Mantan Moreland is a treasure. Too bad he wasn't allowed more starring roles due to the racism at the time. If he were around now, he would probably be a huge star. To me, he already was!
You can't bring your woke/modern views back to the 40s and make it work out. Mantan was as great as he was because of the times he starred. Get a grip, Debbie.

Boy!!! What a difference 85 years make! In 1939, bystanders see a woman on a high rise hotel roof, and yell, “Don’t, don’t, don’t jump…!” In our more modern, progressive year of 2024, bystanders see ANYBODY on a high rise hotel roof, they yell, “Go ahead! Do a flip!”…
