coat but it reminds me of a robe ..
For $440 man idk I expect well paid labour
I just want a fitted coat thats good quality and not too expensive. Why do they all look like overzised bathrobes 😢
Can you review a Sezane wool coat, the quality is supposed to be good?
Absolutely tired of hearing "Max Mara".
What is the style of your max Mara coat?

Have you reviewed quince?

$440 for no lining??
