Total boss for doing that in a hammock! I switched to the darkside and went with Dutch Chameleon and HG Tarp... can't beat the comfort! I have the sidecar for my hammock and won't leave home without it.
Looks by other comments that you got the record.. looking forward to seeing the video's if you made any. Cheers
    Todd

Love it! Would only go back to the ground if hanging were not an option.

Thanks Miyagi, it took everything I had for 8 days! What happened with your attempt? I was following along and you stopped transmitting.

Well done sir. I would love to know what food you took as I'm interested in the cold soaking approach. Thanks.

Thanks Imran! I did ramen bombs for most dinners on the FKT which is a pack of Idahoan Potatoes and a packet of ramen mixed together. I wouldn't recommend cold soaking that meal. The taste isn't bad but the consistency is like cement. Ramen or the Idahoan Potatoes are good on their own by cold soaking but not together. Couscous with different types of seasonings and dehydrated veggies is always a pretty solid choice.

Very impressive! Plus a hammocker. I dig it. Goodluck on the FKT on the SHT. How can we follow your progress? Thanks for sharing!

Did you use your Garmin for tracking and reporting stats for the FKT confirmation? I used the DeLorme InReach for the first time on the SHTthis past weekend - partnered with my pixel2 and found the INReach a little clunky to use and the tracking features unreliable. Good for 2-way messaging back home when no cell service was available but otherwise too heavy to justify its use for anything other than a satellite communicator for SOS in a wilderness area. I did 33 mile and 45 mile days with a short 10 mile day on day 3. I thought it possible for someone to beat Ward's record by doing 40 mile days, so nice to see that confirmed. Anything much faster than that is hard due the Duluth section. Good work!

Thanks K Flynn, it was a great trip. I have a little experience with the Inreach but prefer the accuracy of my Forerunner. Honestly I though I could do bigger miles the first 3 days but rough terrain and a heavy pack with all the food limited what I could do.

Yeah, I'm thinking those first days would be hard to do more than 35 and they'd feel like mid 40-'s for the reasons you mention. I did that northern section 2 years ago and could only get 35/36 in per day. That was with just 5 days of food too.

CONGRATS, by the way! Well deserved.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I had to give it everything I had to beat Mike's record. Sounds like you've spent quite a bit of time on the SHT, it's a hard trail to squeeze miles out of.

Thanks Marcus, I appreciate it. I'll be posting the video for the entire FKT once it's finished and will talk food after that.
